Definitely. In many other countries, huge percentages of football fans support the biggest 2-3 clubs. That includes Spain were it’s estimated that around 60% of fans support either Real or Barca.
In England and Germany, so many clubs that have no chance of even reaching the top flight in the short to medium future, let alone achieving anything beyond that, have large, passionate and loyal fanbases.

It's great to see English football booming after the relative dark days ofthe 80's.
Of course some will instist fotball was better back then and what with the back pass rule, so many teams playing for goalless draws (due to only 2 points being given for a win) cap pitches and the long ball game being in vogue, who could blame them 🙄
It really does make you wonder why so many more people are attending games now, despite the higher ticket prices 🤷‍♂
That said, it's not accurate at all to claim attendance in League 2 is within the top 10, although the number are still imprssive.

  • @sheffsteel7
    @sheffsteel7 Před 6 měsíci

The real problem is the different organisations all have self interest. In England we have 3 organisations the PL, EFL and FA. Parry is in the EFL gang so isn’t interested in football as a whole, he’s only bothered about the EFL. Also regards money distribution, if the EFL receive more money it will simply drive up salaries and transfer rates in the EFL, so the extra income will have zero real effect regards helping clubs survive.

  • @DSAVAGE92

Haven’t listened yet, but depending on the context of that title, that’s absolute hyperbole verging on a lie. League 2 avg attendance is nowhere near top 10 euro league avg attendance. Not even in the same universe. I could name 20 euro leagues with higher avg attendances, and if we’re talking total attendance, League 2 clubs play 46 games each, plus potential playoffs (far higher than most euro leagues)

And without knowing the ins and outs of how much money the Premier League has at it's disposal SO THEY BLOODY SHOULD OF!!!
I remember Simon Jordan saying something to the effect of the SPL clubs have £40 million worth of TV money to share between themselves every year but in comparison Brighton were given £115 million alone at the start of last season in TV money from being in the Premier League that season so it's not as though the top division in England is hard up for money is it?

The ‘facts’ press conference is always a stick to beat Rafa with and that Stoke draw is justified. Unfortunately Man Utd were probably the best team they ever had with Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez. Liverpool had Robbie Keane for the first half of the season who did well but then Benitez sold him back to Tottenham. Had he stayed, who knows we might have won it. 4 points was the difference. Liverpool were brilliant that season but for that Man Utd team. Also Rafa Benitez was right. Man Utd got everything. The media, FA authorities were all scared of Ferguson.

Surely this question applies to the entire general UK population and not just athletes?
Unfortunately the mainstream media (including youtube) have proven that they are woefully inadequate at asking the difficult questions.

I sit listening to this red cartel protectionist feeling an incredible sense of pride that my club managed to blow the doors off his and his friends plans to restrict competition, such a shame no other clubs fans will get to experience what I did these past few years....... Ultimately I would like to see a level playing field, a true level playing field I'd give every trophy and penny we have to see it. This charade of equality based on accepting crumbs from the red cartel table is sickening. Sadly the likes of Parry, Gill et al never stop behind the scenes to ensure the monopoly remains and the show rolls on...... Interesting conversation thank you 👍

The England is best hyperbole needs to stop. My local team Southend charges over 20 quid a ticket. They are a non league club. Teams on the continent don’t charge ridiculous sums of money for a terrible product.

Simon I don't lile politics in sport unless it's right wing politics has never liked Rafa. So naturally Rafa is a good man.

I wish Simon would stop trying to prove to us how much he knows and attempting to finish all of Parry’s sentences. Parry’s also very fidgety.
    Annoying
