First thing I noticed was the missing clip on the radiator cover....Can definitely hear the ticking noise, I thought it might be the variable vane noise the turbo makes. Love the suprise at the end...remapped/catch-can.

I have a 2012 hilux 125000kms with a tapping sound i can hear it when the windows up & the radio off it's like 1 noisy tappet kind of sound it's annoying the last time I had it serviced it was at the dealership they did a cold snapshot is what they call it. They connect to the computer then do a cold start & said it had 1 injector slightly out compared to the rest but said it was ok.
Can you recommend any reputable 1kd-ftv mechanics in QLD?
Just curious on catch cans for the 1kd ,, are they beneficial to the motor , or just fancy bling that does jack shit for engine longevity ??

Did you find what the ticking noise was? I have the same year though mines a hilux 1KD FTV never been pulled apart. only has 71,000 k had it 3 years. Had 20k on the clock when I got it. Injector feedback on no 4 is 2.4 on first cold start and comes down to 0.8 as it warms up. All other values are in spec main inj, load, etc, according to your information on previous videos and I’ve watched a few sometimes twice. Revs nice when cold no smoke either and no knocking noises while driving runs very quite when warm. Can I just ask will a partially blocked manifold cause a higher inj feedback value.? Seeing as no 4 and 3 get blocked the most, could this be an indication I’m due for a clean.
My triton rattles a lot cold
Then goes away pretty much when it’s warm

Nick here... This was helpful as I have 2007 LC Prado d4d... it’s done 130 thousand miles that when cold is quite raspy... or a slight rattle. Once it warms it smooth and quiet. I was concerned but now this reassures me. I don’t think it has ever had injectors... I am going to check the egr is clean. What diagnosis machine do you recommend? Thanks for your great videos.

Hi I have a problem when parked nose down there is heavy smoke and a loud clanking sound when I start the Hilux D-4D 2005 model Could this be injectors.Someone suggested replacing the copper washers and O- rings on the injectors because there are weep holes in the head behind the valve lifters,that allow oil to run off the head into the injector tubes when engine is inclined toward the front.Thx
