Appreciate the video especially showing that all car washes don’t need to take hours to complete. Definitely going to invest in the BH Touchless when my AF citrus wash is all gone.
I've just washed my car after about 3 months with the bilthamber touchless! Gotta say I was blown away! Awesome product! Best thing it disappeared after about an hour, other snowfoams hang around for days!
Hi Jon another great video. I have just taken delivery of bilt hamber touchless, autowheel and surfex HD. I will be using them all on 3 vehicles this weekend a DAF HGV, an Audi A4 2004 that’s been sat for a year and has some lovely green mold all over it and my wife’s fiat 500 that is very clean. The DAF is filthy as hell so I can test this.
I've learned a lot watching this channel. Touch less is an incredible product!

Doesn't look like there's much protection on the car at all XD. Sahara dust will readily come off with just water. Heck the whole reason it's deposited so heavily in the first place is because it's in the rain. Since my car is so hydrophobic, I get tons of tiny Sahara dust dots on the surface instead haha. If it's raining again and I go for a drive and on the way back the rain stops and the sun comes out, most of the dust is cleansed off by the rain and the wind blowing the rain off with the dissolved dust inside it. That dust is great for the soil btw, full of micronutrients for plants!
Keep them coming Jon 👍. Because of the dust, Sahara sand & lack of rain I'm washing our cars 1-2 times a week at the moment! My BH Auto Foam is about run out after which I will switch to Touchless. Interested to see if it as good as everyone has been saying. I find that once the car is properly cleaned & waxed a BH foam wash & rinse is all that's needed to keep on top of it until another more detailed wash / wax is needed (every 8-10 washes). My estate car is metallic black & a real pain to keep looking at it's best. I've also been trying out Demon Shine sprayed on neat as drying aid. Seems to do a reasonable job & extends the time between waxes by adding another layer of protection. I also need to tackle some scratches on the roof left by the previous owner so any cosmetic scratch repair tips you could offer would be great.
Hi ya , after reading your message, I totally agree, the sandy crap on your car can do sooooo much damage. I use Gyeon WetCoat once a month & I find my paintwork stays very slick. Nothing sticks to it, & it’s SO protected against everything. Gyeon products are absolutely amazing, & I’ve tried a few other over the years.
As for your scratches, you might want to go see a bodyshop. Depending on how deep they are, you might be able to ‘flat & polish’ then out. If not, at best they will improve them without going through the paint. Always ask the B/shop first though. Good luck.

I've been using the BH Snow Foam and it does leave a little film, but when you do the hand wash, there is barely any dirt coming off into the wash mitt. The rinse bucket stays clean. I am even thinking I can wash the car a few times with the same mitt prior to throwing it into the laundry.
Used touchless a few times now for the Sahara dust. Jet washed off then gyeon quick detailer as drying aid, no contact wash. I've not noticed any marring. Touchless performing better for me than auto foam and doesn't seem to dry out so fast.

We had our third "desert storm" attack last week and as I'm relatively new to snow foaming I thought this would be a great test. I use the Autoglym range of products and I found the Polar Blast ideal for removing the sand prior to contact wash. I suppose it is possible to remove the sand just by jetting but I figured that the more gentle application of Pre wash via the snow foam lance would be safer to apply before hitting it with the jet washer. Results were pretty effective and I was more than satisfied to go ahead with a contact wash after fully rinsing down the Polar Blast.
I think Polar Blast is an underrated product. Unfortunately it gets a pass by most detailers just because it's AG. It's a good snowfoam, PH neutral, and removes a lot of surface contaminants prior to contact washing. It's not as powerful as BH, but it's also more gentle on your LSP than BH. Shame it doesn't come in 5 litre bottles.
Ha, I did exactly this today. I bloody hate this dust. I invested in some touchless a while ago specially to get rid of it so I don't grind the stuff in to my paint.

Was using Polar Blast, switched over to BH Touchless once my last bottle ran out, based on your videos and it’s been great!
Had some success just doing two washes with Touchless, leaf blower to remove most the water. then a detail spray with a micro fibre to finish off. Hopefully that doesn’t cross too many detailing boundaries 😂
Pretty good technique if the car isn't too dirty and the paint is well protected. I tend to use a snowfoam, rinse, and then a waterless wash & wax spray while the car is still wet. A cheaper way is to use a Rinseless wash like ONR or P&S Absolute, mixed up in a spray bottle after snowfoaming and wipe away with a rag. You can even do it the way you already are and make your own detailer with the rinseless - much cheaper!
Hey Jon great video! I wanted to ask if I wash my vehicle once a week. Maybe even once every two weeks is it safe to use touchless on every wash?
Jon leads the way in prewashing a car 👍. Minimising the swirls and marring by this method might even result in a more basic hand polish and target specific areas rather then keep cutting back lacquer across the whole car? 🤷
I’ve scaled back the Touch-Less PIR to 2% now we’ve seen the worst of the winter filth. Autowash contact wash, followed by Touch-On through a CCC foam lance. Thorough rinse and towel dry. The beading on from the Touch-On is way beyond expectations, silky smooth paint, and it helps on the next wash.
Touch-Less on the sandy dirt is phenomenal, but I think Autofoam has the edge on oily road film.
I generally keep on top of things and gave the car a foam (mainly for a bit of dust), followed by a thorough rinse and 'gorilla towel' dried. Car looked good, even stuck on some soft99. After thinking foam was a non-necessary luxury, since the 'rinse' vs 'foam' first video I am a total convert now

The sand on the car wasn’t dried on road film but loose sand simply laying on the car. The pre wash doesn’t really have any work to do. The removal of the sand surely was done with the pressure of the water alone…..(just letting the lance run through on the floor until empty seemed really wasteful and pointless - keep it for next time surely?)
Not sure but lots were reporting snow foam not effective at removing this.. but TL works by disipsting static charge if dirt... It just seem to do a really good job fir me.
Hi Jon, I had problems with my jet washer and used BH autofoam through my IK Foamer before a strong hose pressure rinse worked really well to get the pesky sand off.
me too, though mainly for the wheels and under the side skirts. Just out of interest, what ratio do you use?
@@pigeonpoo1823 hi mate it was approx 120ml autofoam and 400ml water. Really impressed the sand seemed to almost melt away.
Ive just moved to BH snow foam and it's brilliant. Lot better than Autoglym which I was using. Worked out my PIR and it's 137.5 ml topped up to 250 ml per wash. That's 3% for summer wash for my car.
I would rinse first , maybe including soap at the same time . To mimize or prevent sctaches , etc and if possible to use hot water .
My M5 was covered in enough to build my own castle so yesterday Bill Hamber snow foam did the job prior to its normal wash.
Can I use this on a car that has a layer of polish and wax that has hydrophobic properties without compromising the wax?
Is there any protection on the car mate? Does not look to be a huge amount of bearing on the bonnet as you washed off?
So I am following a few of the car detailing channels and some say you shouldn't apply snow foam in direct sunlight. Is this something you agree? I assume that you did this short cleaning during the earliest of day right? Just to avoid the sun from heating up the car's surface, and secondly burning in on the applied product. That being asked, thanks for the great video!
John, when you connect the water hose to the jetwash pull the trigger to bleed all the air out of the machine and lance before you switch it on as the motor is watercooled and full of air and and the surging is the motor running off load and without cooling water and getting very hot.
It certainly seems to be effective at removing the majority of the sand😊.
I used Glimmerman citrus pre wash then infinity wax wipeout snow foam on the Sahara dust john
All I’ve found needed to remove this dust (and the spring pollen) is a good pressure wash rinse having already had a good wax on the car. Snow foam seems much more useful on the winter grime. Can’t harm to prewash with foam of course.
I just feel using a pressure wash first will agitate the sand effectively in this video. And causes more issues to paintwork. I dunno. I prefer pre washing
@@4u2nvme4ever If that was the case, heavy rain would cause swirling. I know Yvan Lacroix has mentioned this numerous times but I don't think theirs in-depth testing and science behind it. But also you need to be using your pressure washer at under 1500 psi so that it's more then safe, through the use of the correct sized nozzle.

Last year just before I was about to trade in my car I got this sand as well. I tried a quick snowfoam and rinse but it would not come off that way. I did not have more time. That did annoy me but the car was still sold within a day.

I need an advance here please, I live in Dubai and the weather is dusty and sandy all the time, black cars became gray from the dust over just one night. I used to jet pre-wash with water only before driving to the work every morning and let it dry by air. I know that leaving water drops is dangerous for the paint. Any solutions please.
Hi Jon, I like BH products too, but for pre-wash, try the Dunking Biscuit Velvet (it is pH 8). You will love it. It is a UK brand also. And you need 500 ml of water and 10-15 ml of the shampoo, in the MJJC Foam Cannon Pro.

I only hand wash if I'm adding more protection. I use all three BH Foams and I love them all equally. Force air dry it, buff the windows and done..

I use BH Autofoam, probably to a lower concentration than you did and I find it stains the window trim chrome plastics on my Audi and VW. it also doesn’t come up as clean as yours, but that might be because it doesn’t have a good wax!

You should have seen this sand ‘storm’ here in Spain… the sky went orangey / red and quite dark for days, looked like I imagine mars would look like if living their!! our white houses here turned terracotta (jet washing did little so need paining), pool looked like a mug bath and my nice white Range Rover looked the same colour as your BMW’s leather interior… the dust was as fine as talc, it has taken probably ten full washes to get it out of all the door shuts, seals and engine bay… things that nightmares are made from for a detailed.
The sand / dust leaves a ‘oily’ film that is very hard to get off with normal car shampoo and if left stains light colored paints especially white that need a full cut to remove… some cars needed to be repainted!

I’m a big fan of your process. I add one element prior to your foam. I like to use ONR prior. I soak the entire paint with it and it seems to enhance the cleaning effects of the foam.

ONR aint gonna do anything compared to this stuff as a pre soak.

Really interesting video! Enjoyed that. Can you recommend a soft but hard enough exterior little brush for nooks and rubber seal areas. Have a Merc c220 2007 and where the glass meets the bodywork there are gaps and need to get in there with something to clean out the muck. I’m new to this and will be joining the Patreon group. What would have been a great test is half the car in BH touchless and the other half sprayed from pressure sprayer with ONR, then pressure washed off and allowed to air dry. This would have shown the effect of both products on the sand. Both products claim to break the bond of dirt. ONR is claimed to encapsulate and breakdown particles, so in theory would take off the sand when pressure washed. Love both products and regularly use both, finding BH Touch-on gives better results each time it's used and especially when I use Optimum gloss enhancer as a drying aid. Keep up the great work.
Onr does not work that well as a prewash for UK.winter road film.
@@ForensicDetailing Onr as you say isn't great for winter road film due to the amount of oily film that we accumulate. However I was pointing out that the sand deposit's that we get in the summer and can cause the dreaded micro scratches if not dealt with properly would be a perfect test between snow foaming or pre soaking in Onr.
I generally prefer to hose the car down first then snow foam, going over it with a light sponge. Hose off, leather dry job done

Oh boy you should try our jagged bedayer red sand then, it sticks to clear coat, only way to remove it is by claying 😂
Tell you what Jon, with a coating on the car and a demineralised water, that Touchless would be great as a full on non-comtact wash you know.
Foam, rinse and blow dry and you're done!

Thank you on your experience with dilution ratios. The website says a maximum of 5% but at that level it may as well just be used neat. I was concerned with the cost per wash as I have only used it once so far, and at 5% each wash would get quite costly and not really be worthwhile.
Forgive me if I am getting the wrong end of the stick, but doesn't maximum 5% mean 5% product to 95% water ratio?
@@justjosh11 google Panel Impact Ratio, which is measured in %. Essentially every pressure washer and output is different, so it’s a way of you measuring out the correct amount of soap to water, for your setup. Bilt hamber does require a high amount of soap to water, compared to other brands, which like to say 1:10 ratio.

Hey Jon how do you deal with hard water? In my area it’s horrible so if I just rinse my car it’s just full of hard water spots that dry up

What ratio is your qd? I use it 1:5. Having used it at 1:1 and 2 I found it hard work. Really glossy but hard work

if you want to play it safe do 50/50 ( half part water half part product ) edit: if you have left over solution in the foamer after the wash you can store it in a plastic bottle and use it next wash

I think he meant the total amount of solution in the lance. I have a large estate car (wagon if you're in the US) and that uses up about 300-400ml total from the lance bottle, but I do apply sparingly. Perhaps 500-600ml for an SUV or very large car?
You can always fill the bottle up, do the wash , then subtract what is left to work out how much you used.

Desert sand is the worst, it's so fine you will be finding it for years and years as you pull things off to detail or change parts etc. It gets into everywhere.

Sahara sands travel all the way to the Caribbean and Florida , and it's all year round, buddy... it's filled with nasty stuff even arsenic, they found. And clearly there are metal specks in it so it definitely causing rust too !
I'd like to see what it would look like if you skipped the contact wash, and instead simply did a thorough pressure rinse using demineralised water, and then let it dry - i.e a completely touchless wash.
If that is not adequate, follow up with a second contactless wash. Why is the second wash always a contact wash, when the contactless wash is 99+% effective?

Jon, you need an Aquaplus Stop end on your hose to stop you getting wet feet when connecting to your pressure washer😆

The reduce the amount of flow to the washer. So not a good idea to use them.
As people above have said, they cause a restriction to the flow into the pressure washer. And if the plastic plunger inside broke off I hate to think the damage it might do being sucked in.
@@delphinebez3045 If the water is flowing out of them and not in then generally its ok. For example, if its attched directly to the tap then the water would be flowing through, opening the little stopper thing. If it was attached to the pressure washer, the water would be flowing against it and is pretty much pushing the plunger closed.

Why not use touchless/Auto-Foam with some quantity of another neutral snow foam producing thick foam? Just to make it a bit thicker
because you dont know whats in them and the consequences of mixing them mate.
@@ForensicDetailing I think it's a bit conservative. We add some apc to make it stronger (gsf +gs, neutral snow foam +surfex, etc), why not neutral snow foam, they are quite mild, most of the cases they hardly do anything.
The dust on the car drives me friggin mad.
All nice and shiny polished etc, for the nice weather.....and then comes the dust to ruin it 😢

You can get Koch Chemie super foam in a 5 gallon size for around $85 in the US from the rag company. Good high pH snowfoam that should be a great stand-in for touchless or auto-foam.
All US products are expensive in the UK also.
Does thicker foam mean more cleaning power? Or does runny foam work just as well?
both work equally well, thick foam just looks better on camera
It's properties is not designed for thickness it's supposed to be runny but not super thick like some think
Depends on the type of foam your using. Autofoam works with the thinnest covering.
Thicker foams tend to be dryer and heavier they may look good but on dust like this heavy foams just drop off and don’t break down the grime

I tried Touchless for the first time couple of days ago. Idea was to do a quick foam and rinse and be on my way. The touchless left nasty drip marks on my sides, ended up having to wash the car with a mitt and still some drip marks, took BH Cleanser Fluid to get rid of then…never such issues with Autofoam…

Might try rinsing it sooner. I use Touchless and Autofoam for different reasons and found sunlight causing a rush to rinse off sooner than later in certain occasions.

Hello Jon, thank you for this great video and by the way your YT channel is fantastic. Can I just make a constructive point, and please don't be offended by this; it's just a king suggestion. I made the same comment to other YT detailers like Harper's car detailing.
Here's the point : you have become a reference in the detailing word. Every video you post makes tens of thousands of views. You have quarter of a million followers. You've got a dream car which is the M4 CS. You have a large garage with state-of-the-art detailing equipment.
Despite all of that, it seems you don't spend one penny for everything related to "video" material : at least a good microphone, a go-pro cam, a tripod camera,... For example, in this video, we can see you holding the camera (shaking) with one hand while holding the hose with the other.
Would this not be the minimum for a YT channel of such scope ?

I've got sliders fluid head tripods, 3 go pros, dslr, lighting, etc... But you tube is not about good production so much. At least not for me. I want to be able to film edit upload very rapidly 99% of the time at least.

Urgh I absolutely hate this stuff, mine is baked in it at the moment , never really noticed it when my car was silver but it’s black now - I am just going to wait until it’s ridiculously bad then blast it
