- On August 1st 527, the 45 year old Justinian I, became sole Augustus, the new emperor of eastern rome. His first action was to reiterate the religious policy of Justin in a firmly chalcedonian edict. Justinian inherited an empire in great shape with a full treasury but for now he needed to deal with the persian war.

Easily the most underrated channel on CZcams
Totally his maps are better than some popular CZcamsrs
Easily
Can’t get over how much I love the map design on these vids
Looks like the many hours I put into creating the map were worth it
@@ancientsight Definately!!! I love it too!
Don't worry guys, I promise we're gonna fix all of Empire's problems!
Jokes aside, a really good video! Honestly CZcams is really underrating your channel. Perhaps we should make a campaign to promote you channel?
Definitely, you didn't get your "the Great" nickname without reason haha !
I really believe in the organicity of the CZcams algorithm, no need for self promotion. It will come in due time.
@@ancientsight I hope so. I've heard that if you post often in the community tab you can get more attention from CZcams algorithm. Then again, It's just the rumours so it might not be true.

Belsuarius was just a absolute unit
This was very fun to watch. The effort put into the map and editing is quite impressive
This is incredible !! I hope you cover roman history up to Constantine XI ! Hope to see Heraclius, Leo III, Basil II, th Komnenians, and the finals emperors !
Thanks. Yes indeed that is the plan
Hello man I just wanted to tell you , you are very underrated and your editing and research are both really great ,I wish you many more subs and recognition . Can't wait for the video !
I am glad to see that you like these videos as much as I love making them
You’re the greatest historian in the world!!!!
That is a huge compliment considering that historian is not my profession !
Excellent video!
Thank you.
I very much enjoy your stuff my friend! Maps are B-E-A-UTIFUL. THANK YOU for creating and sharing with us all. I hope your channel gets more more recognition that it definitely deserves. Please keep em' coming sir.

La lutte continue!
J'adore ton videos! Ou je peux obtenir les livres de ton bibliography?
Absolument !
Si tu parles des sources pour la vidéo, elles sont dans la description. Il me semble que je les ai tous achetés sur Amazon
Love ur videos ❤
I have been waiting since this afternoon to watch this. I wasn't disappointed. Keep them coming!
Ave IVSTIANIVS I MAGNVS MAXIMVS!

Thank you sir ❤❤❤❤
what a legend, your explanation is great thanks!!
Every video released with (Eastern) Roman Empire and no “Byzantium” nonsense instantly gets a like…. Though I’d like anyway because the videos are incredible!
Ngl the word Byzantium just sounds cool lol 😆
@@joeywheelerii9136 So does the Roman Empire ;)
Top like always 🔥
Amazing work as others have said. Hope your channel blows up soon, the quality you put on display deserves it.
You are my favorite under 50K history channel. You are amazing. Waiting to be exploded on subs count :) Keep countine!
Great video
It is a good one. I'm glad I discovered it
good timing, I've been playing a mod for Rome Total War Remaster that takes place in 500AD just a few years before Justinian became Emperor
Your vids are so good i just happened to stumble to your channel and binge watch all your vids
Oh and your maps are looking so great i was wondering wich program you used
For the recording : Audacity, for the graphical elements and the map : Photoshop, for the animations : After Effects
Un texte, un rythme et une animation encore plus fluide que sur les précédentes vidéos.

Everybody gangsta till Rome makes peace with the Persians
Well said, definitely accurate
Rome and Persians: *make peace*
8 years later, Persians: "I'm gonna pretend like I didn't do that!"
I just realised that he got only 1k sub's like wtf.
Justinian just was born and ruled in the wrong time. He had to deal with the worst year ever 536, which caused famine, the plague, and earthquakes. It wasn’t just the enemies of the empire, but also narural disasters.
Sometimes people blame him to spend all ressources and over extended the empire. But I believe he could’ve succeeded without the natural disasters.
At the end, all these misfortunes weakened the empire.
So that "dread portent" was probably a extreme volcanic eruption correct?
Quite possible indeed
There is prolly some lucky bastard patrolling the southern egyptian frontier on camel not having to bother with any of this.
Honestly a small desert outpost might be the best way to avoid the plague. I guess you gotta worry about bandits or something like that but it's certainly better than being in Italy or the eastern front.
But it also means no opportunity to loot
👍👍👍
👍👍👍
lei "El ultimo general romano", sobre Belisario. Ahi pintan a Justiniano como muy indeciso
Comment for the algorithm
We have a statue head for IVSTIANIVS I.
But it's a sin for not having a marble statue for ANTHEMIVS and MAJORIANVS
Belisarius is an absolute Chad
LEETTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Pt 2 when🥲
In 3 weeks I would say
Vandaliī delenda est
the romans were not weak by any stretch. they were just overwhelmed by so many issues all at once, both from outside and within.
🇦🇱
Are you going to reach tye Muslim invasion?
Yes
And way after that period
Much better than kings and generals
