This is Derek’s best interview, I thought I’d give it 5 minutes and watched the whole thing. He showed a side of him which hasn’t been captured before. Simon did a great job!
Atleast Derek is loyal and proves he's a real friend. The same can't be said about most people in life.
@@doves9204 Bit of bias from Chisora when it comes to Fury. He didn't mention that Fury failed a drug test the same year he fought Klitschko and should have been serving a 2 year ban, instead of being allowed to fight for a world title fight. Then Fury failed second drug test in the lead up to the Klitschko rematch. That's why he vacated all titles. Had no choice, was about to get all titles stripped for a failed drug test.

Derek didn’t articulate very well but he is spot on with his point. There is no two ways about it. It isn’t a race card it’s a societal structure you can either chose to acknowledge it or not

Can not fault Derek, he has the best list of opponents of anyone in the past 15 years.
He doesn't care about protecting his '0' he just fights anyone and everyone, and gets on with it.
Yes he's starting to show signs of damage but it's his choice to keep going to war.
He didn't care about his "0" because he was never good enough to have one, he is a second tier fighter and now he's a punch bag for the Wannabees.🥊

The fact he didn't care about losing, didn't mean he just got in the ring for a payday, he always gave it 100% and he's been in some of the best fights I have ever witnessed (and I'm 54 yrs old, been watching boxing, and training in boxing and martial arts myself for decades).
At least he has entertained fans and given them plenty of great fights, even the ones he lost, most were fantastic fights, especially ones with Whyte for example, which were both FOTY candidates.
Some of the best in the division have bored me to sleep.

Derek is a truly unique and individual person. Doesn’t necessarily make him always likeable, correct about things or the smartest fella when going up against someone as articulate as Simon.
But i thank him for some great nights of entertaining boxing, his DW fight was a truly great night and watch.

He’s my favourite fighter in the game for the last 10 15 years. I don’t care about his record. He always comes to fight, the only frustrating thing is he never came in the best of shape the first few years of his career. But his heart, his will to want to crack your jaw is throwback. I always hoped he could of won a world belt. He deserves one.
He does, glad he’s earned some decent coin over the years and is hopefully set for life.

Derek is right with the Ricky Hatton example. People only really start appreciating people when theyre gone. Lets champion everyone we love while theyre here with us!
I mean Ricky was probably the most appreciated fighter by the uk fans while he was active, that’s why he was able to fill a stadium at a time when stadium fights weren’t the norm, and also why he took thousands of fans over to vegas to fight Floyd, I would say a better example is probably Lennox, the British fans never really got fully behind him during his career but everyone agrees now that he’s one of the greatest to ever do it.
Eubank even more so- once he lost.
Great to see a lengthy interview with Derek allowing him the chance to explain stuff without the mania of a fight having ended or about to start. Sure he'd love belts etc but to hear him say he's in it primarily as he genuinely enjoys a scrap & the wage is refreshing. Not disillusioned like many, knowing his level but ducking no-one & just wanting a good fight & a fat cheque to continue paying bills and, when all done, regardless of outcome he's straight in their dressing room with bags of Five Guys for all. Easy to see why he's loved by many.

I think he trialed, not played. Dozens of youngsters go to big clubs for trials which may be one or two days training and try-out.

I remember when Tyson fury fought wilder for the 3rd time,Tyson fury promised that he would look after the local fighters,his friends he called them,he named them the first fight Dillon white,which he did,2nd fight chisora which he did. Tyson fury has made them and their family comfortable.fair play to tyson fury he kept to his promise.those that knock him.remember tyson is true to his word.

Simon is a prime example of an archetypical Narcissist and a gift to those who have little more than an academic understanding of this condition. I think what Derrick is saying about Simon is that it's good to give an opinion...but Simon's history shows that he is normally taking down a person rather than building them up....and always sounds bitter and resentfully disrespectful doing it.

Really interesting to hear Chisora’s comments about Frank Warren paying well…but late. Even as a wee lad following boxing in the 80s and early 90s pre internet days there were always stories and rumors about Frank’s fighters not being payed on time and in some cases not at all. I’ve always wondered how much of that was just wind up and hyperbole verses how much may have been true. No smoke without fire as they say and Chisora seems to be confirming that here.
In fairness Frank was running box nation at the time of chisora with him. An everyone knows that nearly bankrupted him as the main investor pulled out in the last minute
I can barely think of a single fighter that went on to be a success with frank warren that didnt end up in court with him, hell one fighter thought the best outcome to his trouble he was having with frank was to shoot him. Either frank doesnt pay his fighters or it just happens that every boxer he has dealt with has just been incredibly unreasonable. I think i know which sounds more plausible

I’m not a fan of Simon when he’s on Talksport , but his interviews here with members of the boxing fraternity are really interesting . That’s probably down to the stories of the interviewees, but interesting none the less
Yes asks questions and says things that make me wince sometimes but the boxers seem to have a level of respect for him which to be fair whether you like Jordan or not if your been fair you've got to have respect for the money he's earned and his personal achievements
