Im disappointed in the small improvements LG has made from the CX Oled to the C2. Def not worth tue extra money until LG adds/upgrades/changes these features.
We are still missing DTS-X support. Movie enthusiast are now forced to use one audio format now which can ruin the experience since not all movies are originally mastered in the dolby atmos format.
I would also like to see LG upgrade to Freesync Premium Pro, G-Sync Ultimate & HDR10+.
When will we get a 12bit Panel/Color @4k 120hz screen? Can we get a backlit remote & removable power cord? Can we get THX & IMAX support/modes? Can we get 5 Hdmi 2.1 @48gps ports instead of just 4? Bring back the HDR effect mode setting.
Heat Sink added to the C series line. Get rid of Filmmaker Mode because its just a blanket filter mode that has zero meta data! Get rid of the full screen webOS so we can see what we are watching!

Does the 48" C2 have a sharper image than the 55" or did you change something in the setting because on your other video? The difference was night and day but with the 55" C2 it looks the same if not worse because of the extra brightness on the right side in some scenes.

It does help give me back more black details again but I have always switched DTM off due to Vincents recommended settings. Do you still feel its ok to leave DTM switched on? Hopefully after 250 or 300 hours the black crush is improved also.

Another excellent video. Just my personal story about OLED break-in.. I own a 65" CX that I purchased last May. I was coming from a 2012 Panasonic plasma and was really excited to join the OLED world. When I first fired up the CX, I was decidedly underwhelmed. Things just seemed dull and muted, but after around 150- 200 hours the CX just bloomed and I've been amazed ever since. I had no idea these OLED's had a break-in period. I was actually on the verge of returning the CX but I decided to just stick it out. So happy I did. I'm amazed by this TV on a daily basis.

I have had my C1 since the 3rd of last month and I can honestly say it's the best tv I have ever owned. Friends who have come to my home and have seen it and watched it love the PQ and the design. So it's safe to say I am set for a few years and then I may go full projection system when the wife and I get our own home. That being said. I have seen the new C2 up close and personal recently and what I see is a tv that's brighter and has a slightly better processor and that's about it. I dont care for the build quality which seems to me cheaper then normal for LG and what I have read and heard is they went the same way Sony has and that is using recycled plastics in their tv's. But not a big deal I suppose. But the C2 is a great tv and you cant go wrong if you pick one up. But if you already have a C1 dont bother because you have a winner on your hands already and no need to upgrade unless you want more brightness. But that being said. Great review as always.

Thanks for the info, I've had my c1 since the same ammount of time and I was considering returning it to get a c2 since my panel was also faulty. I decided not to and LG came and fixed my TV for completely free under warrantee. And I've got to say, yes it's absolutely amazing especially for gaming. Noticed that my old 27 inch monitor had more input lag than a 55 inch oled C1 which was baffling to me.

I'm finally upgrading my TV after using the same one for about 10 years now, I'm leaning towards the C1 because of the affordability (The C2 doesn't seem like it's worth paying 30%+ more for). I'm so far out of the loop on TV features and getting the best picture quality, got any advice on settings recommendations? I'm mostly streaming shows and movies, with the occasional video game. I'd like to find something that makes streaming look good first and foremost.

    • @NetherlandsFirst
      @NetherlandsFirst Před rokem

The C1 is the first OLED TV that I've owned and the first in this type of price range, as I normally buy 500-euro TVs. So far, I like the C1 but I don't see why it's supposedly amazing. It tends to crush blacks quite a bit, and even scenes that are supposed to look bright can look fairly dull on the C1. I even recently saw a video showing that the C1 can darken things so much that a beach with bright sand can instead look like a grey mess of mud.
I believe HDTVTest (or maybe it was somebody else) also showed a comparison of a Ratchet and Clank game, and while it looked vivid on a different TV, it looked fairly dark on the C1. This was without HDR, mind you.
I will say the colors and input lag are great and the motion-handling options work like a charm, but other than that, the C1 gets rid of a lot of detail by crushing blacks, even to the point that it seems to darken already dark colors and scenes. In addition, the sound quality is just abysmal for a TV that was about 1100 euros at purchase.
Really don't see what the hubbub is about, but maybe all OLEDs suffer from these issues to some extent.

      Hi
I recently set up a 55" C1 for my brother. It's a great value for money, top built quality, excellent picture and features.
It's important to enable all the Oled protection features to avoid burn in.
You know Oled panels have a permanent burn in risk due to static images especially the bright ones.
But there is the technology with some measures to prevent that. As Lg saying is up to us - the users.
It has picture shift, logo fading, pixel shift-static image detection and Pixel Refresh. Tv must stay always connected to power source, when turned off it goes to stand by and is automatically doing the Pixel Refresh. For every 4 hours of watched tv it takes 10 minutes to clean, some times it could take an hour to clean, it depends.
When the tv is getting older it's gonna take longer for the cleaning process to be done.
After a year of usage a message'll pop-up on the screen prompting for a mamual Pixel Refresh. The manual way it should be perfomed only when prompted or once a year, because if is done very often it can shorten the life of the panel.
All the info is available on Lg's website.

I like the bigger stand on the C1 more, better stability and it looks better, more substantial and "special" so to say. Also, I will guess that You have the C1 with WBC panel, opposed to mine C1 with WBE (later in the year) that has better color separation. Motion should also be the same because C1 also has "Cinematic Movement" setting in TrueMotion menu, that removes judder without soap-opera effect (I'm using it all the time).
So basically, C2 is a little brighter, as expected both are great TVs.

He points out in this video that the C2 has better motion handling than *any* TruMotion setting on the C1. C2 has much less stutter _without_ TruMotion on things that were typically a problem (24 and 50fps) and no soap opera effect _with_ TruMotion. TruMotion works differently on the C2. Other channels have confirmed this. LG have always had issues with motion and the C2 99% fixes it. It now rivals Sony who were the leaders.

The C2 is essentially one of those updates where the actual best part is that it makes the C1 cheaper... that's not to say the C2 is bad by any means, it is a better TV if you're willing to spend the money but it puts the C1 into "no-brainer" territory, the C1 is already a formidable TV and now you can get it for even cheaper than you could just a couple months ago! the C2's "upgrades" start to look a little less appealing when you look at the large gap in price and that's sure to only get bigger as the months go by and especially if the C1 begins to go on sale, personally i'd say the minor differences between the two are not worth the extra money so if you need one today i'd say buy the C1 otherwise wait for C3... or if it's not TOO urgent but you don't want to wait a whole year for C3 then at least hold out a few months longer until Black Friday for a potential sale on the C1.

I mean youre right, but that's basically true every time a new general of the C models come out. The C1 made the CX a no brainer, CX made the C9 a no brainer, etc, etc. There's some exceptions when new tech comes out like hdmi 2.1, but as new tvs come out it's unusual for them to be quantum leaps ahead of their immediate predecessors. I could look up a bunch of C1 videos of people saying to just get the CX. We're all enthusiasts in many respects here for even buying newer LG OLEDS. Frankly speaking, the C2's brightness is noticeably better than than the C1's and I'd say getting the C2 discounted (black friday sales) is definitely a no brainer as well.

It's fine if a movie takes place on an tropic island, but scenes shot indoors with natural colours cause me eye strain once daylight peaks in through a window in that scene. Same with Subtitles. They just blast through the screen and i think my eyes can't adjust to the punchy contrast difference from black to white.
