As we near the end of 2 Kings, Fr. Mike takes us through Babylon's conquest of Judah, under the leadership of King Nebuchadnezzar. He touches on the importance of wisdom in the Book of Proverbs, and revisits the sons of Josiah in order to explain why the people of Israel are so lost. Today's readings are 2 Kings 24, 2 Chronicles 35, and Proverbs 8:22-36.

God would reply to St. Gertrude that He would use whatever was offered to Him for the faithful departed, according to His inclination to show pardon & mercy.

Day 190..let's do this 💪 🙌
A great milestone that shows the importance of repentance and giving God the first priority daily.
*Proverbs should be read every day! Wisdom is knowing our priorities and valuing things correctly. Knowing that God should be our number 1 priority and His love being the most valuable thing.
* Nabchadnezzer, the king of Babylon became a tool in the hands of God so that the people could learn the effects of the evil deeds they and their rulers did. Placing puppet kings, taking away God's treasures, and captivity.. All of it because people forgot what happened during Moses. This shows that if we forget the lessons taught by history, then history will repeat itself.
* Manassah got relief after repenting but his children did not get relief because of Manassah and his child sacrifices. But Manassah's children also did not repent. Each king should have followed God, repented for the bad deeds of their ancestors as well as for their own mistakes. This shows that we should always repent for all the sins we know and also those sins we do not know.

Whenever I've felt that Kings and Chronicles were becoming a bit tiresome, all I had to do was think back to Numbers and Leviticus and I immediately felt better 😅 Really looking forward to hearing about the prophets, and thanks to Father Mike for helping me understand the split between Israel and Judah during this period.

Lord, You are all knowing. Funny how I was meditating on how wisdom is so evident in your creation - from laminin, the most basic protein of animal cells being the shape of a cross, to how the moon reflects the light of the sun. WE want to reflect the light of YOUR SON. You have purpose in all of your creation and all creation is a reminder of your goodness! Grant us the vision to see clearly, to prioritize correctly and place value on the right things. All wisdom comes from you. We give you praise. Stay near to us, Lord. 🙏🏻
Jesus, help me to put You first despite my worries and desires❤.

I’m so lost! How many kings did the have
God wanted to remain their KING, but they in their free will wanted earthly kings. God allowed this to come about, even reminding them that could happen and laying out some rules. What a mess they made of it. Lord, have mercy on us.

So when Judah as a nation ended they had a vassal for a leader. That sounds familiar.
Why was the tribe of Judah exiled to Babylon? If the Babylonians were the most powerful, why didn’t they just occupy all of Israel?
It says in Kings, " Surely this came about at the command of the Lord , to take them out of His sight for the sins of Manasseh , who shed innocent blood all over
Judah and Jerusalm , and the Lord could not pardon that ."
....Consequences of sin !
Most of Judah were a learnt people. They were skilled and had a formal education when compared with the existing tribes. They would have been a great help in developing and maintaining an empire.
