Does God have permission to say "I want it back?"
We are all living on borrowed time. And borrowed gifts...and borrowed strengths... Everything we have has been loaned to us from God. At some point, God will interrupt our lives and will ask for His gifts back. He will interrupt our lives and ask for us to return all that has been entrusted to us. Will we be free enough to say "Here it is. I hope that the way I used it glorified You."?

Beautiful homily, Father Mike…. It made me think of my dad, who lost his sight in his 90’s…. He lived to be 101…. He was never bitter or angry at God for asking for his sight back… he was the most joyful man and always praised the Lord til the last day of his life… God bless you, Father!

My father suffered a cardiac arrest in 1999 and was given last rites. He was truly supposed to die then but miraculously recovered. ❤ he would always say he was loving on borrowed time. He died about a year ago and we miss him dearly. But he absolutely was an example of being happy and grateful for every moment. 🎉❤
Excellent homily, Father Mike. As always, your homilies inspire me to be a better Christian and accept the gifts that God has given me. I realize that someday God might want these gifts back and I ask for the grace to say okay take them. They were borrowed, now you can have them back. Thank you Lord for lending me all the gifts I have in my life.

It had made me realised that I've been living on borrowed time after I survived a major surgery last July and it has prompted me to reassess my priorities and make the most of every moment, not knowing when God will say “I want it back”!

Thank you Father Mike. My husband and I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary yesterday. We know we have been blessed. We are both cradle Catholics and 39 years ago, we knew we wanted a “church” wedding, but couldn’t tell you why. Today, we understand the benefit of our
Sacramental marriage. When God chooses to take it back, we know we have so many wonderful memories and coupled with our faith I pray to remember this homily. All praise and Glory to God.

"It's how you get there." I so needed to hear that this morning. I've been struggling with some past decisions - some were actually my mistakes since I hadn't really sought God but some I truly sought God and was sure of what I heard.
