I had Chicken Fried Bacon for the first time at the State Fair of Texas years ago. Since we love chicken frying various proteins, and we make a very popular Chicken Fried Breading, I decided to create my own recipe and video for the Meat Church Congregation. What does it mean when something is chicken-fried? It means it is coasted in seasoned flour and pan-fried to deliciousness.

I grew up eating what my mom called "side pork." It's the meaty part of pork belly. Dipped in milk and floured, salt and pepper, and fried. It tastes like the really good crunchy fat bits next to a pork chop bone.
If my mother watched this she would have said “that’s livin’ right there!”. Great video, thanks for filming it. You’re definitely expanding my cooking/smoking experiences, especially in the tailgating/appetizer areas like this chicken fried bacon. Lord knows everyone has put out enough brisket, butt and rib videos out there. So expanding into new areas like this is welcome and greatly appreciated! 👍🏻

Sodolak's in Snook, TX is where Chicken Fried Bacon was invented. I drive by there twice a day on my way to and from work. It's an amazing treat.

When I was little, my great grandma would bread and fry bacon. For the longest time, she was the only person I knew to do this. I remember it being so good. 😋🥓

I recently did a pork loin with the honey hog BBQ rub on my gas grill for Easter and everyone absolutely loved it's flavor and how juicy it turned out. Very glad I made the right choice in rubs.

I use blanco all the time now I was using AP seasoning for everything. However a hot pan with a good olive oil and some minced garlic add asparagus and season with blanco, and heath riles jalapeno garlic is banging

Wow! Great idea. The last couple of years to my flour I add plain panko and bread crumbs. The last time I made Chicken Fried Steak I used crushed corn flakes, it was so good

We had a place close to where I live in the northeast that served the same thing and that was back in the 70s. Owner must have had Texas roots. They shut it down when they retired in early 80s. Another part of the charm of the place was they had the "expect rude waitresses" sign on the wall and above the kit door a sign that said "complain all you want, we are going to do what we think is best". That sign was hand carved!! lmao.

so i made chicken fried chicken the other night using the chicken brine, chicken fried breading and Blanco using boneless skinless breast and letting it brine for 18 hours and seasoning the breading with the Blanco and let me tell you, definitely something that yall need to try!!!! the breading had a great crunch but the breast was so tender, moist and unbelievably juicy!!!! EVEN AFTER being in the fridge all night and microwaved for lunch the next day...
One of the former Governor Bill Clements' gavotte things was a Chicken Fried Tuna Steak, from a restaurant in Dallas that is long gone. I had it once, and it was actually very good.

The Best Bacon I have ever made, was thick cut apple wood smoked! And then I put some cracked black and a small amount of maple syrup. Put it on my Weber for about an hour with apple wood smoke. Good thing I made 2 LBS cause everybody in the campground came over ! I am intrigued to try this out!

Well now!! How can I not try this? Every thing I make after viewing one of your videos is a hit around here. Made two of those brown sugar honey glazed hams for Easter to rave reviews. Meat Church products have come to dominate my spice racks over time. I'll be ordering that chicken fry flour as soon as I am done typing this.
Was just reading about how the Chicken Fried Steak was created in Lamesa, TX. Also read about a Chihuahua sandwich created in Lamesa at a movie theater. Ever had one, Matt? Might be a cool recipe to try someday.

well I gave this a try... I just turned 50 a month ago and this was the first and only time in 50 years I have put bacon in the trash. I'll stick to just bacon without the extra stuff that just takes away from it's greatness.

How cooked does the bacon get? I like crispy bacon so I'm thinking a par-cook on the bacon and then let it cool down a little might help give it a crisp on crisp effect.

I tried the fried steak for the first time last year with your video, but mine the breading did not stay on at all. you could cut off an end and slide the meat right out. LOL what did i do wrong or any tips? I followed the video as you went down the recipe. Thanks for the help!!
