After signing Max Scherzer to a giant deal, Steve Cohen is making his message clear to the rest of the MLB:
Gone are the days of bargain-bin hunting. His New York Mets will pay top dollar to the top free agents.
It’s a vast difference from the old Wilpon days of ownership. And it’s something that might define the Mets for years to come.
But will it truly change the direction and perception of the franchise? Only time will tell.
