@@gusdavid7798 @Film Toppings, I nodded off twice AND got a headache. Plus, I didn't finish it. Our fault for watching a Michael Bay movie and expecting seeing more than what Bay thinks is a visual spectacle. Even the exposition was full of jump cuts.
If this is a bad movie, I guess I like bad movies now.
The writing for this was just SO much better than 99% of action movies.
Joe and Nicky's relationship in particular felt really, really good, something that almost no other movie has done well in recent years.
I agree! Compared to whatever that Hemsworth flick was, this action movie was a masterpiece. And even by normal standards it was pretty solid, with likable and interesting characters

The writer, Greg Rucka (who also wrote the comic this is based on), actually had it written into his contract that the speech would be kept in the movie because he knows Hollywood can be uncomfortable portraying male homosexuality outside of bleak award bait drama

The best part is knowing that they were made to keep that scene from the comics and were given creative freedom with everything else about the film.

I know what you mean. I'm not super-claustrophobic but that was ridiculously scary. Can you imagine? I could picture myself in her place and I was having a little trouble breathing just from that. Dumbledore was right, there are worse things then death, and what happened to that woman is one of them.

It's like they're permanently stuck in the honeymoon stage of their relationship, it'll drive anyone mad. They act less like a normal couple and more like what people think a successful relationship is like.
This Honest Trailer makes me wanna see the movie. Hopefully that was the intended effect.
the movie is great, but it had a different effect for me cause i havent seen the trailer or anything, so when i watched it, i had no idea what was about and it just subverted so strongly for me. i hope you like it

I’d say give it a try! I personally enjoyed the characters and the action scenes, and I usually find action films boring. For a comic book film it was very decent. Just go in when you feel like some action and don’t set any expectations, and maybe refrain from more spoilers till you’ve watched it

Humans have pretty "short" lives but we still procrastinate a lot so imagine how much time they would waste when they have literally all the time in the world.
Let's make an example: you are watching this video and reading this comment instead of learning a new skill or doing something productive with your life (same for me of course) even if you have a life exctancy of "only" 70\80 years (if you are in a developed country).

It would be anyways impossible for them to remember their whole lives. Human brains just aren't built to store hundreds of years worth of memories.
how is our lifespan short? we're up there on the lifespan charts.
And their brains are still human and super prone to forget, distract, and miss details. So if they learned a super cool skill a hundred years ago, chances are they just forgot it by now.
This was by far the best honest trailer in a long time. Charlize angels. Bad boys for life. Poor immortal time management. Great stuff keep the good stuff coming.
Absolutely love this movie ...all the actors seem to gel together ..not seen anything this great in awhile ..please please make another asap
"These Illumihotties" made me laugh the most. However, I still shudder too much in existential fear at the thought of experiencing the pain of drowning every few minutes for decades or centuries on end to laugh at the "Iron Maiden! Excellent!" starring. Did chuckle a bit though.

Now that guy does immortality right. Built himself an immense organization he is in control of that has a reach around the globe that is even managed by his immortal children & descendants. He is a real manager.
And still not an obsessive workaholic, either. He once identified a rare wine behind his back, claiming he knew the sound of it being poured. And this was in a very serious situation. So he's either a major conneiseur of fine living, or an irrepressible prankster. Either way, he still knows to take time to enjoy life.

I imagine that Charlize Theron is basically the Imperator from Fury Road who lives through the post apocalypse and the rebuilding of civilisation to basically arrive at the modern era.

The Old Guard is what every MCU movie wishes it was.
Bad, nonsensical, and with literally no stakes whatsoever. I'm sure they'll love it.
You know, this video has gotten me thinking about immortal characters who say that they're trying to make the world better but all they do is fight little battles and hide in the shadows and then complain that the world isn't getting better. I mean, mortal people accomplish far more than that in less than a hundred years! If I ever write an immortal character, I'm going to say they got involved with politics.
Well yeah, that why I have no intention of watching this series. The immortal guys usually just do shadow government and really rich. Or they really good at what doing or just insane (live for too long and what not). I chuckled when I first heard about this, they acted like they were the first to came up with the immortal warriors thing. Blade of the immortal was more interesting than this, the manga , I mean. The Chinese cultivation novels even did better than this.
But.... then people would find out that they’re immortal..... and experiment on them.... like in the movie....

If your immortals are a secret group of warriors, no one will care if they disappear because a corporation is experimenting on them, but if they've been the leader of a country for a long time, they'd have accomplished a lot more and it would be harder to make them disappear so you could experiment on them
And to be clear, I thought the movie was average at best. But the things YOU'RE talking about have nothing to do with why. They explicitly addressed this in the film. Lots of other valid flaws to pick at here, but this aint it chief
When I saw this old guard movie, I often wonder what would happen if the were blown to pieces, or simply decapitated.
Or burned at a stake. Or dissolved in acid.
