    I think it would have been a really interesting idea if this Hoenn Gym Leader's ace was different depending on your version, since Seedot and Lotad are version exclusives and the lines are direct counterparts of each other. They could use the fully evolved stage you can't get in your version: Ludicolo in Ruby, Shiftry in Sapphire and Emerald. They'd both be on the team regardless but the one that the player can't normally find is given that ace position.

      One of the shared gyms between versions could be in the main hub city of the region and be fought at the same point in the journey (we'll say 5th Gym, and be a similar test of skill turning point to the Gen 3 Norman encounter, where you go through the city early-ish on but have to wait to fight it). I honestly want a Pokemon game where there is a gym leader for every type and you have to collect at least half of the badges to get into the main tournament or something. Upon winning that, the post-game would be collecting the latter half.

    • @samueldionne9675
      @samueldionne9675 Pƙed 2 lety +1

      @@artist0154 That's an understandable criticism, though ideally the game designers would take that into account to balance things out.
      As for the E4, instead of being type masters they could be strategy masters using Pokémon of all types. For instance, one could be all about having tanky Pokémon, one could be about hitting hard and fast, one could be about throwing around status, and one could be a baton passer.
      There are bound to be potential issues with this as well, but it is a way for the E4 to exist despite all types being used up in the gyms. If anything, I personally would enjoy trying a game with all the types having their own gym as a shake up to the traditional 8-gyms-in-a-given-order style we are used to, despite flaws like the fighting type sweep you mentioned.

Ash also encounters one individual and two groups of people trying to start their own gym (implicitly: ground, bug, and electric). And obviously the games CAN'T be the 100% accurate representation of how the regional really is. Nobody sleeps. Nobody has a toilet. There are huge mystery areas that are completely blocked by 4 foot tall rocks. It makes sense that there are other gym leaders.
      Especially if you think about how many trainers there were at the League at the end of the first season, knowing that you have just under a year to gather all the badges to qualify, there'd HAVE to be more than 8 gyms or else they'd be constantly busy.
