2 years after I got my Fzs1000 I've put a corbin seat , speedscreen v2 and Pirelli Angels on her. Tons of power , fairly maneuverable . Fzs is a great bike !!

A generous set of figures by the reviewers. Ive had a Fazer 1000 for 19 years and have given it away to my son in law. I found it a mixed bag. Lots of power and high speeds were available but the chassis and suspension could barely keep up particularly 2 up with luggage. Sadly, the engine coatings are peeling off leaving an unsightly mess. Rear-wheel bearings had a total collapse and rubber carburetor mountings have had to be replaced after 2 years of ownership with another replacement looming 250 pounds a pop. The power band is colossal, trouble is, its in the wrong place it kicks in at the top end of the rev range. Thank goodness bike manufacturers now realize this style of muscle bike is not what buyers today want or need and now make bikes with linear power that are more suitable to today's riding conditions,

I traded up from the Fzs600 after regularly being left behind by my mates and also one day, after being overtaken by a thou, I foolishly tried to keep up. No chance.
I found that I was at least 10 mph quicker everywhere on the thou without even trying.
I got it Ivanised, MRA double bubble and a suspension set up and it was a fast, reliable scratcher and tourer. Good enough for me to keep her for 9 years and 40k miles, touring Europe and Scotland.
A great bike but I traded her in for z1000sx which is where Yamaha should have pointed it's FZ1 at. A lot of SX riders come from a Fzs/FZ1 background.
Anyways, I can't imagine that touring two up with luggage on a Fazer 600 was much fun, which is why I was surprised by their modest comments on the thou's performance. A great bike in my view but never mega popular with enthusiasts for some reason.

Only thing exciting about a Yamaha is their pianos now.
