The round mound of rebound, Chuck is an amazing guy. Never pretentended to be more than a ballplayer, constantly downplaying his role model status throughout his career. It always shocked me that a guy with his height and weight could not only grab rebounds over 7 footers, but then bounce right back up and dunk with great power. The guy had an unreal physical skill set.
He was just a freak of nature. He played like he was 7.’
Long arms and quick twitching muscles allowed him to jump twice while the next player is just landing from jumping once. Charles also was a master at reading where the ball was going after hitting the rim. He went after rebounds among the tress compared to players waiting for the ball to fall their way.

Well, Shaq had 4 rings, and Chuck had 0. Shaq had 6 finals appearances, and Chuck had just 1. Shaq was just a better player, was able to play with some of the modern-day players, meaning that he knows how the game is played today better than Chuck because he played in it.

Underrated? If you watched basketball in the 90s you would never make this statement. He was a superstar, one face of the league. And I say that as a German. Even overseas he was known like MJ, Shaq and Magic. And today he is still on every top 5 power forward lists.

He won mvp over mj in 93 and deserved it.
I had the privilege of meeting him when I worked at Crunch Fitness in Atlanta. It was after he retired. He showed up one day with a trainer to prepare for a comeback (which didn't end up happening). At 295 and, in his words losing a pound a day, he did some weights for awhile then he'd take on all comers at 1-on-1 for an hour or so. We had some decent players as members. I was not one. I sat under the basket and watched. It was hard to believe such a big man could be so quick and so graceful. He was very nice to everyone. I got my picture taken with him. He came for a month or so, then he was gone.
The guy is a national treasure both on and off the court.
If they gave out rings for the best/funniest sports analyst, chuck would have more rings than bill Russell
Averaging 14 rebounds, at 6'5, in the era where centres were monsters is just unfathomable to me.
He's my favorite player of all time. Was really sad to see him lose to the bulls. He never backed down from anyone. Even got into a fight with Shaq. But he was shorter than most rebounders and still beat them. One of my heros
Same, he was amazing, he had so much heart. He deserved to win at least one time, he just didn't have much luck, same for Ewing, Malone, Stockton, and a few other ones.

@@EJHayes-qo4qi You can probably find the games on the internet, now the thing is the quality of the video is far from what you'll find nowadays. But honestly, games in that era were more intense, more physical, and I find that the players had better knowledge of their position and the game.
Watched this man as a Sixer,Sun,Rocket, and this guy have it all every game. Absolute intensity and a scorer , could dribble, pass,
and a banger
To anyone who didn't see the man play back in the day: There have been few people able to take complete control of a game. Chuck was one of them. When he was in the zone, there was no doubt that he was gonna be the one to decide the game. Sometimes, it seemed like he got every rebound, made every shot, ran every single break. The only detriment to his career is that there was this one guy who did all of that, but just a tiny bit better.
I loved him as a player, I love him now, because he brings that much needed down-to-earth attitude of a (former) absolute elite superstar to every conversation he partakes in. He is the GOAT of putting things into perspective.
You watched him play I keep wondering why he left the suns
Kc Okenkpa I don't really remember what he actually said about that topic back then. But I bet that he saw his window to win a title was closing. He already was on the decline when he went to the Rockets.

The Round Mound of Rebound was a beast. It's a shame he never got a ring but that era of the NBA was extremely stacked.
Barkley had a 3 year stretch where simultaneously he lead the league in offensive rebounds and in 2 pt FG% (86-69). He also lead the league in triple doubles in the 92/93 season.
That's because he was missing shots at the rim and catching his missed shots.

10⁹⁷³. Charles Barkley 0.80
Now, would you say Barkley was a great rebounder? Not me. He grabbed rebounds at a rate expected for a power forward. Most people would say rodman got rebounds comparable to Barkley but Barkley scored too. But, if you look into gameplans, matchups, and deeper than basic big 5 box stats... Barkley doesn't compare to the worms abilities.
Career games with over 20 rebounds
Charles barkley 54
Dennis rodman 158
Total career games played
Charles barkley 1,073
Dennis rodman 911
Rodman performed at a high level on three times as many games as Charles did with 10% less chances to do so. And on the 90s bulls, rebounds were a lot harder to come by than on a team with Charles barkley.

Barkley at his peak was one of the most amazing players I've ever seen!! They always listed him at 6"6 but in reality he was a shade under 6"5. For a player of his height and bulk he had INCREDIBLE agility and hops combined with a motor that never seemed to wear down. And watching Sir Charles go end to end on a fast break was something to see!! Without question he's one of the top 50 NBA players of all-time--and I might go as high as top 30.
You gotta love Charles Barkley what a legend
Sir. Charles Barkley is a legend, period.
His Nike sneakers were also the best after Jordan himself. I remember rocking the Air Forces 180, the Air Max Force 93 and the CB 94s.
I had the Air Force 180 highs back when they were new and even though they looked awesome, they were not good to play in at all. The soles were so slippery that they were almost unwearable on the court.
Iverson were way more dope.
I’m glad I was born right around the time to be able to see the amazing players of the 90s like MJ and Barkley as well as seeing the entire career of my favorite player Kobe Bryant along with all the crazy good players of that era. Even though it was only the tail end of his career, I still remember Barkley being so good while being heavily undersized for his position. I wish I could have seen Barkley and players like MJ during their earlier days as i really wish I was able to compare Jordans entire career to modern players lo

Barkley was the truth. I remember the Finals against my home team, the Chicago Bulls. That team, in general, was a great team. KJ and Thunder Dan Marjle with Barkley were tough. People talk about undersized big men like Rodman, Green, e.t.c but Barkley was MJ's height playing the 4 and dominating. And this is with him being overweight.
I remember him saying the people of Chicago should be grateful that they beat the Bulls, because they saved their city from another celebration riot.
One of the greats. ' 93 was his peak. No ring doesn't mean a thing. Great basketball IQ.
Great to see someone give him the respect that he deserved
Hey bro, thank you for the video. Phenomenal job!
You really undersold that PHX team. They won 50 games or more from 89-92, made the WCF twice, KJ was 20ppg-10ast on 50% FG for 3 straight yr, arguably the 2nd best PG in the league at that time. Chambers, Ainge, Hornacek, Majerle, Dumas, EJ, O.Miller, West.
He certainly was a beast. In that ‘93 Finals he averaged 27.3 points, 13 rebounds and 5.5 assists.
