I got a wild theory, that dog is trained to kill him if he ever ingests any drug
That got dark.
Lmao probably
Considering I've been watching this dude since I was a kid. Yeah that tracks.
He is his AA sponsor. Makes sense...
Ever? He'd already be dead.
"Sir, what is your disability?"
"Yeah, dude!"
Exactly... hate people like this.
😂😂😂
Just heard that in his voice 😅😂😂😂
"No Sir, "What" is not my disability."
I mean... Legally they aren't allowed to ask that question. There are two questions that employees of the airport or the grocery store or whatever are allowed to ask... And you're not allowed to ask what a person's disability is. You can ask if the dog is a service dog and what task is it trained for...like he said in the video... Those are the only two questions.
As someone who grew up in the 2000s, seeing Steve O like this is absolutely mind blowing
I love steve-o, I'm happy he has grown as a human and got passed alot of his demons but I have to admit I didn't think I'd ever see him grow old. I'm glad we do, but we have to admit it's a bit crazy

Service dogs should be on the floor when working. (I carry a placemat for her to lay on)
Yeah. If you've ever been attacked by a dog it sort of changes your entire perception of them.
Basically the most commonly dangerous thing in modern society aside from driving or living in a democrat city.
"What is your disability?"
"Have you ever heard of the Jackass film series?"
Lmfao lol
Right!!!!!!! I was like anyone who knows him definitely knows he is disabled just from that series alone shit !!!! lol
Yep
Yeah it's real funny making a joke of a service animal
@@fl1ntlock1 no seriously have you ever watched jackass?
Seems like an unfair advantage.
Some people like to claim their dog is a service dog but the dog is lunging and barking at people in the airport. A trained service dog does not do any of that. We just need to ask what they are trained to do.
This is something all that security could actually do something about. You can boot *any* animal misbehaving like that, service dog or not, though trained service animals obviously don't act like that.
I have Begged people to stand up to those assholes and tell them to leave. A service dog has to be well behaved, including around other dogs. You can legally have them leave if they're aggressive, causing a disturbance, or are not house trained. People put up with so much they don't have to out of fear of retribution, or they take it out on people with real service dogs, like me 🫤
I had this experience a couple of days ago. I was out shopping with my kids (5 and 2). A lady came in with her husky "service dog." The dog barked and lunged at both of my kids.
Service animal and emotional support animals are two different things. They can’t just claim a service animal they claim emotional support because it’s super easy for them to get paperwork for that.
Yep and they will
Continue to lie.
What’s your point? Even if it doesn’t seem like a service dog you can’t legally challenge one officiated as such
Who would have predicted a steve-o Karen arc lmfao
So Mr Steve O is the Karen? Perhaps those who have a nervous breakdown when they see a dog is the Karen, mhm?
@@ilikemitchhedberg Nah demanding your actual street dog be accommodated for at all times definitely makes you a Karen. Disability laws exist to protect people with disabilities. Not people who wish they had kids when they were younger and are having a rough time coping with it.
@@joex120 Exactly, the people who use this logic will have their "service animal" defecate and urinate in public spaces like a grocery story and expect the workers to have to clean up after their "service animal"...
@@joex120 Yeahh idk if gaming the disability system is the flex Steve-O thinks it is
@@ilikemitchhedberg Service animals go through very specific training to address a very specific medical condition. Seeing eye dogs, siezure alert dogs, diabetic sensory dogs, narcolepsy alert dogs... because they are able to sense a DANGEROUS medical situation before it happens and most often before the handler even knows, so the handler can take appropriate steps.
Saying "She is a mobility assistance dog" when you are CLEARLY ambulatory and move about just fine on your own is just scummy. Might not be illegal, but still scummy. Take the dog away from Steve-o and his "mobility" isn't impacted...
Not to mention, yes, most "service dogs" who arent actual service animals HAVE attacked other people and animals. A REAL service animal has only ONE thing on their mind, and its their handler.
Hipaa does not apply here. Only businesses and organizations that regularly engage in the storing and transferring of medical information qualify as a "covered entity" under hipaa. And even then, it only applies to patients. If you walk into a regular "non covered entity" you are not protected by hipaa, at all.
He's means ADA.
Agreed, this isnt HIPAA its ADA
The flight attendant question was a good one and she sounded like she asked nicely
She also sounded like she was a victim of people claiming their dog is a service animal when in reality they bought a fake “service animal” vest on Amazon and their dog isn’t certified AT ALL.
@@dayne6597 Buddy there is no certification for service dogs.
To add ADA defined a service dog as a dog who has been trained by a professional, organization or privately (by the disabled person for example).
The dog must not wear a vest or any special leash to identify it. It is not legal to demand registration or certification for a service dog, as it does not demand it under federal law.
There are no federal laws stating how long the training period must be. So yes technically you can take a pitbull named cupcake for 2 weeks, if it can do the task required then it’s a service dog.

That's just so sad. I had a service sog for a while after prior military service. He passed two years ago, and I didn't need his training by that point. But when I did, he'd never let anyone get too close. He'd wake me up from night terrors. Lots of others things. There are many who rely on service dogs. So many people take advantage of that system and undermine those who need it. It breaks my heart. I know people think they're not hurting anyone, or their pet is no problem. That's just not the case.
Tbh this is annoying. It’s definitely NOT required.. many people do this thinking their dog is trained enough, then it’s jumping, spitting, barking, getting personal space. I’ve literally seen it firsthand on a flight

Something I see a lot working in retail is people coming in with “service dogs.” They all have the same vest and none of them are trained -some have destroyed merchandise, made messes, or even lunged at another dog. It pisses me off so much because it makes it that much harder for people who have actual service dogs that are trained to be taken seriously. Service dogs are incredible for those who use them and I hate to see their image slandered by people just wanting to take their untrained dog with them places
Always remember, if the dog misbehaves in any way it can be asked to leave or be removed legally. Even if it's a real service animal.
I’d be careful about saying “”service dogs””. You can get into a lot of trouble for that.

im also personally afraid of dogs, ive seen what they can do. not saying his dog would do anything, but it just helps my fear. i wouldnt want anyone else to feel afraid while working either
An irrational fear of cats is why I'm not a dog person, although I still love some dogs. I didn't get attacked (Just knocked over and barked at by a random dog), just a scary experience. I'm terrified of dogs so I can only imagine what you must have felt

@@bethsullivan4613 you're right I don't have a clue about exactly why he needs a service dog, but I do have a clue about the dog and him. Wendy was a street dog he saved in Peru, he has a bond with her which I can understand. However just because he doesn't want to be separated from his puppy doesn't mean it becomes a service dog.
Anxiety can be a disability, but a service dog which often imposes extra challenges onto others might be a little much. It's like an amputation because your hand got cut, when stitches would do just fine.
HIPAA does not apply outside of healthcare and human services agencies. He is likely referring to the protections afforded to service animal users by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). According to the ADA website, “In situations where it is not obvious that the dog is a service animal, staff may ask only two specific questions: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Staff are not allowed to request any documentation for the dog, require that the dog demonstrate its task, or inquire about the nature of the person’s disability.”
Doctors/Counselors write letters for emotional support animals (ESAs). That is NOT the same as a service dog which is an animal trained to perform tasks to assist and individual with a disability. ESAs do not have to be trained but they are only protected in housing and in air travel. They do not have public access protection.
Great explanation, wish everyone would post it like they post patient rights.
Thank you… I am so tired of people mixing up HIPPA and ADA laws. HIPPA is about medical records being released. ADA is about protecting people with disabilities in public spaces.
I think Steve O was confused that the doctor isn't required to say why he needs a service dog (or ESA, I don't know the details) because that is protected by HIPAA. I openly share why I have my service dog, because part of her training is to read people for my PTSD. She basically let's me know when people are OK, and let's people know when to leave me alone. Along with that she aids my mobility l, but my mobility issues are not always present and can come on very quickly.
But I have never had an issue with anyone arguing against her presence. She is a very calm well trained dog who loves people but knows when I need her to focus.
Completely correct!
One addition: ESA has been so polluted and poisoned by fakes that airlines are beginning to write their own regulations… so always check with your airlines.
You CAN self train a service animal. But the animal should have the ability to be professional and nearly unnoticeable in public.
I still think they should have a program that you have to take with your dog to get some sort of certificate or something to weed out all the fake service dogs. I training mine to be a service dog for my crippling social anxiety and he is 1.5 years old and my life line. He has changed my life and iv been able to be more social with him he lets people know when i need space and lets me know before i even do when im about to have an anxiety attack
The next time Steve-O tapes himself to a truck going down a highway think about that “mobility assist” thing he said about the dog.
The dog is driving. Mobility assist.
At that point, the dog is moral support until the aftermath. Then the dog drags him.
She's already at the hospital waiting for him
Well if he's taped to a truck he's not actually moving

Nowadays all you need to get a "note from your doctor" for a "service animal" is to go to a health website and pay them $60. It's just a way for people to take their pets wherever they want.
And it's bullshit because people end up with these untrained dogs that misbehave every chance they get in stores, restaurants, on planes, etc. Service dogs are supposed to be trained animals. You shouldn't be able to just go by a doctor's note for your dog.

Because apparently some people are having their service dogs up on furniture for human only use.....
In the 90s, I only had to carry a Rx for my service dog. Now, due to people misrepresenting service dogs, physicians are no longer allowed to write Rx for service dogs, and it's getting harder to interact with businesses as more states are testing out violating federal law and banning service animals/refusing to enforce federal ADA law.
😒
My service dog is trained for DPT. When i worked at my previous job, there were times he'd hop onto the chair i was already sitting in, or a chair next to mine. He was just doing his job. Untrained animals in the cabin are to be stowed under the seat after take-off, i know that, and they're not allowed in the seat technically.. but don't believe it goes for service dogs especially for folks in my shoes..it would prevent them from providing their service if that were the case.
@@matthewb1529 yeah, DPT does add a twist to it.
Read how the laws are written, so you don't get taken by surprise, and potentially reach out to an ADA attorney for advice because several states specifically exclude service dogs from sitting in "seats for the public".
Canada also has multiple laws prohibiting service dogs from sitting "in seats or on benches designed for the public".
If I wasn't called in so often to testify, I wouldn't be aware of how many states are seeking restrictions on service dogs.

I have had to invest a lot of training into my dog because someone had theirs off leash run over to my dog and myself, resulting in them playing around because well, I am blind. So then my dog gets into her head other dogs are oh so much fun and now I have a problem. And this is the best case scenario, if it is a poorly tempered dog and aggressive she will become anxious and unable to work.
People are arseholes and they need to learn how to do a bloody recall or better yet, just keep them leashed. Not hard.
The one thing I would say is that no one needs to fake a service dog in Petsmart, they’re pet friendly and is a place to bring your dog, get dog training and also get dogs used to other dogs. My dog did her AKC good citizen training at Petco, so same idea there.
Yup. Mine was washed because of an attack. 😡

This is what I hate people using rescue dogs.
Imagine the police force using a rescue dog as a trained dog. In the eyes of the law, you could always use that as a pressing point.
This is why people who ACTUALLY NEED a service dog have issues because of all these people who want to take their PET with them.
A service animal is a MEDICAL NECESSITY!!!!
Your pet is NOT. ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL
This is why people who have disabilities hate having to go out in public where people like you assume they are able bodied or faking based on as little information as possible. His dog is a service dog. Keep your mouth shut about other people's disablities.
Sometimes I forget this guy is MILLONAIRE

I'm definitely bringing my emotional support tarantula next time I fly.
That is not a service animal, it is an emotional support animal. Service animals are highly trained. This is cheating the system.
It's unfortunate that people like this are actually making access for people with genuine service dogs far more difficult.
I so wished we would get some actual regulations on service animals. Too many people think this is okay.
Emotional support dogs are service animals? Like legally.
Some resorts this is really becoming a big issue. Resorts that people bought into that are no pets allowed. Now they bring them because they don't want to pay to board them like everyone else has for decades. Pictures show up with them at the pool, even in a bar sitting at a bar stool. The owner doesn't care. Screw everyone else.
Used to be better with fewer cameras around and things like that could be settled in the parking lot. You know, a little talk.
@ItsJustSeb no they aren't. Emotional support animals require no training and only have required access to housing that isn't pet friendly and some airlines.
Emotional support animals are important but they have less rights than service dogs since they require no training
HIPPA only applies to medical agencies sharing your info with eachother.
However the fedral ADA laws DO protect service animals in the way you stated.
This is correct (despite the typo. HIPAA has 2 As). HIPAA only covers "covered entities" and is not some general privacy law that controls what random people can and can't ask questions about.
The ADA on the other hand....
HIPAA, not HIPPA. HIPAA regulates more than medical agencies sharing your information with other medical agencies. If you are going to correct someone, you should be 100% correct. You are not. For example, HIPAA forbids your doctor from sharing information on your care with me. If they do not have your permission, they cannot share your information with me.
I’m sick and tired of people correcting others and being wrong.
@@dan1948He’s partially right. HIPAA also forbids a doctor from sharing information with unauthorized persons. REGARDLESS of that person’s profession. Without consent from the patient, it is illegal to share information covered under HIPAA

I work at a hotel where we ask what the dog is trained in. The question we ARE allowed to ask. 99% get mad or say they don’t have to give us that information because they just bought a vest for their untrained pet. Whereas the ones that do have honest service animals are quite proud of the training their animal/companion have received.
The answer I get most when asking that question is "emotional support", to which I then need to explain how they are dumb enough that they fucked up one of the easiest lies there are. If you are willing to go through the trouble of vesting your pet and lying that it is a service animal, the least you could do is a half hearted google search to realise the ADA does not recognise "Emotional support" as a service task.
If I had a service animal id be soo proud to tell anyone how special and amazing they are :) fakers with ESAs are truly ruining everything. Your bad behaved, untrained dogs are NOT even good ESAs.
There are two questions you may ask per the ADA. 1) Is this a trained service animal, and 2) what task(s) is this animal trained to perform.
People need to stop focusing on whether or not they’re real service dogs and start focusing on behavior. Service dog or not, it’s perfectly legal to not allow a dog that is behaving poorly.
@@ivyrose779 That's the point of real. If they behave like real service animals, then they effectively are real service animals. If they don't behave like real service animals, then they are not real service animals.
It's not HIPAA applies to medical workers. It's the Americans with Disabilities Act that covers this.
Most people dont understand HIPPA
It was especially apparent during the COVID year(s) when people tried saying that asking about vaccination status was a HIPPA violation

A service dog would be trained to lay on the floor, not a seat, and it also wouldn't be wandering away while on leash, it would be walking right next to him. HIPAA only applies to medical professionals. The ADA is what protects people from being required to prove a service animal is actually a service animal. He's right, they can ask what task the dog is trained to do.
First few statements are untrue. Service dogs are trained for the needs of the handler, and for some people that includes having the dog on a seat next to them or in their lap. Some dogs are trained to do specific tasks that would include wandering around, such as retrieving items and getting help. Also, service dogs have down time where they are not fully on duty where they can be more relaxed and not on high alert at all times.
@@TyrannostarusRex He's already admitted in another video that his dog was never trained to do anything for him, and that all he did was get a doctor's note. Stevo's dog was pulling when on leash, which is the first thing they teach a dog not to do in basic obedience, and they are taught to lay on the floor because that is the policy of most airlines. While you are right about a service animal being trained to wander around and retrieve items, that was not what his dog was doing in the video.

If you fake a service dog, you are a terrible person. I am having to transition my dog out of work at 3.5 years old and spend $10,000 on getting and training a new dog, because she has been attacked by fake service dogs. She’s even had security dogs try to attack her. These “fun” loopholes can ruin disabled people’s lives. Also if you are found to be lying about your dog being a service dog that is a felony in many states. And if your dog misbehaves in public, they can be removed, service dog or not. Examples include yapping, going after people, and lack of house training.
Yep. This kinda made me lose respect for him.
All reasons that real service dogs should have some sort of credentials required to be displayed on their vests.
It also takes all the seriousness and respect out of legitimately trained service dogs when every moron starts pretending their dog is an emotional support animal. If we’re being real it’s obnoxious and pets simply do not belong everywhere unless you literally need them.

I love this explanation. As a manager at an entertainment complex all I ask if service animals is that they are well behaved and you are able to tell me what task they are trained to do. So many times we get people offering up papers or not wanting to answer any questions at all which usually means the animal is not what they say it is.
If it’s a service animal it will be well behaved, probably more than some humans after a drink.

Same
service animals are not pets. they're medical equipment. if you're allergic, tough shit. ask to move or take your allergy medication. most people with service dogs can easily die without them.
I think that this is overly critical of this situation, and although I agree to a point and feel like people with allergies should get a say or something to distance themselves from a service animal if they want, I strongly believe if you don't have an allergy and a genuine service dog isn't harming you then I don't think it's your business what someone medically needs.
However this isn't coming from someone with a service animal, just to clarify. Just a moral commentary on something that felt miles more malicious and hateful than ever necessary.
My dogs worked as therapy dogs for Hospice, trauma & domestic violence centers & rehabilitation centers and they were certified service dogs. They helped hundreds of people & other animals in their lifetime. May they Rest In Peace 💗.
That being said, I never once took them to places that compromised their safety, my safety or the wellbeing of others. Most people could tell by how my dogs and I were behaving that I was in control & they were well trained & stable. It’s been my experience that while there are nasty people out there, most people who are questioning are either doing so because they are simply curious OR they can clearly see a dog and an owner who are not trained & are unstable & can’t handle the situation they are in.
Even at dog friendly places, if someone who was afraid & politely asked us to switch or move in a way that was safe/reasonable, I was happy to oblige and several times those same people struck up conversation about their fears & by the end of the conversation, they would pet my dogs and were emotional because it was the first time in decades they’d felt safe with a dog.
I have, however, witnessed a dozens of people in the last 10/15 yrs, with service dogs who were completely unstable & so were their dogs and even when someone politely asked them to switch arrangements, that in no way that would infringe on their rights nor compromise them or the dog, they lost their minds.
Unfortunately, we have so many selfish & unstable people in the US that will abuse the right to have a service animal & they either don’t care or they have truly convinced themselves that they are in the right.
I love how he rescued Wendy ❤
This law is abused by the rich to let their pooch in where they’re not allowed. For example, even though an apartment complex does not allow dogs at all, a tenant used this to get around it, and everyone began wondering how this was done, but the apartment management could say nothing about it. The tenant eventually lost the dog because the dog was barking all the time and that was something this law did not cover.
Yea this is classic entitled rich guy behavior lol
What we really need is a law that prohibits banning cats and dogs from rental properties.
It's still their private property but maybe if the law extended to rental companies or lease only apartment complexs cause fuck the big corporations they have money to repair any animal damage.@@KaraZiasapiens
That sucks that the dog barked so much. We had a neighbor with 2 adorable & otherwise well-behaved terriers & their apt was right by the front door that everyone walked through to get to their apt. 1 of the dogs would bark at every noise, even if they left the TV on. We were down the hall from them & it didn't bother me that much, but it could be annoying. I could never have had my dad's 2 adorable Yorkies at any apt, they barked at everything. I hate that Apts will ban cats & dogs, but you can still have however many kids there (depending on number of bedrooms & state law). Kids can do so much damage, but it's the cats & dogs that get banned. Make it make sense.
Smart tenant using the law to keep their buddy with them. All housing should be pet friendly. They could empty the shelters if all housing were pet friendly & affordable to do so (ie: no pet rent or stupid fees). It's so sad seeing someone have to give up their buddy because of their housing situation. 😢
I like Steve o but service dog animal people are the worst, unless there’s something physically wrong with you it’s pathetic that you can’t leave your house without a dog
So someone with PTSD should just leave their service dog at home and totally flash back to the Iraq War in the middle of Walmart just because of the fakers. Gotcha.
