Know what I realize? That Lelouch wouldn't have had reason to care about his own Squishy Wizard status before his exile. Yet here he is protesting in honor of "that weakling" before Suzaku et al can even come into play in his life.
No wonder Lelouch hates his father so much. Add to him bombing and attempting to kill his own children after throwing that whole "bargaining tools" thing out the window, and it makes perfect sense why Lelouch's heart is filled with so much anger, hatred, and vengeance. When Lelouch swore to destroy his homeland, he didn't mean the country itself. No, he wanted to eliminate the man who treated him like shit, free Japan and every other area from Britannian influence, and destroy the current system of the Empire so that there is no longer any darwinism, racism, and discrimination towards non-Britannians.
It's amazing how many parallels there are between Code Geass and the Arthurian Legends. Britain and the Knights of the Round are only the most obvious. This scene is a parallel to Mordred, the son who demanded something from his father, was turned away and then raised a rebellion against Britain. But that is where the real perspective shines. Mordred demanded his father's power, and unleashed his coup to burn the kingdom out of selfish spite and envy. The just and noble reign of The Once and Future King was lost. Lelouch, however, demanded not power but justice. King Arthur was not an evil tyrant that sneered and spat on his 'weakness'. While the desire for revenge played a role when Lelouch led his own rebellion against Britannia, his ultimate desire was to end a reign of oppression and build a better and safer world for his sister. Mordred was an evil and selfish man. Lelouch is many things but he is not like Mordred.
These words have so much more power after knowing Charles' plan "you're dead, you've always been dead" with the thought elevator it didn't matter if his children lived or died, Lelouch held equal value to him dead or alive, so in essence he'd never been alive in his eyes. Such an arrogant fool, he saw the world as his yet never acknowledged the perspective of others who might lay claim to it as well. "And so it is to be a conqueror that you must hold a sword to the world, but should your arm ever weaken then a sword shall be held to you."
Is that a quote from the show or somewhere else? If it's from the show, don't say which episode because my brother and I just watched Episode 46 last night.
reminds me of a lyric in Les mis " Never kick a dog, just because hes a pup. Or you better run for cover when the pup grows up!" ;) Charles got what he had coming to him.
Huzeifa Essaji i wonder in his middle name comes from his mom being the 6th wife or something Vi being VI as in 6 in roman numerals. which still wouldnt make that much sense as britannia beat rome.
HexManiacMaylein Emperor Charles had over 100 wives (I think it was 108?) Most of them gave him at least a single child. Most of his wives he married for political gain or he married after he got them pregnant. Lelouch is however one of the few children he had after marrying that particular wife (in his case Marianne). He had 5 siblings who were also non bastards with the other 11 coming from various older bastard siblings. One of his siblings who is around Clovis age was like 87th in line to the throne. So Charles had about 8 legitimate kids with his other 90+ being legitimised bastards. Britannia is also a might makes right so while Odysseus as the oldest legitimate child has the best claim any of his siblings can leap frog over him by proving more capable. Schnitzel (I'm keeping that because goddammit autocorrect) only didn't take Odysseus' place because Charles didn't trust him and he'd rather puppet master his brother instead of ruling in the spotlight.
Aru Akise Oh im aware how many there are i just want to know how the hell the rank is decided because in real monarchies the bastards aren't counted and since Britannia is more of "Meritocracy"(in the sense of "i didn't get get killed by my siblings there for i am best prepared to rule") which basically makes one wonder why there is even a ranking system. But if you look at their middle names they all seem to be related to a roman numeral system. Was Marianne the 6th wife?

Especially one so clearly distraught and grieving the loss of his mother and struggling to cope with the crippling of his sister? And the way he sort of squeals and falls backwards at 1:57 is just so heartbreaking. He's utterly terrified, I mean come on not only is Charles extremely imposing with his large stature and deep commanding voice, but he is also the emperor of Brittania, probably one of if not THE most powerful man on the planet. Poor little Lelouch, I feel so bad for him! Even years later, you can tell Lelouch is still deeply traumatized and terrified of Charles by the way he reacts when Suzaku drags him before his father (granted he was also terrified because he knew his father was likely going to execute him, possibly torture him as well and then he finds out Charles plans to basically mindrape and brainwash him into becoming his devoted follower). God, that is still something I can't ever really forgive Suzaku for. I sympathize with him a lot, and I want to like him, I know at the time he was grieving Euphy and had no idea that Lelouch didn't actually intend to kill her or by extension all of those Japanese people. Even so, to drag someone, your best friend from childhood no less, before his father who traumatized him? And then willingly participate in helping him brainwash said friend by holding him still and keeping his right eye open while covering his left as he screams and shouts for him to stop? That's just... dear lord, how does someone do that? I can sadly sympathize with Lelouch, having gone through something similar as a child. I know what it's like to be that helpless and terrified, to fear for your safety while being yelled at by someone so much bigger and stronger than you with a loud booming voice as they make threats and hurl insults at you. I know what that's like. God, poor Lelouch.

Makes you wonder what Charles really thought of Lelouch saying he gave up his claim to the throne and he's tired of the fighting and scheming between his siblings to become Emperor and Empress? Now Charles is a bastard for calling Nunnallys smile, innocence and gratitude a delusion and a lie, despite him using Geass on Nunnally and banishing her and Lelouch to him it was all necessary for his plan to create a world without lies and possibly death (as the plan was for also the dead to rejoin the living) and their safety from their sadistic jealous bro-con of an uncle.

The Geass Order man behind Charles. Nice detail.
Oh I thought was was the knight of one aka bismark
If I recall correctly Charles did this to protect Lelouch and his sister.
It was just an excuse- he only made that up so lelouch wouldn’t get in his way
@@coltonk5 He has very little reason to lie, and doesn't think Lelouch can really *stop* him anyway. Besides, VV literally killed their mother because Charles cared about them too much. Odds he would've left them alive? I... doubt it.
I love this dub
lelouch looks like charles
No he doesnt
@@tablekun7474 charles as a kid ressembles lelouch a bit
I thought I'm the only one who think Lelouch kinda looks like Charles.
@@nabilanaim5173 their face is a bit similar
No, Nunnally does though. If you look at the flashbacks to young Charles, he had long brown hair and purple eyes, same as Nunnally. He looks like a giant male version of Nunnally. I can't unsee it.
That's what happens when you back talk.
Charles, you brought this on yourself.

No, of course not!
smol lelouch!!
And DeathNote fans think Light Yagami is the better protagonist. I will always prefer Lelouch Vi Brittania.
All Hail Lelouch.

All these years later and I just realized that's C.C. in his bed!
Crazy how those 2 didn’t do it
My question is why did Lelouch state this publically where Charles image was to be protected? Why not privately? Probably what Charles was mad about..
Jesus Christ! Even Tywin Lannister seems to be an adorable father if you'll compare him to this dude.
Hoàng Nguyên Fully agreed
This makes me wonder did Charles purposely put on this act, since he said later that this was to protect them ?
Relatable.
