    It is March, 1983. East Germany is on the verge of collapse, fighting a losing war against the BETA invaders. But NATO and the United Nations are assembling an international force to strike back at the monstrous foe. Sent to represent their country, the Schwarzesmarken "Black Marks", ready themselves to fight alongside humanity's best.
    In the world of Muv-Luv Alternative, humanity is at war with an alien race designated as the BETA. Due to the nature of their foe, mankind has developed Tactical Surface Fighters (TSFs) to better adapt to the battlefields of this new war. However, none of this has ever stopped humanity from engaging in their squabbles against one another.

      Thanks, friend. Yeah I love breaking down the phases and steps of a battle, and loved Muv Luv for how detailed they were in doing that. Most stories just say, "Everyone charged in, they fought, boom, bang"
      The anime might seem like that to people, but I want to show how much dedication and care went into fleshing out these military scenarios.

    As a Czech, I am wondering how is Czechoslovakia holding out at this point in universe time. Are we holding the line at the Tatra mountains, or have we retreated to Czechia itself. I do not think that we have fallen, but just how are we doing right now? We definitely still have some military capability, given the presence of one of our units during Neptune.

    • @yamamotomechbattles
      @yamamotomechbattles  Před 10 měsíci +6

      They should be holding a battle line in the mountains by this point in time. I think I read it in one of the LNs that Germany was such a big target because those mountains were natural defenses for the countries behind them, but they obviously didn't go up as far as the Oder-Neisse Line. Along the Black Sea is also a critical engagement zone because of this. The BETA basically just take the path of least resistance

    • @yamamotomechbattles
      @yamamotomechbattles  Před rokem +9

      Trust me, the whole thing confused me a lot at first. It really just seems like a large, army-scale Wing Double Five formation. But the "Active" part seems opposed to the standard strategy of establishing defense lines and retreating progressively further and further back. It essentially mixes offense and defense, but you can't use it to advance, only to lure enemies in and kill them...ultimately that would be defensive in nature. Of course, it's shown to not be a perfectly developed strategy even if it works a few times.

    • @yamamotomechbattles
      @yamamotomechbattles  Před 11 měsíci +4

      Well, Phoenixes are designed to beat Laser class in this universe -- they have terrain mapping and fly low like cruise missiles, then disperse and rise up. Plus, heavy metal clouds and support arty was drawing fire...so the Lasers targeted the high altitude shells before detecting the missiles. The mass volley helped as well. Tactics like these are how humanity counters the enemy's effective air defenses. It's a war after all, not a one-sided slaughter of humanity. Humans will always come up with innovative tech and tactics. But here, it's also demanding on resources, as Phoenixes and F-14s are more costly than F-4s and F-5s. Eventually, the price will be too much and the F-14s will be phased out early because of cost concerns.
