- In 2021, Jacob deGrom is having a season that rival's Bob Gibson's 1968 campaign. The New York Mets ace made MLB hitters look foolish and is putting up numbers at an historic rate.
But can he finish off the year injury free and clinch baseball immortality?

How does he only have 200 subs this is the best baseball channel I watch.
yo - this youtube channel HAS to blow up - you're just putting up some of the nicest sports content out there
You are underrated my guy, only 90 subs but the quality is there.
Thank you!!
Hey really enjoyed the video and good research on it!
It was probably just misspoken, but wanted to point out for future videos a 200 ERA+ is 100% better than average (or 2x league average). So Degrom having a 688 ERA+ is 588% better than league average (or 6.88x league average), not 500x league average.
Right thanks for clarifying! I mean 6.88 times better than league average makes sense but so does 688 times as well haha
Thank you for your comment. It was a glaring mistake in an otherwise great video.
(5:35) DeGrom's ERA+ doesn't show that he was "more than 100 times better than the common big leaguer," it shows he was more than 100 percent better than the common big leaguer. But great video, great job.
In late September, this hurts to watch knowing he missed the rest of the year to injury. However, it is a time capsule for what could have been...
Love Jake but one glaring omission in the stat profile between these two great pitchers…Complete Games. I realize it’s a different era but maintaining those stat lines over 9 innings vs the customary 6 or so is a big piece of him being ahead of Bob statistically.
Just to keep things clear so we don't spin the story out of control; deGrom's season so far has been absolutely insane, and a 688 ERA+ is utterly ridiculous by a starter, but it does not mean that he is 500 times better than the average pitcher, calm it down there bud. To find out how much times better or worse a pitcher's ERA is compared to the league average, using ERA+, you take said pitchers ERA+ and divide it by 100. An ERA+ of 688 means that his ERA is 6.88 times better than league average, when park and era adjusted; which is still mind boggling mind you.
for a shortstop he's a pretty good pitcher
Gooden never reached his potential....his 1985 season for his age ?19 will never be matched.
I like your vids so far but... mix up the background tunes so we don't lose our minds. Thanks.
Nice
Did degrom use substances when he was pitching? Love your content!
Thanks! And I'm pretty sure he hasn't. If he did, we'd notice a major difference in his stats and performances post-foreign substance crackdown. Seems like he's as clean as a whistle!
good stuff. let's be honest...if last year was a full year and there were no sticky stuff pitchers to 'catch up' to Degrom's stuff...we all know who the real Cy Young winner would have been.
All it takes is that one recommendation
DEGROMINANCE AGAIN
He's deGOAT
Great channel! But, you might wanna keep the whole "Mets fan" stuff quiet. Lol
Thank you! And never, its LFGM til I die, win or lose haha
