  • Before the season, the Friars were considered a potential powerhouse, possible N.L. West favorites and World Series contenders.
    But after two straight subpar months, the Padres find themselves way out of contention for the division and are in danger of missing the playoffs entirely.

    Im a Dodgers fan, look how many times they have been to the World Series and post season the last couple years, it takes time and things to go right for you! You can’t just have some studs have a nickname and just expect to have all in the end. Even the Dodgers have dealt with quite a few injuries this season from the start

    It never seems to matter who they get. They could be the greatest in the league that year, number 1 at hitting, pitching, and catching. But, as soon as they get here, they chump out. They stop trying, stop playing, stop wanting to win. Then, as soon as the Padres trade the guy somewhere else, they catch on fire and go back to being the great player they were and better. It must be something about playing in San Diego or is it the name of the team. I mean all this team ever does is help every other team look good and improve their records. Teams love coming here to play, it's like a sure thing to win and improve their records even if they are in the bottom of the division or even the league. These guys were on fire last year in the 60 games they played. They started out right where they left off. Then, the hit a road trip went to Chicago and have done nothing but spiral down ever since. I don't get it. All I can figure is their balls must have fallen off. They were the number one team in all of baseball and now they're just a laughing stock. What an embarrassment. I know if the Yankees or Philies played like this, the fans would kill them, figuratively off course. But, I mean seriously, what do they need. They make millions a year, get all kinds of benefits, are loved no matter how well they play and they still don't produce. It's like they went from the best to the worst and nobody knows why. They should be the top team in baseball and yet, right now, they the worst. They're lucky if they can win a game every two weeks. WTF!?

      Interestingly, they are like the Mets. On paper they are favored to go to October, but falls off mid season.Worse, there player performed much better after they leave. Look at Paul Sewald, Justin Turner, Wilmer Flores. On the other hand, some good players struggle when come to the Mets, Fransisco Lindor, Edwin Diaz, Jed Lowrie.

    Damn its hard not to blame the GM and Manager on this one. I swear i might sound like another pissed of SD fan but this all goes back to that 3-0 count in 2020 IMO players fought with each other over that (Tatis,Hosmer,Machado) & no doubt they proved that Tingler lost the clubhouse.

    At the risk of sounding insensitive about a great city, it’s just not the best for major league sports teams. Along with the Clippers and the Chargers moving, there are simply too many other things to do there to keep its sports teams flourishing. That being said, some of the trades, as stated in this video, missed their marks and resulted in a downward slide. They had a few exciting years and were popular back in the Gwynn, Winfield, and Randy Jones days. However, until very recently they never had the complete formula needed to be considered a great franchise.

    I've been thinking for awhile that someone should do a video on how Tampa Bay is so good with their small market franchise. Like, researching how their scouts continue to put talent on the field (especially the mound) for years. How they consistently beat the Yankees and more? Is there any videos discussing all of this? Maybe that would be something that you can do? I'm an Orioles fan and have been a fan of Tampa since they were founded because I wanted a team to watch besides the Baltimore. I lived in Jacksonville for much of my life and luckily, Tampa was on TV every game. I would love to see a video on them. I think they deserve one because of the question of "how do they do this year in and year out?"

    Just to note, Preller is locked in till 2026 so you can expect disappointment till then or until the curse has lifted off our team. Yes, I know there is a lot to do down here in SD but we love our Padres. They just don't always love us.

    As a lifelong Padres fan, sadly AJ has to go, the Dodgers keep punking him, first mookie then trea and max. Even the giants are now better and have placed the pads to a perennial 3rd place in the NL west. Let’s be clear, this team including the coaching staff is AJ’s team. The trade deadline was a huge bust, and now very little left in the minors to trade in the off season. It seems as if AJ bought the 2015 team then blew it up for prospects, then traded a lot of those prospects for more veterans. Now stuck with Myers and hoZ contracts watching teams like the giants get better overnight. Strategy not working so far, how much more rope to you give AJ if you’re ownership? Can anyone say Theo Epstein please?

    • @patrickr.5900
      @patrickr.5900 Před 2 lety +1

      You forgot to mention the Dodgers off-loading Kemp's huge multi-year contract on the Pads. Only Preller bit on that one. Kemp has a MVP type year (2011) and Dodgers sign him to 8 year/160mil contract. After three seasons under this contract, the Dodgers realize Kemp has major health issues (hip) and his production will drop big time (which it did). Solution: Trade him to the Padres and their new "Rockstar GM". I think the Pads only got 3 million from Dodgers to offset taking on his huge contract. 1 mil/year for first three years.
