the most defining thing about mythicals is that they are not required to get "100%" completion in any modern game dex.

I don’t think that you’re correct in saying genderless legendaries was a rule. It only lasted a single generation (no genders in Gen 1) until Latios and Latias. Heatran and Cresselia also have gender.

Oh yeah, that's fair. I guess I missed that, if I had to guess I would say that 3 of those are at least a little explainable though, latias and latios having the gimmick of gendered legendaries makes sense as their siblings and clearly one more masculine and one more feminine, and heatran i kind of talked about just being a weird case a pokemon maybe being legendary just because it's strong. Cresselia i gotta say, weird case idk about that one. Thanks for the information though, sorry I missed that!

I think legendary are based on legends (they are true, they exist for certain & people have often seen/ experienced them) vs mythicals are based on myth (it could be true, it could just be some urban myth)

On the raritity it depend, some leggendary like lugia, oh- oh kanto birds ecc. There are more than 1.
Some leggendary are only one in the universe(gen4 trio+archeus/ gen 8 trio)
It all depends on the lore

I kinda always just viewed Legendaries as:
    1. Powerful
    2. Rare
I stopped there and would have prefered it to stay there, but gen 4 just went and made just god and sub gods out of them, something I always thought was just a poor narrative choice. That is also why I adore gen 9 for making the legendaries basically just goofy bike lizards aside from giving us more time to actually have a bond with it instead of it being more of a completion reward.
And yea, I personally have a grudge against Arceus for existing (and gaslight myself into believing Dialga and Palkia would be fine without it)

Oh btw Koraidon and Miraidon exist 2 times each at least.

    • @dinerslug
      @dinerslug  Před 23 dny +1

Yeah thats a fair list to keep it at but even then gen 3 still also had them close to gods with the boxart legendaries of that gen being able to control how much landmass there is and how much ocean, but yeah thats fair and I totally forgot the other koraidon and miraidon, which i still would count as limited but its good to bring up thank you!

    • @hamdepaf6686
      @hamdepaf6686 Před 23 dny +1

@@dinerslug ye I was kinda surprised you didn't bring it up because you where so thorough, but everyone forgets stuff sometimes.
Yea, a lot of Pokemon scratch the surface of gods, but before Kyogre and Groudon where made out to be also created by Arceus they where "simply"(if you can call it that) two powerful pokemon that shaped the earth and the sea.
Something Koraidon and Miraidon are also said to have done in some capacity. Interesting that Koraidon specifically mentions splitting the ground when it has a similar ability to Groudon. (Sparring partners in the past confirmed????)

@@hamdepaf6686 I do think Koraidon vs Groudon is such a cool idea man but hear me out, throw in Regigigas also as the other sparring partner too, The Continent Maker: Groudon vs The Continent Mover: Regigigas vs The Continent Breaker: Koraidon

    Legendary Pokémon:
    - are called Legendary Pokémon
    - are not Mythical Pokémon
    - include all of the Ultra Beasts (they are categorized as Sublegendary)
    - are genderless (except the Latis, Cresselia, Heatran, and the genies)
    - if not genderless, have a fixed gender (except Heatran)
    - cannot breed (except Solgaleo and Lunala, but that's more of a special ritual)
    - cannot evolve (except Cosmog, Type: Null, and Poipole)
    - are the sole member of their species (except for Sublegendaries, Cosmog, and one member of the Creation Trio from the HGSS Arceus event)
    - are banned from battle facilities (except Sublegendaries)
    - are featured on box art and in the title screen (except Mewtwo, Zygarde, and Sublegendaries)
    - may have a unique theme or one shared with other Legendaries (except Rotom, which is not considered Legendary)
    - are not called Rotom
    - cannot do my taxes (except Mewtwo)
    Sublegendary Pokémon:
    - are called Legendary Pokémon
    - are not Mythical Pokémon
    - includes all of the Ultra Beasts
    - are only called Sublegendary in the games' code
    - are genderless (except for all the ones that have genders)
    - cannot breed
    - cannot evolve (except Type: Null and Poipole)
    - are allowed in battle facilities
    - are the sole member of their species (except for Type: Null, the Ultra Beasts, and all the ones used in the battle facilities)
    - have high base stat totals, but lower than "proper" Legendary Pokémon and some non-Legendary Pokémon
    - are not called Rotom
    - cannot do my taxes
    Mythical Pokémon:
    - are legally distinct from Legendary Pokémon (the distinction has supposedly existed in Japan since the beginning, but international localization used to refer to them as Legendary before Gen 5)
    - cannot be received in regular gameplay (except for Deoxys in ORAS, Magearna in the Alola games, and Manaphy, Phione, and Arceus in Legends: Arceus)
    - are genderless
    - cannot breed (except Manaphy)
    - cannot evolve
    - are the sole member of their species (except Phione)
    - are banned from battle facilities
    - have 100 in every base stat (except Deoxys, Phione, Darkrai, Arceus, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, and every Mythical from Gen 6 onward)
    - have a base stat total of 600 (except Phione, Arceus, and Keldeo)
    - are not required for Pokédex completion (except Deoxys in ORAS and Arceus in Legends: Arceus)
    - can do my taxes (except Phione and Zeraora)
