  • Welcome back! Join me today as I discuss Antonio Conte, taking a look at his managerial history and his style of management before explaining his tactics, using his title winning Inter Milan and Chelsea side’s as examples.

Born in Lecce, Italy in 1969, Antonio Conte is a former professional footballer who played in midfield. An energetic, tenacious and intelligent player, Conte began his career with local side Lecce before he moved to Juventus in 1991, winning 14 major honours in just 13 seasons.
After hanging up his boots Conte went straight into coaching, spending a season as the assistant manager at Siena before taking the full job at Arezzo. Conte followed this up with spells at Bari, Siena and Atalanta before getting the Juventus job in 2011. 3 trophy laden seasons later he moved into the international scene, guiding Italy to the quarter finals of Euro 2016. He followed this up with a move to England, winning the 2016/17 Premier League in his first season with Chelsea and the FA Cup the year after. Finally, Conte returned to Serie A and took the Inter Milan job in 2019, ultimately winning the competition in his second season. But at the time of release, Antonio Conte is without a job.
► CHECK US OUT ON TWITCH: bit.ly/SMDTwitch
Much like Pep Guardiola’s 4-3-3 and Sir Alex Ferguson’s 4-4-2 at Manchester United, Antonio Conte has an iconic system: the 3-5-2. Key to this shape are three ball playing centre backs, a deep-lying playmaker behind two advanced and energetic midfielders and two centre forwards. The wing backs are also key, creating a 3-3-4 in attack as they hold his side’s attacking width before dropping in to create a 5-3-2 without the ball. Conte is very much from the Diego Simeone school of management and he demands hard work, aggression and intensity from every one of his players without exception. Whilst on the counter is where an Antonio Conte team are at their most dangerous, he still has a plan in possession. Often attacking quickly with direct, vertical passing, Conte does use a shorter approach at times to create space to attack higher up the pitch. In the final third Conte likes to create overloads out wide with his outside midfielders and wing backs, creating chances through crosses. Alternatively, he does have his central midfielders link with the forwards and create by playing into his goalscorers.
    Statman Dave Clips ➡ bit.ly/StatmanClips
Whilst the 3-5-2 is Conte’s iconic shape, he’s a very meticulous manager and often makes lots of small tweaks and adjustments to get the best out of his players or to gain an advantage over his opposition. His Chelsea side made great use of the 3-4-3 on their way to the 2016/17 Premier League whilst his title winning Internazionale have seen a midfield tweak, with Nicolo Barella operating from a more advanced position than his other midfield partners.
Antonio Conte is analytical, tactically superb and a great motivator but he also improves players on the training ground. Simply put, the Italian is a world class manager with a very intense and aggressive style. Defensively his teams are very solid and organised whilst being very efficient on the counter attack. Whilst his football can be abrasive to some, you can’t argue that he gets results.
But what do you think? How good is Antonio Conte? And where do you think he’ll be managing next? Let me know in the comments below!

Would love to see an Erik ten Hag comparison video, I haven't watch a lot of Ajax for a while and he plays with a more familiar system to United than Conte. However, like a girl who makes bad relationship choices, I'm more drawn to the toxic one because I know the ride will be an exciting one.

Ten Hag's style of play (from what I've seen, which is far from every Ajax game) seems more suitable than Conte's to build on what Solskjaer has been doing. Unfortunately, I think he's too bound to be the next manager at Barcelona instead. I mean, why the hell haven't they sacked Koeman yet? Maybe because they view Ten Hag as the only replacement option, and he's staying at Ajax until the end of the season.
Conte is far down the list of who I would personally prefer as the next United manager. But as the clearly most available option - and the only one that the club has been in contact with, according to most sources - I'm mentally preparing myself more and more to see the Italian come in the near future. And watching videos like this makes me a curious to see what he would do at United. We just want some change at the moment. Too bad Conte is highly unlikely to be a long term project, which is preferable considering our traditions of developing and integrating young academy players in the first team.

    • @KraokeUploader
      @KraokeUploader Před 2 lety +1

@@Fabio035 we are facing an identity crisis. No style, no passion at all. If we keep going like that and stick on young academy players (even when they are not good enough), we will become just another Arsenal (no offence here). We need men to do the jobs and boys to build from it, not the other way around.
Actually I prefer United to sack Ole right after the Liverpool game because the next head coach will have a week and a half to prepare for Atalanta away game. Man, that game will be crucial to our Champions League journey. But the board decided not to do that and gave him the Spurs game. So if the Spurs game not going well (which I think is a certain possibility) and they sack Ole after that, the next manager will only have 2 or 3 days to prepare for Atalanta. We might as well go with an interim manager but I can't see who can play the interim role at United right now. For what they've failed, Carrick, McKenna and Phelan should go because they are just not good enough.

United look so lost tactically so I want a manager who's going to look into the smallest details when it comes to coaching these players. I get Conte might be too defensive but our defense is really bad and he would secure that backline and make us better with the ball. We struggle to keep possession and don't know what to do with the ball which is why everything looks so forced in the attack and we have no patterns of play. He plays and gives chances to young players. He'll be the one to take this current group of players and get the best out of them to win us games and trophies as well as cutting out the vibes and instil tactics. Our squad is build to play 4-3-3, 4-3-2-1 and 4-2-2-2 formations, we currently don't have enough centre backs to play 3-4-3 or 3-4-1-2 regularly. If we are to get Conte in we'll not only need to get in 2 centre backs (Ideally 1 promoted & 1 bought) and we'll also need a young high potential defensive midfielder but for 4-3-3, 4-3-2-1 and 4-2-2-2 we only need a good defensive midfielder, the rest depends on Cavani staying or leaving us next season. Also, with Erik ten Haag we might start to see the best of Van de Beek.

Wow, there is a manager that actually has a plan, to win, football is defending and scoring, u can use defense to initiate an attack or possession to defend, but you can't win without a great defensive scheme, in basketball, they always say defense wins a championship, this notion is not talked more in football coz all that people see is beautiful last passes, n great goals, but even in football a strong defensive foundation allows n give freedom to attack n score, so this notion, he's too defensive is just crap...

Y'know the part about Brozovic makes me wonder if Conte would try to do something similar with Bruno. The guy's great at picking passes from deep (even though he doesn't do as often this season) and for an attacking mid is actually a decent defender plus very willing to press. Obviously it would suck to lose him up the pitch with the output he has sometimes but I feel like if anyone could make that shift work, it would be Conte. Would allow him to play in the 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 and make the team more flexible

    For those who want Conte:
Rashford, Diallo, Sancho, Fernandes and many others simply don't fit his tactics and will have to be sold.
We have to go into transfer window to find at least 1 midfielder, at least 1 centreback and likely a striker that fits his damands.
That's at least 3 transfers inn and the offloading of at least 4 fan favorite players.
All this for a manager that doesn't play with wingers, which is "the united way" since way back to the Busby babes, you can also say goodbye to all youth development and working youngsters into the main team. Conte is a ruthless winner, cost doesn't matter for him. He left Chelsea because he wasn't allowed free reigns, he left Inter Milan because he wasn't given the power and money he was promised ...how do you think Conte's poor temprament would work with the notoriously poor leadership (board and head banker staff)? Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho all said the same thing: that Man United isn't run like a football club, but a business. Mourinho's famous "...with Man United was the biggest achievement of my career" ...you know, I believe him.
Conte is a good manager, no doubt.
But he's not a good fit for Man United traditions.
He's not a good fit for the Man United squad.
He's not a good fit for the Man United board/owners.
Signing Conte would, imo, lead to another Mourinho scenario. stay 2, maybe 3, years and win a trophy or two ...then have a meltdown and quit/get sacked ...undoing all the progress and bricklaying Ole has done.
    ...get Ten Hag!
