- In Providence Island, ori Isla de Providencia, a tiny Colombian island in the Caribbean, food from both land and sea are plentiful - but rondón is the local delicacy. Rondón is a traditional soup made from fish, pork, shellfish, plantain, sweet potato, coconut milk, spices, and much more, made over an outdoor fire and eaten communially. We seek a classic preparation from one of Provicencia’s expert rondón cooks and learn about the rich culture of music and community that centers this beloved island meal.

This place is frozen in time. My family grandfathered a vacation home in this island. You cant just buy property here, its literally protected from developers.
I haven't been there in decades but it looks the same. It's as authentic and real as it gets. Few Caribbean islands offer the true Caribbean experience as this place does. No tiki bars, no resorts, no clubs, no Senor Frogs, no mall and shops offer only the bear necessities.
Not the place for the Cancun tourist.

I love how clear they speak Spanish I can actually understand them, as someone who isn't fluent and studied intermediate lvl of the language 😂 there are some countries where they speak super fast. Also I wonder how Rondon taste like? There's breadfruit in it tho and that's not my fave fruit because of the bitter-y aftertaste.

@Miss Dor's daughter in my country the locals love to fry the breadfruit. And the result is like literal fried bread wt a strange aftertaste which traumatise me so much I refuse to eat breadfruit again. 😂 maybe this one taste different due to the different kind of preparation.
The island was destroyed by hurricane Iota 3 wks ago. There are online donation pages to give support to the island inhabitants.

I wish your titles would indicate when the main spoken language isn't English; as someone who more often than not is listening through a playlist rather than actually looking at the video, ones like these are useless to me as I don't have the option to actually read the subtitles when it comes on, and if I knew that beforehand I would put it into a different playlist for when I can.
