- This is Up Front with Simon Jordan. A new show brought to you by William Hill that pulls no punches and tells it EXACTLY like it is.
This week we are joined by one of only 15 players to hoist a Premier League trophy, Tim Sherwood. A core part of the successful Blackburn sides of the 90s, Tim went on to make over 600 appearances for a number of teams before being thrust into one of the biggest jobs in management after the dismissal of Andre Villas Boas at Tottenham Hotspur.
Largely responsible for nurturing the talent of England captain Harry Kane, Tim joins the show to discuss his own career whilst giving us the inside scoop on the past, present and future of Tottenham’s greatest ever goal scorer.

I respect what sherwood did in a short time as interim
spurs manager… got adebayor playing, unlocked bentaleb and gave Kane the chance he needed
Am an Arsenal fan and I liked him when he was at Tottenham. Wonder why they never gave him a look
@Andrei Cossack because he wasn't good enough, it's not that hard to figure out!
Go look at his Villa job for reference
@@TribalScan. To be fair, Villa was a shambles at that time. Apart from Grealish, they had nothing to shout about.
@Old_School_BoxingFan1 it's "not to be fair" . Sherwood was given a chance to prove himself at another club, and he wasn't good enough. If he was good enough, he would be in a job now. It's really not that hard to understand
@@TribalScan. Mourinho failed at spurs does that make him a bad manager?
Great interview - nice to hear a no holds barred conversation. More of the same please.
Brilliant Simon, not pulling punches, to the point and a breath of fresh air as an interviewer!
He's pretty decent, but he does like to play up his contacts with owners and Managers from being an owner where Crystal Pal!! Maybe I'm a little cynical but I think he over exaggerates his relevance and influence a little!
This was a good conversation& as a Spurs fan I appreciated his passion& honesty at Spurs( even if others didn't!)
@floridaspurs4585.......Are you feckin' serious?!? ANY interaction involving Simon Jordan is predominantly ALL about HIM!!! There is a simple rule to any form of 'interview' - 'If you are talking, you ain't learning'. Despite Jordan's pretentious drivel at the beginning of these sessions about 'learning' - he blatantly doesn't understand that!
@@thesoultwins72I totally disagree, the reason why he is so in the know about most topics are because he does listen and does take on board. Intelligent people can talk and listen in equal measure.
Great interview… Tim comes across as a good bloke.
Tim always comes across as a good bloke to me.
@@johnholthouse9604 I’m glad we agree
As a Watford fan I always liked Tim Sherwood. Started his career with Watford (local lad). An honourable career on and off the pitch and a straight talker. Great interview - thank you gents.
Is that because you like people who like saying your team's name "What" which is pronounced the same as the "Wat" in Watford and Tim Sherwood is the master at incorrectly using the word "what" instead of "that". I.e "The team what was chasing us" 😂
Such a great player, person, father figure, Tim. Loved him at Villa. Always supportive of us then, and since
Loved him at Villa, put a smile on our faces and got us to a final even though the day was a disaster
Great discussion. I've been a Blackburn Rovers supporter since 93/94. What a great captain Tim was.
Loved him for the Villa. He gave us the brief spark of light in an dark period for the club. Got a lot of time for Tim.
Fantastic interview. Well balanced and brutally honest. Enjoyed it.
Loved Tim at the Villa, wish he was given more of a chance and sparked some optimism, he was a shining light during a gloomy period for the club.
Tim Sherwood should have seen out that season without a doubt
Mate... He was woeful for us
Simon is so refreshing. Brilliant podcast, brilliant on the Radio. Tim came across so well. Thoroughly decent honest bloke
Really wasn’t looking at this podcast as a good watch, but I’m glad I made myself have a listen, because I found Sherwood a very interesting listen. Well done UF
Thanks Tim , thanks Simon.
Tim, you represent the game we love and its values hats of to you sir . 🙌
Say what you want but one thing I’ve always rated about Tim Sherwood was he always would be honest and a straight talker.
Simon jordon is by far my favourite presenter. An absolute breath of fresh air. Zero fear of asking the tough questions
If only he would let them finish their answers.
@Harvey077.......Mmm ....your bar seems to be set very low. With 'run-of-the-mill' sports 'personalities' such as boxers, footballers/managers etc [where Jordan is mildly more intelligent] he can conduct a reasonably interesting interaction.
However, it would be really interesting to see Jordan up against someone with far superior intellect or from a sport he isn't so familiar with. [eg: I would love to see him try to interview a Sir Dave Brailsford!]
Otherwise, Jordan has to be the worst interviewer ever in terms of constantly interrupting and finishing the other person's thoughts. He also seems to have never been taught or learnt that the audience want to hear about his guests - and not about him!!
PS If you really want to see how a proper interview should be done - take a look at this example of James Lipton with Clint Eastwood on 'Inside the Actor's Studio'. czcams.com/video/xbo7u3JAmNg/video.html
@thesoultwins72 each to our own. I like that he's not afraid to push back against certain issues. Who's the pundid [sport] you like?
I like Tim’s principles as a man, we all know in certain circles you’re expected to dance to a tune, even if it’s to the detriment of success.
I think Simon strikes the balance right when it comes to being forthright where as Tim needs to communicate his ideas through the lens of how his ideas benefit the stakeholders.
Simons experience in business gives him that.
Not what you say, it’s how you say it, that’s where Tim has come unstuck.
This aged well.
What wonderful Harry Kane insight.
😅😅
Respect to Tim Sherwood. Great talk.
Thanks Simon another dignified quality podcast. I watched Blackburn in the 90s we got season tickets the season after they won it, 95/96, 96/97 and 97/98. Two schoolfriends and myself. Being under 16 we got concessionary prices. No more than £300. We were able to watch Shearer for a season and he was simply incredible. After that the team went into decline. Roy Hodgson was a disaster, so was Ray Harford. Brian Kidd bless his soul came in at the last minute severing ties with Sir Alex. After that I stopped caring. It was too painful to pay attention to Blackburn. Their star didn’t burn for very long but it was very bright in 1995.
We were actually from Bolton. And one night my Dad and I saw Sherwood in the Bradshaw Tandoori. It was pretty obviously him, he was even dressed in Blackburn tracksuit pants, and he had his famous medium length hair. He even replied in a cockney accent. There was only my dad and I and I think I even had a Blackburn shirt on. I quietly walked up to him and asked if he was Tim Sherwood with the hope of getting an autograph but he rejected me flat. He said (in his finest London accent nah mate and giggled. I just walked off crushed. Going off that unfortunate incident and despite his admirable frankness, the guy lacks a sense of humour. People remember how you are with them. I respect what he did as a footballer and for Blackburn but I’m not buying him a beer in a pub, no chance. One miserable overly deadpan boring dude.
Should have just asked, directly, for an autograph instead of querying his identity ?
Being straightforward and honest achieves positive results.
yeh bruv, don't meet your heroes as the saying goes. My Dad met Jimmy Greaves at his book signing once in our home town and he loved him. Dad said you are the reason I supported Spurs his reply was, 'that's your problem then'
@@samburrell3288 sure it wasn’t a tongue in cheek joke?
You can only go by ur experience& memory.. and maybe if (ur Dad)met him another time,it might have been different, but what u experienced on that occasion is the one that sticks in ur mind!..
And I think that is the common problem with many of these players!.They're so far removed from the fanbase&have very little respect for the Ticket holders because the revenue is coming from elsewhere! Not the fans
@@samburrell3288Wow,that was a strange response from the 'Great Man' but I think his whole career was very much like that..I recently saw a pretty indepth profile Bio of him on CZcams( a Camera was following him around at Spurs&it showed him training,at home and in the dressing room before& after a Match & he didn't look like he fitted in or cared less, because on the field he scored bunches of goals, but he wasn't one for 'tracking back' if the team needed to defend& he made no bones about it!
It truely was a fairy tale when Jack Walker got King Kenny in to be manager of 2nd division Blackburn. Remarkable. Thanks Tim. Thanks for the memories. Lump in my throat moment thinking about the glory days. Gutted we didnt build when the opportunity was there. To be fair we had some great years with Souness and Hughes.
Im still a season ticket holder and my 13 year old son has been to 40 away grounds watching the Rovers.
I’m far from being a football fan but this guys seems a very genuine , honest and decent bloke , id have a pint with him .
Tims brilliant. Should have been backed and employed more. An absolute ray of light in the PL. He development so many young players at Spurs. Look at the state of the club now.
Very good interview. Please more with former managers and sort of people from 'behind the curtains' area of people. Very good.
Brilliant interview, think Simon has given Tim the perfect platform and asking challenging questions which has brought Tim completely out of his skin.
Think Tim came across fantastically and if not going to be first team coach in the PL, he’s wasted in not working with the players of tomorrow and in development of these kids as I think he has that passion and personality to add so much value.
I’d love him at Saints as overall academy director.
Hi Mr Jordan, really top notch interview this, loved it man, I was a Blackburn fan as a kid , with Sherwood, Shearer and Sutton my main guys! Really insightful to hear Tim's view on the game football, Thanks!❤🇿🇦
as a kid😮, have you changed.
@@barnes19064 yes he’s a man now 😂
Great interview..... top man, two straight talkers
Great interview really enjoyed it
one off the best podcast ive heard .very interesting topics
Honestly such a good interview
Keep up the good work 👍
Just love the structure of these interviews, very enjoyable, & some brilliant guests. Unfortunately I'd forgotten about Tim Sherwood, but was reminded why I liked him as a manager.
Is that you Tim
Sherwood is the most straight talking honest bloke in football
Sir Phil Brainy = Top LAD Proper Clobber ✊💯 Facts
Is that you Tim
typing this "quicker than a quick thing from quickland", I have decided to try a "square this circle", "notwithstanding that", if it looks like a "duck then its a duck" and you "live and die by your decisions" I have come to the conclusion this is the best new channel on CZcams
Great interview love these
Great interview, really enjoyed it.
Cracking interview, I hope to see TS back in a dugout
I just love you Simon. Your comprehension of the English language and your up front and direct nature is brilliant
Brilliant interview Simon really enjoyed it.
Enjoyed that, very good conversation.
Excellent and sharp interview throughout the conversation. More of the same please.
SJ. The only interviewer that speaks more than the people being interviewed.
Listen to Froch when he interviewed Rob McCracken 🤭
Not a bad thing to be fair
Never heard of Piers Morgan I take it? 😂
13 prems not enough pal. small town club like Blackburn win it and you wanna take that too. yes fortune involved bit there always is.
It’s a conversation you bell end
17:28 Kane DIDN'T go missing in the Champions League Final.
He was injured!
That was Poch's fault for picking an injured player!
The best one yet. Tim was such a straight talker 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Enjoyed that. Thank you Simon
I’d love Tim back at Spurs in some sort of coaching role. He breathes passion and commitment
Brilliant episode 💙
Fascinating stuff, very enjoyable… subscribed
Tim wouldn’t have been high on my list to listen to a podcast on in 2023 but this was a good and interesting watch. Feel like he had some great potential as a coach… shame it didn’t work out
Honesty is refreshing. It's good to hear about the inner workings without the usual press censored bollocks that's parroted by the clubs and players usually
@@tomwhite5868 100%
This is like good ole Saint n Greavsie! Love the banter and so knowledgeable in a time of PC. You have a new follower. Gary Lineker - watch and learn.
I thought Parky was the best interviewer ever , he still is
but Simon runs him close , he is very insightful and intelligent and knows how to get the best
out of his guest and the occasion . It would be great to see Simon get his own chat show on main stream tv
What a great interview/podcast Simon.
Simon Jordan talks so much sense.....should be running the country
We don't need another tory
Simon = top LAD proper clobber
Cracking insight great podcast
46:54 Managers who are working with the players day in and day out should totally have a say in what type of players they want in their squad. It's no good that some "sporting director" making decisions separate from the manager and just giving players who can't fit into the system. Look at Man United who have wasted a boatload of money on players that weren't a good fit.
They need to work closely together to recruit the best players for the team at a good price.
Loved Tim at Pompey. Came across well here, hope he gets the chance to help develop youngsters again.
This was great. My respect for Sherwood has grown
Fantastic interview! Love Sherwood. Hope he can get a job as a development coach at Tottenham in the future. Need someone like him.
great stuff, giving Tim a good chance to speak his side of things.
i really enjoyed this interview ,honest from the get go in my opinion ,thankyou .
Just found this channel! Love it!
Brilliant interview
Never knew Tim was so genuine. Good on him
Such a good interview
Wow massive respect to Tim Sherwood. That is the first time that I've heard anyone in his position tell the truth. Could do with him as manager at Leeds right now.
this was the boy jordans best work
absolutely fascinating interview
Respect from Thailand
Brilliant. Tim is a winner. Simon, agould be prime minister.
Brilliant again 👌🏼
Best one yet
Another great episode. I've always liked Sherwood myself and I thought he did a good job considering at Spurs. I think he could be a good manager for a mid table club. Fantastic again though. Great interview.
Love ones like this. He’s so different to the man you’d judge him as from his after match interviews. Or when he talks about himself in the past.
I always felt he was shamelessly self promoting and saw himself as Mourinho.
It was good to see the calibre of the man once given the chance to explain himself.
Your a top fella Tim.
And many a club could and will do much worse than to hire you.
As Leeds and spurs will no doubt!
Great interview
Best interview yet
Very enjoyable interview and Sherwood comes across as a knowledgable football person.
Talks the talk alright but......
I come away from these incredible podcasts with the feeling that they could be even better with a little more time to really get into some of the conversational points. They move along far too quickly bouncing onto the next subject matter far too soon. 90mins would be a sweet-spot because not only would that give Simon time to really get the crow-bar under the subject but it will also give the viewing audience more time with each individual. Love the podcasts. Wish they were longer especially this one since there were a few times during this one where follow up questions were obviously required but time constraints meant swiftly moving to the next subject.
Tim Sherwood should be a youth development coach at spurs I like his straight talking and is very honest
I always liked Tim Sherwood he's football minded a good manager and coach, he should be in football either as a manager or coaching overseeing new talent. So he found Kane not poche. Great player & coach. I have alot of respect for him, even though I've never supported any of his teams he's played for or coached, but I admire him.
I’ve really enjoyed this interview Simon. I’m officially a subscriber now…
It’s all Levy. Players start with his permission. Appointments are his. He is the one holding Tottenham back.
Holding us back from what ? Winning the FA Cup ? I think you’ll find it’s the players with that , shocking vs Sheffield United. What about the 5 Semi finals bottled since 2001 ? Poch picked a half fit Kane vs Liverpool in the C/L final not Levy. I mean we’re the 7th richest club in England , where should we be ?
@@adammohamed..love it! Honest! Levy ,it seems challenges people! Typical High Street Tailor! He wants you to prove him wrong but not disrespect and humiliate him!
@@adammohamed.. Exactly, decades from now spurs fans may not appreciate the financial security Levy has created with the stadium and diversification of funding through NFL games and other corporate events etc.
Well done Simon, a very interesting interview. Tim really knows his stuff, a very switched on guy. I'm a Saints supporter and would have loved to see him in charge of us, in the Championship.
Great listen this one
Brilliant podcast, I love listening to Simon Jordan, no nonsense and honest, a breath of fresh air in todays soft society,.I also remember buying my first mobile phone from one of his shops!
Thank You
Super fantastic interview especially Mr Sherwood's honesty and explanation about the goings on at Spurs and Villa. Many people call Spurs, "Tottenham Hot Sperms"... always shooting blanks.
Really enjoyed this one and was pleasantly surprised. Seems like a good bloke
Great interview and top bloke that tim
Class acts both men 👌
Another great podcast Simon, always liked Tim sherwood great player in his era,
Imagine this for a set up,
Simon chief executive
Roy Keane manager
Tim sheerwood assistant manager 😮
Tim always talks sense and stands his ground. Would love to see him managing a club again.
tim sherwood is honest and we thank you for your hard work and honesty at the Villa mate good luck and UTV
Love Tim man🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great stuff.
Where would spurs be this season without Kane? Mid table.
Where did spurs finish with Harry Kane? Mid table.
Beautiful.
Really enjoyed this one could listen to Tim for Hours Now
Tim is very straight forward and hopefully he's giving a chance to manage again as he's not afraid to give young players a chance which is good for England
@Simon Jordan. You were right the transfer value relative to today, but when Blackburn were spending £3.5M on Shearer they also sold him for £15M further that same season United spent £7M on Cole.....
Great interview. likeable bloke and one of the better pundits around
Best one yet Mr Jordan sir. Keep em coming old boy.
Great chat to watch.
Wow haven’t heard that Jack Walker quote before : ‘why do we need him (Zizou), we have Tim Sherwood’
Amazing 😂
To answer Simon’s first question about Jack Walker’s money. The contemporaries at the time were Lionel Pickering at Derby £10m and Jack Hayward at Wolves £50m who were vying with Jack Walker £50m to improve their clubs. The TV money wasn’t a consideration for any of them. Blackburn bought very well and had some outstanding players but also got the most out of players like Mark Atkins, Tony Gale, Ian Pearce and Robbie Slater.
