CZcams is VERY VOD oriented. They need a Livestream tab on Mobile like shorts and have a proper recommendation tab for the average viewer to watch a livestream they’d mist likely click to watch. They’ve done this so quickly with news, if you scroll for just a few seconds you’ll find all the news you could ever consume, add something like that for popular/upcoming streams.

I really think that if Twitch doesn't step it up, SOON, CZcams will become the hub for livestreaming. Twitch has no real possibility for exposure, sucks to use on desktop, has incredibly intrusive ads, is slashing the amount of money people are making, and watching any past VODS is like sticking nails in your eyes. CZcams has problems but Twitch can be downright painful to use, both from a creator and consumer standpoint.

Finding streams on YT is a serious issue. I've been watching livestreams on YT/Twitch for a while and that's always been an issue for me, it's so much easier on twitch. Other than discoverability, even for streamers that I'm subscribed to, it will be hard to know if they are live because the toolbar on the left side does not update dynamically, you have to refresh the tab in its entirety to see who is actually currently live if you've been in that tab for a while. Along with that, there aren't push notifs like there are on twitch when a streamer you follow goes live. These are very simple things to implement that would allow YT to begin to eclipse twitch in the live stream space

As a viewer, finding streams is next to impossible unless I watch that creator regularly (in which case it pops up in my recommended) and/or I am subscribed to them (finding streams through the sub box).
Sykkuno has a pretty strong CZcams game, with the amount of views he gets on average and the amount of subscribers he has, so I think he may do better in terms of an average viewership perspective. CZcams streaming seems to only be feasible for big creators who are streaming for the purpose of creating a CZcams video or if they’re just doing well on CZcams in general. But that’s how I see it at least.

    • @etekweb
      @etekweb Před 2 lety +19

From what I've seen with smaller creators I follow, it tends to work well for them to build their audience around prerecorded videos, and then do livestreams from time to time, rather than trying to go the other way around. CZcams's algorithm is simply more tailored towards recommending prerecorded videos. Something I think they could improve on, especially recommending more streams to people who regularly watch streams. But I imagine it's tough to do that without interfering with the rest of the platform (ie. those that don't want to watch livestreams).

    1. When people talk about you being late for streams, I don't believe they actually care very much (pretty sure you know that but just in case you don't)
    but more importantly
    2. If you just made a community post/twitter post/said this during stream/all of the above, and explained that your scheduled live stream times are just suggestions for *around* when you're planning to start stream, it'll clear up a lot of the confusion and you'll see a lot less people complaining in the future.
I saw this being done on a hololive steamer's channel and although I think those streamers have much more loyal and instantly accepting fans, the concept still stands, and it will be a positive thing that can make this situation less of a big deal.

Clicking on that will take you to a generic stream setup that you can save, so if you wanted to you could just go there and hit "Start Streaming" on OBS and you're good to go. Doesn't solve for notification delays, but it's effectively the same as Twitch at that point. When you joined here, I was able to watch and find old streams very easily and watch them. I have seen atleast 25 streams now, before the only 2 times before that. Some really awesome insights in this video, Ludwig made a lot of good points but one I think that stands out to be is his comment about the subathon being scammy, now I don't think it was however I can see how it would feel for him and it's awesome that he's able to now be sponsored by the platform. I think the downside he mentioned at the start is the real problem with all of this, CZcams gaming is horrible to find and is terrible at putting creators in our faces to select and it's just done better on twitch, if they put some grunts to work and come up with a solution then that would really change the game for CZcams gaming and make it a much more viable platform for a lot more people. I can't wait to see how things grow and change over the following years. Good work on another great video lud 😀

I definitely watch you more now that you are on youtube, and the same will probably be with sykkuno for me! I was only a youtube frog for you before your switch, but now a few times a month im active in your live streams and I daily see your stream titles and if they interest me I look for them later in your "past streams" playlist. I barely touch twitch as it is, but trying to find vods there was even more frustrating. Its so nice to have just a playlist on youtube where i can immediately find what I want after seeing a thumbnail for it earlier! (plus having thumbnails instead of just a screenshot of the stream is so much more helpful for finding what i want tbh). For me at least, your switch to youtube made me a much bigger and more active subscriber!!
I really dont watch many of sykkunos youtube videos, but I probably will pop into his streams once a month at least now that he's switching! I'm hoping he loves the switch just as much as it seems you have :))

My prediction for the future of livestreaming: Everyone already has a CZcams account, content creation and CZcams and Twitch always go hand to hand (The vast majority of Twitch streamers maintain active CZcams channels), and if Twitch keeps on screwing their creators CZcams will eventually become the best option to stream all around. CZcams Live is already dominating the market in Asia, and they have proven there that It works, and that its profitable. If we look at it objectively the things keeping most people on Twitch are Twitch culture and the viewer's sunk value: People love their Twitch emotes, and people don't want to lose their fancy 2-year sub badges, but I believe it's not going to be long before the pros overweight the cons of switching to CZcams Gaming.

Former twitch employee friend of mine said a while back that the ease of streaming is what would decide which platform will rule in the future, which I really do not agree with, otherwise discord would be the next big streaming platform, but it does matter still. • @itsederrengifo
      @itsederrengifo Před 2 lety +4

ad revenue depend on the CPM, or the cost for the advertiser for each 1000 views of content, since CZcams algorithm is so advance that guarantees your ad to be seen by the right people, their CPM is pretty high because the advertiser will have bigger changes to convert. For the creator, this means they will get more money from their views. In the other hand, Twitch CPM is really bad because develop better algorithms is very expensive, so what they do is increase the spam for users to be more exposed to "ad time"... This is the main reason Twitch is kinda doomed long term. Ads are the only way they can make the platform profitable, but they cannot compete with CZcams in that market, so they are relying on the patience of their creators and viewers to push as far as they can until Bezos decides to sell the platform

It's also a lot more common with smaller irl streamers. Often times they just join each other in games no warning

This has been mentioned many times by many streamers.
How can they bring people they know absolutely nothing about, much less trust, onto their screen? What are the benefits vs potential liabilities?
This is why both Ludwig and QT have suggested that you do fun collaborations with other streamers approximately your size and grow your audience together, just like so many big streamers that people watch regularly now got to know each other in game lobbies like Among Us back when they were much smaller streamers, and still share their audience.

would you recommend that someone interested in both streaming/making videos to stream on twitch / make youtube videos or to begin streaming on the same platform they upload on? e.g. what's your opinion on the platform as it is for someone who's trying to grow rather than migrating onto it with an existing fanbase?

You can stream on both CZcams and twitch at the same time.. if you don’t sign up for affiliate you should be fine. Twitch is better for finding new people but CZcams is better for vods.. bro he says this in the video

Starting on youtube I think would be very difficult since there's almost no discovery on youtube, twitch is much easier for people new to being a creator to build an audience since there's lots of people on twitch who enjoy watching small streamers and participating in smaller communities, not to mention being able to filter by game directory helps people grow a lot but the big reason we're seeing A LOT of big streamers on twitch swapping platforms now is because twitch announced they're (potentially) cutting partner revenue.
In a previous video from Ludwig I think on mogul mail he was discussing how twitch didn't want to give partners a 70/30 split on subs anymore and is talking about dropping it to 50/50 essentially cutting their sub income by 20%, that on top of twitch not really caring about their creators is pushing a lot of large streamers to leave the platform.
I think the vast majority of creators with a big enough following are going to leave twitch when their contract expires simply because the platform pays less and cares less.

I can understand that it's a little more of a pain to schedule the stream ahead of time but I honestly love that on CZcams. It sends me a notification that you're going live in 30 minutes and I can instantly plan/decide if I'm going to watch vs remembering everyones schedule. I also very much appreciate being able to pause and watch as I'm able and not miss content due to ads.

I love watching YT streams over twitch. I’m really busy at work so I tend to miss a lot of streams. YT is so VOD friendly. For example, I like to watch VODs sped up and YT sounds way more smooth than twitch VODs. It’s also easy to skip around too

Aside from the obvious problems with youtube streaming being a worse chat system and having basically no chat culture and terrible live discovery, youtube is very competitive. I love that I can go to a live stream on YT and go to the beginning of the vod while its live, and watch at 2x speed and eventually seamlessly catch up to the live broadcast.
Now for react andy's, imagine if youtube could have a system in place where a live streamer could allow for a live viewing of other videos on YT similar to a watch party on twitch. Maybe the streamer's feed becomes a picture in picture with the live viewing video, and the streamer can control the video for the viewers. That way there could be an actual legitimate outlet for react andys to benefit from while also benefiting the original creators with actual views (im sure dviper would love this lmao).

Ive learned alot from you Mr.wiggy senpai. On that frfr ive been working diligently to get myself in a place where i can easily stream as much as id like to, and i always pictured that happening on twitch. Over time, ive realized that i might prefer streaming to youtube, so its nice seeing you upload stuff like this.
I might just stick with twitch, cause ive never been worried about the money yknow? but i think i might do youtube mainly, and just twitch on the side. iddkkkkk, this is a stream of consciousness message and i only felt comfy putting it here. nice news drmrwiggysirsenpai

Honestly glad that everything has worked out so far. I've always found it wierd that twitch forced their partnered streamers to basically live off of viewers. Overall Twitch seems like a toxic enviroment for making money. On CZcams the streamers who have deals don't necessarely have to worry about shilling for Members or SuperChats. Where as on Twitch they basically rely on subs to make money from twitch. It will be interesting to see how much the changes twitch is implementing effect this.

The “streaming war” is CZcams’s to lose imo. Long term, CZcams offers more for creators than twitch does. CZcams is already a way bigger platform to begin with.

i think with twitch heading in the direction it is, youtube grabbing big streamers marks a big shift towards youtube being the dominant stream platform, as long as susan and the youtube team continue to improve youtube streaming and listening to streamers on ways they could improve

unless I am REALLY wanting to watch a youtube stream, or a certain youtube streamer, i usually forget they stream still, meanwhile on twitch I just see them live on the left and click in and sometimes get hooked and stay for a long time, sometimes just switch to a new one. I will browse from one stream to another if they show up in the recommended for youtube but the only ones that seem to are the ones i watch most, not all the channels I follow that go live regularly, for example I think lud was my most watched streamer back when he was on twitch, now the only streams I have found myself watching are few and far between (and not just bc he streams less often either) so i see his streams pop up in my recommended less. I do still see his in my subscription box with the other channels that go live, and I love that they go to the top so I don't have to sift through other uploads to find them, that's probably the only equivalent to the bar on the left side of twitch in my mind, but that is something I had to find that works for me, and some people might not use that same method

Actually, if you have near default settings, any streamer you've subscribed to(free) will have a live indicator on your left margin list at the top. So knowing if any of your favorite streamers are on is just a matter of logging in or refreshing the youtube page at a minimum.
Finding new ones with similar interests is a pain though.

I had never seen a Ludwig stream before the CZcams switch, I'm already on youtube for the videos and when a stream pops up right there in my subbox I think why not watch a little, compared to going over to twitch to check if people are live, it's more convenient imo, and it's been a great time catching the livestreams
