The LG C2 and the LG C1 are pretty similar. But in this video I put them head to head to see what is really better about the LG C2.

i purchased a c1 because its features are good enough for me that its price advantage outweighs the improvements that are on the c2. particular to note is that it's fully compatible with all the features of the current-gen consoles including current-gen GPUs.
And the feet of the c2 sucks compared to the c1 in my opinion it really gives it a cheap look
@@keesdekoning4878 which C2 in particular do you dislike the most?
@@wcr6121 each one expect for the 83 inch model(it’s got the original feet) wich I also went for. I got it for the same price as a 83 inch c1, I was lucky because they couldn’t order me a c1 83 inch anymore xD
Best review of these two TVs by far! Thank you!!
Great video; I’m happy that I found this channel. I own a C1 65 inch. I’m thinking about upgrading to a G1, but I’ve also been curious how different the picture quality is on the C2 from my C1.
Buy a C2 you won't regret it...
I went from a 32-inch 1080p LG that I bought in 2013, to a 48-inch C1 I bought last January for my bedroom. I haven't seen any burn in while using it as my all-in-one PC/Gaming/TV. The picture is amazing, so I don't see myself upgrading anytime soon, unless I see burn ins.
Thank you for measuring the height of the stand.! I couldn't see that anywhere so started a live chat on the LG website and spoke to a "LG TV Expert" (called Moose). He directed me to the LG website )the one I was already on) and told me to ask someone else!
Actually my favorite new feature isn't a feature at all.. Its the fact LG offers a 42" C2! For PC this makes all the difference when sitting so close. Both for text and general comfort. I have a 48" C1 and the text is just not sharp given the low PPI at that size. And neck strain is non-existent at 42".
C1 was one of the best TVs last year. It still is now. Upgrading to a C2 just because it’s the latest one is a luxury. This is what I keep on telling myself when I saw the Star Wars edition last night. Must. Resist.
I have the C1 and i will never upgrade to C2, no worth the money seriously, thr C1 is absolutely the best buy actually
@@techgirl517 ya, if you can get one lol out of stock in my area
@@techgirl517 same here. The C1 is a fantastic tv and if you have it dialed in, without anything else to compare to it's going to look perfect.
It and the a80J were both great values last year in terms of what you get. It's a high end experience for sure.
Many C1 even have evo panels. Most do actually. They only use the non-evo panels on the first ones that came out. Once they were out of old panels, they used new evo panels.
I also hate to be that guy but the stuff he said about the c1 motion is literal nonsense you can dial it in 0 to 10 for both dejetter and de blur and there is a massive difference between 0 and 10.
That's not bias because I own it.. it's just a reality.
It also had 120hz black frame insertion which adds motion clarity in a natural way without visible flicker. Idk why they took it away with the C2.
Odds are it'll be back new and improved for the c3 or c4. Gotta take things away to put them back for future "upgrades". Like they did with brightness the last few years.
For SDR it's a "must have" for me.
I have the c1 to and I keep seeing stuff about the c2 and like a magpie I am drawn to the shiny newness but you are right it is a luxury to upgrade to this from the c1 unless your current TV is failing obviously
@@RustyDarkStone I'm in the same boat looking for a good deal this holiday....Whatever is the cheapest...
Yeah, just wait until this time next year so you'll be faced with the same decision, but it'll be the C2 vs the C3 in stead of the C1 vs the C2. Great idea. 😑
That is exactly what I was going to say. 😅
@@yamahaplayer 😭😭😭😭
That's the thing. I have a chance to get a C1 for a good price right now. I could wait a year for the C2, but I'll be comparing the C3 and thinking the same thing. I'm currently using a 1080p TV that is more than 10 years old, I'm done waiting!
@@TheFirstRealChewy The C1 will be a major upgrade for you.
when i get the c2 i wont upgrade till games are running at 8k, so ill have the c2 for a long time no matter what newer version of lg oled displays comes out
great review, thanks mate
Great review Sam as I am considering both so thank you.
My conclusion is the new tech is just providing diminishing returns for a price that doesn’t make sense given the minor improvements.
I will buy the C1
Cheers
Why would you use motion smoothness in next gen gaming in the first place with VRR?
I every much enjoyed the video. I'm currently looking to purchase the lg c1/c2 and have been searching for more information about them. I have watched many videos and yours is my favorite. Keep up the awesome work brother. Btw, I have all the new consoles PS5 Xbox Series X Nintendo Switch, and just want a TV that will be able to run them at their best and full potential.
Can I ask which model did you buy?
Lg c1 is better value for money right now, however software looks hella lot smoother on the c2 and lesser black crushing. Imma wait for C2 price drop and by then Sonys gaming tv will finally be out and I can’t wait too see a comparison. Relieved to hear it’s lighter and yeah that does make a difference I agree.
I'm thinking exactly the same as u even when it comes to the Sony
@@christianmarmol3230 The speakers 🔊 in the Sonys as well is unmatched hence I don’t mind compromising 2 hdmi 2.1 ports. The audio on oleds need to step up the standard imo. I get that wireless speakers exist but these tv stands don’t accommodate enough space for it and this have to take up shelf space you’d reserve for consoles.
@@TheSlyDragon93 get a bigger tv stand then, simple
Yeah but what about when the C3 comes out and it’s even better?
The price of the a95k is too much just get a c1 or a c2 I like the feet on the c1 a lot more then the c2. I have had a s95b but it’s really a bad tv it doesn’t even come close to Lg or Sony their tvs
Got the C1 55” paid 2500 for it love it I bought another this time C1 48” for my gaming room paid 1100 on sale this time from 1800. I’m not upgrading too the C2 it’s a very small upgrade really
I got the 48 inch C2 today and while 1,300 usd is a little up there, I dont regret the purchase as I wanted to spoil myself with my first oled. It is miles better than my 2020 budget 4k TCL tv before it. I will keep this tv for a good while and get my moneys worth over time!
The C2 42 inch and 48inch does not have the new EVO panel
@@sonnyvillani9011 true but luckily my room is very dark so the colors pop regardless
@@sonnyvillani9011 Can you provide the source of this info? On LG’s promotional materials it both shows evo on the smaller models and references it in the literature. The panels are not the same as the C1 panels and whilst they don’t have the same brightness levels that is not because they aren’t evo panels, it’s due to their pixel density being higher than any of the larger panels.
@@sonnyvillani9011 yes it does, it's just not as bright as the sizes above 48inch, lg does this as these two sizes seen to be used more as pc monitors, so they don't need to be as bright with that much more pixel density, as someone else said, even later versions of the C1 have an evo panel
@@migez1 yeah i know the time I bought my tv the prices werent the best. But overall i still dont regret it and plan to hold on it for a good while and get my moneys worth

Awesome sponsor integration! Password managers are a must use for anyone who has accounts
I’ve got a 65 C1 downstairs. Getting a 42 C2 this week to try as a PC monitor.
I watch a lot of movies, a lot.. and i play videos game a lot too. Should i buy a C1 right now or wait for the C2 during Black Friday?
TLDW: The difference is $900 and slightly better brightness\picture but worse black frame insertion. If you want a gaming TV the 65" LG C1 for $1600-1699 is THE best option on the market
Not the 55 inch for a 2 meter distance ?
the black crushing is scaring me, how does it really look? will i lose all details in shadows when playing dark game or its not that bad?
Still rockin my cx 77inch and love it with ps5. In that note is it worth upgrading to c1 or c2 ????
Got the CS for £910. Apparently it’s a C1 with the processor of the C2. So far I love the TV it’s great
I have left some comments regarding the CS model on some CZcams videos as not many people seem aware it is a middle option with not much different to the C2. A bit different remote, older, but still decent WiFi connectivity and possibly the older panel. I think some on Reddit say it has better build quality too.
I did buy the C2 attracted to the new panel and more brightness but it didn't matter anyway as most brightness boost are in the 55 inch plus models and I bought the 48 inch.
I wish I'd realised sooner but happy with the TV. Hope you enjoy the CS!
Do you recommend C2 gaming monitor?
11:18 , the transition from the lizard to the palm tree road. so I frame by framed this part. for those who dont know, on CZcams hit pause, then hit your "comma" and "period" keys. On the C2 I notice when it cuts, the palm tree road, theres a few frames of over exposure, then it drops back to the regular level. the C1 did NOT do this. im curious if this was your camera or the TV. because this looks like some kind of automatic brightness adjust and it just looks awful. Im currently debating the C1 vs C2 and if this is true, its a deal breaker for the C2. thanks
Enjoyed the video. You mentioned you move tvs around often. I'm about to move house with a 55inch c1. Do you usually take it apart and pack it back in the box, or move it around without doing so?
If it leaves the house, it goes in the box
@@ItsSamuelJones Appreciated
@@ItsSamuelJones I 2nd that. I learned that lesson the hard way. Keep your TV boxes unless you plan on not moving before you buy another tv
I have the LG C1 48 inch.
It's my gaming monitor.
Playing Destiny 2 4k 120FPS. It blows me away just have good the picture looks.
I can never go back to a monitor.
And I can never go without OLED.
It even makes older games look better.
The HDR is top shelf.
From Total Warhammer 3, Destiny 2, Black Ops Zombies.
Destiny 2. Is breathtaking on it.
I picked up and Elite Series 2 controller.
With the 120FPS and the controller my KD doubled
I love the Sony motion. Is the LG c2 motion that much better? Because my parents have the C1 and I did not like the motion that much. And blacks used to be to crushed, so that details lost their details?
I want either the 55inch Lg c2, Sony a80j, Sony a90j or the Sony a80k.
I love a good motion, contrast, Colors and blacks have still a lot of details. Also reflections need to be good enough or better
I have an LG web OS TV SK8500PLA from 2018 and i want to know if there is a way to watch 2 or more tv programs from the same input i must say (OR even maybe CZcams and television)(Picture in Picture or Split Screen). I like this C2, it is so COOL !!
CAN I USE ULTRAWIDE MODE ON C1 ?
I enjoyed the video and I don't feel like I lost out by buying the C1 this last Xmas.
You mentioned the C1 has bad motion control? Personally I don't have any smoothing turned on when I'm watching films in cinema or cinema home and have had no problems at all. All looks good to me.
I do use tru motion "smooth" setting in Standard pic.mode when I'm watching terrestrial broadcasts, as I have noticed a bit of judder occasionally. Also it makes watching Football much better and the actual football becomes clear and not fuzzy.
As for brightness I find it great. I use cinema home with HDR tone mapping and AI brightness engaged for day time movies and I don't have to go above 40 percent panel brightness for SDR content.
I probably should stop watching new TV reviews as I don't want to feel like I'm missing out.
Honestly I love the C1.
Except the o/s is a bit sluggish!
Completely agree with all of this!
If u turn (on) Dynamic tone mapping it will take away the brightness from the tv. Try turn if off an u c how brighter the tv get. I believe LG should use micro dimming in all they smart tv an OLED tv why bcuz it didn't dim the backlit. Micro dimming only dim the picture an contrast to give u a better picture quality an far better look without losing the brightness from the back ground.
The c1 motion control is quite good. If you're running no smoothing and don't notice judder, you are lucky.
For me, no interpolation looks like a drunk person is holding the camera. Everything shakes and doubles slightly, getting very bad when it pans a given direction. Smooth artifacts more than I would like. I only use it on anime
For my tastes, dejudder on 8 deblur on 0 is great. I use this for dolby vision as it's bright so both judder and motion issues are noticeable. Some of the best motion I've seen on any TV. Judder free without being too smooth and it minimizes hand artifacts.
For sdr I use 8 dejudder 8 deblur. For some reason I don't notice the "soap opera effect "the way I do on Dolby vision for SDR it just looks incredibly smooth.
I think it's the brightness difference between the two modes.
I also use black frame insertion for my night mode where I don't need brightness and want the best motion possible.
Hopefully this helps someone looking.
8 dejudder and 5 deblur also is pretty cinematic.. another one to try under custom motion.
Smooth motion in sports is useable, but 8/8 is also worth testing you may find it looks more natural. BFI on low is helpful if you can deal with the slight brightness drop.
For your black frame insertion you want to turn it to Auto for the 120hz for sdr
@@andrethomas9071 the tv gets brightness with dynamic tone mapping on. especially in hdr. Without using it for HDR the tv is downright underwhelming.
@@paulcox2447 Thank you Paul. I'll keep those points in mind but honestly I don't need motion smoothing or BFI for anything other than SD TV. I find DTM great for HDR10 content. It gives a nice pop to the image. I don't care if its not "Reference" accurate as I just love the images on screen. I have every pic mode set to Warm 30, as I do find personally warm 50 just looks to brown and yellowy.
All in all I love this TV and hope I don't need a new Telly for a good few years to come.
Cheers 😀
Well, if you wait to buy a C2 at the current price of the C1, once you get there you'll be wondering the same with the new C3 ;)
So it makes more sense to buy a C1 now.
Is the C2 the only one that can perform hands free voice control? Also why does the C2 look less sharp than the C1? 11:18 12:54
I would like to get the C2 48 inch, But I really would prefer the brighter eco screen and the smaller stand.
The G1 C2 and G2 have the hands free voice control.
How about getting a G1 instead of a C2 or C1?
Do either one of these models have decent built in speaker systems? I don't like sound bars and therefore need a TV that has decent speakers built into the TV itself.
supposed to be upgrading to a c1 tomorrow. But i wonder about the motion now e.g. for gaming i think i would be very susceptible to soap opera effect etc
I have the LG OLED CX (I think it has an EVO Panel) but these panels were from C1 onwards, from the hidden menu it appears WBE/MMG/GZ and on the model sticker the 4th letter after the dot is a W
Do you have any explanation why my CX mounts an EVO panel?
For gaming you mentioned both are perfectly fine..
but
my question is...you mentioned, colors handling are very better in C2...So, what is your feedback about color quality, in gaming context, for both variants..? Will we still expect better colors in gaming on C2 or both are the same?
PS: In my opinion, this color factor is a very big factor, not to be ignored, as you are buying an advanced TV only for the visuals !!
You have setting on on your TV? I turn everything off. All processing off. Then no issues.
when i get the c2 i wont upgrade till games are running at 8k, so ill have the c2 for a long time no matter what newer version of oled displays comes out
update: currently have the c2 and its amazing display 4/5 stars definitely recommend
C2 is an excellent TV, easily you can enjoy that panel for 5+ years
C2 is not an 8k tv. It’s the same specs as the C1. So you’ll benefit a lot more from current games running at 120 hz with a c1 since the prices have dropped drastically. Literally just ordered my second one just because. Anyway, you’re better off saving up until the 8k’s come out along with the new consoles for them.
@@jacobargue6383 you didn't read what he said. If he gets the C2 he won't upgrade until 8k gaming is mainstream
@@jaketapper8910 oh. Yeah I must’ve missed that.

Is the c2 worth the price difference ?
What about B2 and A2 can you compare them to C2?
I work in Costco, the c1 were selling for £887 for 4 months, the c2 is £1400 now
Just a small nit: Doing this reviews it is quite important for the viewers to get used to which side of the screen to expect the C1 and C2. Having them appear once on the left, then on the right is bloody confusing.

I see there is a new LG CS model (OLED55CS6LA) available. It looks, from my simple viewpoint, identical to the C2 model (OLED55C24LA) short of a few aesthetic details such as stand size and input port locations but I imagine there must be more to it than that. Have you tested one - any thoughts?
Anyone else got any thought?
I was told a c1 panel with a c2 chip, no evo
So CS has the first gen WBE panels, which the 42 C2 was released with as well. Newer variations have the evo WBE panels so most 42 should have newer panels now. So not really sure if you're gaining too much with C2 other than a maybe for longevity of less burn in, which isn't proven yet. LG says brightness booster is because of the new processor not the panel. Also improvements for tone mapping, WEBOS, banding, motion, etc is also because of the processor. The bad thing you're definitely getting with the newer panel is the pink tint that is on all newer LG panels. Its just a case of how bad it is on your set. So CS might actually be the better pick instead of C2
they make them thin but they have a big ass with the cooler so there not thin at all. thats downside of oleds they need lot of cooling. is this same for mini led?. they should make the foot stand part of the cooler . if the stand is setting on a cool service would also help with the heat

The C2 is essentially one of those updates where the actual best part is that it makes the C1 cheaper... that's not to say the C2 is bad by any means, it is a better TV if you're willing to spend the money but it puts the C1 into "no-brainer" territory, the C1 is already a formidable TV and now you can get it for even cheaper than you could just a couple months ago! the C2's "upgrades" start to look a little less appealing when you look at the large gap in price and that's sure to only get bigger as the months go by and especially if the C1 begins to go on sale, personally i'd say the minor differences between the two are not worth the extra money so if you need one today i'd say buy the C1 otherwise wait for C3... or if it's not TOO urgent but you don't want to wait a whole year for C3 then at least hold out a few months longer until Black Friday for a potential sale on the C1.

are you familliar with plasma TV? I have an old samsung plasma 50" and god i love this tv BUT i wonder if i would very get much more if i switch to C1 or C2. My colours are great, punchy, bright enough (dark room), handle motion perfectly, the black are deep although not perfectly black, has a game mode for better input lag but i don't really know where its sitting maybe around 34ms, look good at ANY angle, handle upscaling from PS4 Pro very well (it's a 1080p but really look more like a 1440p once its supersampled), the list goes on...
Would i really get a better gaming experience with a C2 per se? faster input lag, deeper black for sure, true 4K, less noise (hissing from plasma), less heat LOL, HDR, but i feel like my colours can compete... it's truly an amazing tv but its getting old and all those oled is very tempting... Should i upgrade to the PS5 instead and keep my plasma? WHAT DO I DO lol
plasma tv have magic and still have amazing color even without HDR , the motion on plasma is very real specially in movies and games, in my room have oled C1 and Panasonic vt50 , and Samsung Qled Q7FN ,
its complicated and hard decision for what to keep , in fact i will keep all of them (65inch 😬🙄)
for me the plasma vt50 is the best for movies ,(i think many people knew this fact) but its secret and not too much people speak about it,
C1 is the best for modern tech like 4k, g-sync,120hz ,smart input lag,,,,,etc , and its amazing in dark room( black is more than black 👌)
for me the C1 or many OLED/plasma TVs are not nice for desktop use because the of low brightness and for burn-in risk , but in games are great ,
QLED tv Samsung ( q7fn ) very bright , overall the Samsung Qled is amazing for everything specially for PC use, but in dark room you will laugh for the poor balck comparing with oled or plasma , because the black in qled not real and far from realistic feeling , newer Qled from 2020 to 2022 have better black than my 2018 Q7FN ,,,
the very high brightness in QLED TVs can make different to the decision,
high brightness in samsung Qled mean nice (BFI ) with high brightness
the main reason for me to keep the samsung QLED because i prefer gaming while BFI turned on in most games , screen still look very bright with BFI ON ,
for me in PC use and googl,,,,, QLED is the best
sorry for my poor English
@@chopinhoven your English is fine! Mind blowing how plasma tv were ahead of their time! My main use is ps4 pro gaming and watching movies from the said ps4 pro all of this in a dark room. Your comment helped me choosing, thanks!
And I’m curious, how bad is oled when watching movies? I’ve heard motion is bad does that mean that it’s blocky/less sharp image or it means it’s jarring and choppy? Is it that noticeable?
@@dndavidsonsnation2562 watching a true HDR 4k movies on oled tv is amazing feeling, for me just because the great contrast , very very clean image and the true black ,but the plasma in motion is better and very realistic even with slow movement of anything in the movie ,
the motion clarity in plasma make most scenes in moving picture more clear than oled even in slow motion , oled can be clean in moving picture without motion blur too (enable clear motion,,,,etc), but its not real/realistic motion like plasma ,
the motion in oled not bad at all especially if you watch hdr 4k contents,( the picture quality on OLED tv will make you most of the time to forget the motion resoution )
i still prefer to watch movies on plasma tv , i feel plasma give more cinematic feeling than anything ,
C2 and kept my reciept for price match
Really is it worth me getting the c2 over the c1 or is the c1 still going to be great for movies ?
C1 is a great TV. If the deal is way better get the C1
I have the c2 65 inch I got it on a black Friday from John Lewis for 150 cheaper and the TV is brilliant
Yes , you did hep me decide. The c1 is a design classic that will live on for a good while yet, the overall picture is darker but the tones are more balanced, and the color pallette more natural on the C1, also for you geeks out there, have a look under the microscope and you will see a clear difference in pixel arrangement between c1 and later models. I think personally they got it spot on on the C1 and they don't really, sorry I've never been able to spell the word realy need to change it.
Both are missing DTS decoding which is mind boggling in this day. On what planet do we live on?
I was considering upgrading to the G2 65 from a C9 65 till I read about that crap. Wow LG. Wow.
Personally, I went with c1 48 and I’m happy but for proper tech heads, I’d say wait, until next year and get the C2 for roughly same as c1 price. Unless your made of money. Then I’d skip c1 and C2 and buy that paper thin £5000 LG .
The C1 actually has more motion settings as well. The C1 has Off, Low, Medium, High, Auto. The C2 only has On and Off. 🤔
Also C1 had BFI at 120hz too
@@Patrick-tw7nr what is bfi 120hz
@@akombalasau4022 black frame insertion! It essentially lowers input lag , and smoothens motion by inserting a plain black frame between two regular frames. It works great, but it significantly lowers peak brightness, which is already low on most OLED set's! It destroys HDR , because for that to work good, you need high peak brightness! To summarize; If you want 1080 p motion resolution (crisp details even when the picture is in motion, sport, fast paced video games etc ) , you need to enable BFI, but you will sacrifice HDR performance ! Or you focus on good HDR performance, and sacrifice motion resolution.
LG C1 77” OLED with PS5 = Satisfaction and Appreciation Guaranteed ⭐️
Broham I saw this 77 inch n Best Buy and almost had a heart attack in a good way 😂
C2 is a great panel.
Ordered the c1 yesterday, 55 inch
For 1049 euro the c2 price was 1700
LG55C1 went down to around £800 shortly after the C2 release. It is now around £1100.
I just managed to get the LG55C2 for around £1350.
Is it worth it? Here the c1 is 960 euros vs the c2 1300. Wich one should I buy?
The C1 in the video is a 55 inch or 65 inch ?
They are both 55inches
You are awesome
S95B + Black Friday!
Let’s hope for a good deal!
@@ItsSamuelJones A local shop just has a new 55" C1 für 750$. My current TV is a 46" 2013 LED. Should I go for the C1?
Go get your C1 on the low. I just got mine for a little over 1k and its absolutely amazing for the price.
Same,i bought a 55" for 930€ and its just such an amazing tv for the price.
I am sailing a C1
Is C2 42” oled evo?
Yes but people get confused about EVO. Evo isn't a physical panel. It's the technology LG Uses to get the most out of a panel. So the 55inch c2 uses a different panel which is why it is brighter.
I'm still using a 1080p led Vizio that's like 16 years old now lol. I'm over analyzing these new TV's, at this point anything will blow my current TV out the water. C1 price dropped. I'm getting it for sure.
You will thank your future self. Rare price and value in these times for $1k. Get help setting it up. It is heavy. I hurt my back dragging it up my stairs in the box.
@@ImakulatDeux I've had the C1 48 inch for almost two months now. Love it. Didn't have much of a problem setting it up myself. I was just very careful. I can see how the bigger models you'd definitely need help.
I am confused I had lg oled c7 for 5 years till from my own mistakes leaving it on Fortnite Home Screen I burnt images in just noticed boxes in certain colours anyways I purchased c2 only cause it was newer looked nicer but I really do prefer my 5 year old oled c7 thought the quality of images would be better haven’t played with settings enough but the old oled seemed Brighter in Dolby vision I don’t like overcrowded screen old oled u could still watch freeview or sky any input in small box was on while scrolling through other apps plus now I can’t pick up any freeview hd channels with new c2 oled with aerial ! Old one I could I’m thinking going back to old c7😂
