I brought some surfex HD after watching one of your previous videos. I could. Not believe just how powerful it is so thank you. Love your videos.
This channel is converting me to bilt hamber that's two wins on the trot! Great video as always
Great video Jon 👍, I appreciate the detail you go into when discussing and comparing products. It's nice to have proof and data rather than solely opinion.
Love your videos man. keep up the great work.
Surfex HD is an outstanding product!👏🏻
Great video, buddy! Love the effort you give to your videos!😎👍🏻
For those wanting converted to dilution ratios:
5% = 19 : 1
10% = 9 : 1
20% = 4 : 1
25% = 3 : 1
50% = 1 : 1
A
Ayan
5% is 1:20 , 25% is 1:4 ,33% is 1:3 and 100% is 1:1
@@Gieszkanne Sounds like math might not be your favorite subject. It is understandable to miss the 1:20, 1:4 etc. But the fact you didn't notice anything wrong when you type 1:1 for 100% is kinda of funny, lol.
You should try BH Autofoam vs Surfex , i've seen it can be even sprayed instead of foamed :) that would be the king of tests
You're like the Dominic Torretto of the detailing world! I see what you're using and I want to buy it all!
Bilt Hamber products are awesome with excellent pricing!
Fantastic info very informative 👍
Another great vlog 👍👍
Thank you for a great video, used your discount code thank you again.
Coolest attitude so far, Jon for the win!
I finally got ahold of some Surfex HD here in the States on a black friday sale. Can't wait to try it out!!!
I use it to the rims and the tires in 1:30 and does excellent job. I am wondering if i could use it as prewash for my car paint in the hood, roof, doors.
Is a high alkalinity good? Never bought a APC but good to know which has the best cleaning power
Interesting test Jon between the two big names never underestimate a good APC thanks Jon for sharing my Decon shampoo video top man 👌🏻😉
cheers mate
Your attitude on this one made me laugh, keep up the great work!
Just got into 'propper' detailing and got me some hd , hav it mixed at 5% and am blown away by it ! Use it all over the house now too , such value and better than a dedicated solvent degreaser i had 👌
me 2 trev, and every job you used to do with other products you will find this stuff cleans better or at least I find that. it ever cleans my pads better and microfiber towels if I pre soak in some surfex when heavily soil they wash out better in the machine... that and the price point. I think when some companies are charging 10 pounds for ready mixed APC, the value exchange just is not there when you know 95% of that ready mixed product is just water.
@@ForensicDetailing top tip with the pre soak of the towels 👌 working towards stripping out the arch liners and hitting under them with the hd ready for some lanoguard anti corrosion treatment ( I have a ford !😂) looking forward to it now , and having a crack at the enging bay !
Lovely Jubbly, cleaning and fun, whatever next. Have to agree, both great apc's.
Great video as always and would like some advice on dilution percentages for BH Surfex HD please. what percentage product to water should use for 1. wheel arches; 2. alloys; and 3. traffic film on lower side panels and rear bumper?
1: 10% 2: 10% 3: start at 5% I personally stay here, but some do go upto 10%. cheers mate.
I bought a bottle of the green star over a year ago, and it's still going, even though the car sales next door sometimes borrows it to do his interiors. I've seen the Surfex being reviewed before, and it came top in that test too. I will be popping over to Slims to get a bottle. Also, the foam sprayer that's growing on you, I must pick one of those up too.
Thanks for all your reviews Jon.

Several of us have been hammering the only Bilt-Hamber distributor in the
U. S. to carry the Auto-Foam, too. They have the Korrosol, Auto-wash, and Surfex already. They are considering the Auto-foam as soon as they can find out some pricing for us.
Thanks for bringing their products to light for us.
hey josey I hope they are competativly priced. Im not sure how well this brand will fit the US market. And thats not a stealth dig. but the US market doesnt tend to "do" pre wash and rinse, prewash products so much.. All this stuff is also not really foamy and theres no scent to it, it doesnt have strong branding. biggest critism I hear of it in the UK on like forums is people think because it doesnt foam it isnt as good, and I think that will happen in the US a bit as well. its the simply performance of the wash and decon products thoguh that stand out for me.
@@ForensicDetailing What I'm seeing in the testing is what I want /like. Excessive foam is for show, to me. I like the performance. We're hoping the price will be competitive, but if not too much more, I'll still get it.
Thanks, again!
@@ForensicDetailing from what im seeing the price on the u.s. site is quite a bit more than the uk price. Im guessing from them paying for shipping then trying to make a profit. Takes away the value of the products. John we need a u.s. available prewash showdown with a comparison to auto foam as a standard. Please
I just bought 5 liters of this stuff because of you. Now I’m all excited for it to get here!!!! You need to start a podcast brother cause you’d be fantastic at it!
thank you jason
Great video and channel Jon. I have just bought 5ltr of the Surfex HD for multiple applications. What kind of dilution would be best to use for exterior and general interior cleaning in your opinion please??
Exterior look for 4/5% PIR or 1:19/1:24 in a pump-up sprayer. Basically 4/5% in a pump-up sprayer. Very effective at getting rid of bugs off your car after a battering on the motorway. Dead cheap to use and very effective. 5% as a prewash on the alloys does nicely at loosening the dirt that isn't embedded on the alloy and gets rid of a chunk on the rinse down. 5% - 10% will clean the tyres really well and with some agitation will remove 95% off the dirt off the alloy. The only time it won't is if its iron particles embedded or tar. For that, use autowheels or Korrosol. You can use AW or Korrosol every few months so you don't waste product and money needlessly. Use it after you took off what you can with SHD.
I still use Meguiar's APC. Is this still a good one to use in your opinion?
Is Surfex HD safe to use on fabric seats?
Hi Jon, just catching up on some older vids. Can you use surfex hd as an alternative to citrus wash at 10:1 for a pre wash ? Ace video as usual 👌
yes although I tend to say 5% pir is about right with surfex as a pre wash... a good citrus contains d-limonene surfex does not have this in it. D-limonene is a strong organic water miscible solvent. cheap citus skimp on it because its expensive.. and its place they use citral.
Jon whats your take on Labocosmeticas products from 🇮🇹 - ever tried them? 😀
Another great informative video. Thank you. I have just purchased some Bilt Hamber surfex hd along with Korrosol and soft clay bar. I have read thay surfex hd can be used as a pre wash in the snow foam lance? Can I use it as a dedicated pre wash or would i have to add it to a snow foam such as Auto Glanz Spritzer. I am new to detaling and Do not currently own a snow foam lance so would have to purchase one. What lance would you reccomend? Thanks again.
any from reputation detailing supplier cheap chinese are 15 quid. the new autoglym one is 30 quid and really good.
How do these compare to other apcs such as g101? Etc?
How does the Surfex HD compare to the Meguiars APC?
Hello
Would you like to consider doing test or finding out some product for cleaning aphid honeydew from paintwork?
in this day, i dont know any other methods than clay mitt or clay bar which can clean that really hard contamination from paintwork.
Would you recommend BH surfex to use on my bbq grill? Or can you recommend something else for the grill?
It’s a pain in the backside cleaning it!!
The beginning killed me 😂
Hello sir i have a peugeot 206 1999 model white single stage paint and the color is fade and oxidize,i have buy auto glyms paint renovator 3m rubbing compound and rupes quarz gloss and zephyr compounds aldo i have rupes pads green blue yellow and 3m pads medium hard and microfiber pad, also have rotary polisher, and orbital, what do you recommend for start and which compinations to make or if you propose me another compound, thanks you very much!
Hi John! Have you tryed ADBL APC? in Czech Republic it costs +- 18gbd for 5 liters. I would love to see video on that Thanks!
Btw that intro was great! :D
Been using Surfex HD at 4% for prewash, 9% for wheels and door shuts, 20% for engine bay. It just works!
That stuff lifts everything off the surfaces doesn't it? I knew it would win. Works well for me too, and also, I'm not getting flash-rust on discs when using on wheels, that must be the corrosion-inhibitors acting in use before agitating and rinsing.
Does it remove wax/sealant when used as a prewash mate? Thanks
@@JWL-UK Not that I've noticed. I use Collinite 476s which seems resistant to most things anyway but I'm pretty sure 4% is the recommended mix on Bilt Hamber website. I use a 5 litre hand pump sprayer from Screwfix, 200ml Surfex and top up to 5 litres with water. If I have to wash in sunny conditions I mist some water over as it dwells to stop it drying out. Unbeatable for the price, around £17 for 125 litres of prewash at that strength!
I was thinking of buying this for a pre wash instead of tfr. Is this suitable to use for every maintenance wash? Cheers.
@@jim6751 I tend to mix this up at 25-30ml with 500ml water in karcher foam bottle (the one that came with my karcher, no use for anything else since buying a proper snow foam lance!) and spray all over the lower half of the car, including a good amount in the arches... After 5 mins, cover the car in BH auto foam over the top of the surfex HD... Wash my wheels (with HDD Brake Through) then hose it all off and car is 95% clean! Quick once over with BH auto wash and job done... That's only my weekly winter wash though, when the cooler, damper air allows gor longer dwell times... In the summer its the same, only the wheels are washed BEFORE applying pre wash to the bodywork 👍🏼
Can u use green star everywash without damaging paint
My two favourites APC’s too. I’ve recently got hold of a couple of bottles of Shiny Sauce which is excellent stuff. I use it on my motorbike but it’s not as good value being premixed. Good stuff though and had to try it on the name alone!
Good video mate. Im just seein it now, 3 years later.
I would like to see Sonax Multistar too... That thing does magic
John! Love you! Can you please consider make a video with those products tested in plastic, rubber and upholstry, because for me the issue with some APC's is the reaction with some plastics or some residue that they left Over.
Use Surfex at 1/2% and no residue will be left over.
I'll have some of whatever you've been drinking Jon! 😂
Any idea what products like Totalee Awesome APC does to cars paint and trim?
It’s more in the household range of products but would be interested to see if applicable to the detailing world.
Thanks again for a really useful vid
its a bit pointless mate.. because surfex has a cost of around 30p a litre to you. So why switch and pay more for totalee awesome APC and use a product thats not been developed to clean cars??? whats the point
Greenstar is pretty good stuff, it even combines with other Koch products like the Gentle Snow Foam to make it a damn good pre wash sollution. I didn't know Surfex HD was that powerfull and probably mixes with Bilt Hamber's snow foam as well!!
It does. You can use some Surfex with Auto-foam and it will give it a good kick for an especially dirty car or winter wash.
I'm a big fan of Optimum Power Clean. It works very well for me.
Thanks for the video, but do these products strip wax off a car? I’m thinking of using one before snow foaming with polar blast especially during winter months.
no mate no detergent not even a strip wash can strip modern day fresh protection.
Where can you get GS for £5?
That intro and ending thou :') Nearly choked on my dinner
Any thoughts on using the Surfex HD as part of a foam pad cleaning process?
It works a treat. I use Surfex to clean the applicator pad that comes with Fusso coat. Only thing that will strip off the fusso coat on the pad.
how does the green star cope with interior cleaning with carpets as i just brough 5 litre of stuff i wish i brough hd now 🤦🏻♂️
Love the versatility of surfex hd
I love surfex hd. I also used it to clean upvc windows at a 50:50 mix. Used a brush with it after a few mins. Got all the stains off. Far better than solvent and cream upvc cleaners by far.
I've seen glasses get stained by surfex hd. Using this dilution 1:1 is so strong you can remove engine bay oil. Even a 5% dilution is more than enough
Agreed with Luca. That's way too strong for a window cleaner. 5-10% is all you will ever need especially if you are using a brush. 50% is wasting product needlessly. 20% will rip through the greasiest of ovens.
Hi jon! Is surfex okay to use to clean a soft top with? Thanks 🤩
yes mate, nice low concentration maybe something like 1:30 to start with. .. needs to be rinsed and extracted ideally like any detergent.
Can anyone tell me how AG Multi-wash TFR goes against these two? Thanks
Love you sir
That intro 😂😂😂😂 how much have this gear have you been drinking?
dying here :) you got me. was like way hypo
Another great video, but damn you making me want all kinds of BH and I can't find it this side of the pond!!
We will be selling this within the month. Keep an eye out for it
Dude, how much coffee did you have before making this video lol. Also you must have bugged my phone as I was chatting to a mate about engine bay de greasers today. Guess I'll be spending more money this weekend.
An interesting thing would be to use both apcs diluted 1:10 and spray them on sensitive bare alloywheels, anodized wheels, chrome and other sensitive finishes. Would surfex hd leave those as new or leave marks? I have used surfex hd for 3years but now for my sensetive wheels maybe i should buy greenstar instead that claims to be safe on anodized finishes
Both do a great job on alloys but I find you need to use more of Greenstar as it isn't as strong as BH Surfex HD. Though Greenstar will foam up more.
Does S HD not hinder the LSP?
I know GS doesn’t.
Very funny and informative video.
Today i'm gonna fill a couple of IK Multi TR1 with 1/10 Surfex HD and KC GS.... Cant wait for using them After Labocosmetica Ductile that has been a good product for me in pre wash and in textile 2ph wash. Better dilute them with demineralized or tap water? Different opinions about that cause tap water seems better to rinse 🤔
Does surfex affect waxes ?
Is the Bilt Hamber a TFR?
Could you use Surfex HD purely as a wheel and tyre cleaner without the need for any additional cleaners?
Yep. 5 to 10% on both wheels and tyres. Would only need fall-out remover like Korrosol or Auto wheels every few months if you care about iron particles.
7:05 your outro made me dizzy. mission accomplished :D
Could you use this instead of auto finesse citrus power in the pre wash stage?
can be used to remove road film yes mate.
Anyone know the song at the end?
Great video Jon! Do any of these have the power to remove waxes or sealants when used as instructed? (e.g. 1:20 or 1:30) I am thinking of using it as a pre-wash but don't want it to remove the LSP (fusso coat). Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.
Didn't bother to reply! 🤦🏻♂️
Hello again Jon from Spain... You have a lot of followers here. No words... Surfex hd is amazing... I have It ... The best APC degreaser... Can you try a vídeo with korrosol vs ironx ? Cu !!!!!
Would you use surfex hd on cloth seats and then extract? If so what dilution ratio would you use
5 or 10% on fabric seats. Extract using wet and dry vac or if you have something purpose-built and fancier which costs hundreds more. Left to air dry.
Can't bilt hamber do any wrong. Superb.
Is surfex hd any good at getting polish or wax off black bumper trim ? And if not what can I use to get it off ?
Try APC and a Magic Eraser.
On this episode of The Forensic Detailing Channel, find out which APC has CBD as its SECRET ingredient!
hello, thanks for the video, I did not know Bilt Hamber, I will order to test :-)
I was very happy with Green Star (even if I find it a bit sticky at times), can you confirm that Bilt Hamber is a concentrated dilution product?
greeting from Brussels.
Yes BH is concentrated
Lord of the detailers
John, another question for you; Having driven my car around most of the day I’m keen to give it a quick wash down, it only slightly dusty. What’s your thoughts on covering the car in surfex using a foam bottle, and then rinsing it down. I’ll give the wheels a good wash but I’m keen just to get any road salt off the car that is still around.
sure you can use it this way but surfex is a powerfull degreser.. if its just light dust then a normal snow foam prewash is prolly better. problem is you never break away all the dust or dirt with prewash. you need a bit of contact.. so when you try and dry a car thats just been prewashed only you can scratch it more if towel drying...
Simple question, for a 1 litre spray bottle what would you recommend for a dilution for general cleaning? 100ml/900ml?? Thanks in advance
hey simon 1:9 is good for most extertior degreasing tyres, engine bay etc.. 1:20 for lower panel pump sprayer prewash. 1:30-1:40 for interior wipe downs.
@@ForensicDetailing thank you for getting back to me. Really enjoying your videos
Does Surfex HD clean water spots as good as FSE?
It's a degreaser, not a quick detailer.
Hi does greenstar APC have any effect on the wax/sealant? Have you done any testing on this?
It will degrade protection more
Hi jon after some advice please mate wot would be the best ratio mix of surfex for a rubberised dashboard 👍
2to5% pir m8
@ForensicDetailing thanks Jon 👍
What about G101?
Know of any place I can purchase Bilt Hamber in 5 liters in the US?
There's an official importer ,don't remember who 🤔
Jon is FLEXin
Hey John , should i go with Surfex HD or BH´s Snow Foam as a pre cleaner in a standard pressure sprayer ?.
I've seen tests that shows that Snow foam is even better than HD when sprayed 😮 sad part is that it's twice the price here in IT
Yes shame about the postage from the UK . I can get both (5L ) here in Germany for 29,90 which isn`t to bad .
Hi, are these okay to clean engine bay and parts? Not feeling using water to be fair to rinse
yes m8, but they need rinsing away or mopping up with a microfiber.
Getting a bit of a habit now on a Sunday, more products ordered from bilt Hamber 😂😂👍
Hi John, do I need to apply Surfex HD through a normal pump sprayer?
Any way u want mate. Trigger sprayer is goid
How you made the DIRT SIMULATOR?
I would like to replicate your test to find out the strength between the Swedish Alkalines that exist here.
Hello! For better job when i do rinsless wash. May i dilute 1% to 2% of Surfex HD in a 1000ml spray triger to all car panels? Of course i will be careful do not dry to the car paint. Thnx!!
hey alex surfex needs to be rinsed, so you could not use this with a rinseless wash unless you are going to rinse it off.
@@ForensicDetailing Thank you my friend! Keep help us with your lovely video ;)
Sooboth of these are after for interior and exterior of course. Whether you add it to your car shampoo or even your leather interior?
Have a watch if my best APC video m8 it answers all this
I use Surfex HD around the house, it's amazing for breaking down limescale at 20%
@Nunya Business It does everything mate. You'll never buy Cilit Bang ever again. Literally, there's nothing Surfex HD can't rip apart around the house. I've even washed greasy pans with Surfex HD because it's way better than fairy and W5 at cutting through the grease.
Bit of a question - the BH is in a trigger bottle, which looks like ready to use, but you talk of diluting - should it be diluted or used as is? or is the trigger bottle ready to use, 5l can need diluting?
Thanks
Both come neat and will need diluting to your desired dilution rate :)
@@DiiZeh_ Grand, thanks for the confirmation.
I’ve transferred to Greenstar as my pre wash over snow foam. It’s excellent 👍🏼😎
At wich ratio ?
1:30
@@D992 Thank's , by snow foam you mean BH snowfoam ?
No. I use The Chemical Guys snowfoam. It’s green
Update. Now using BH AF as pre wash.
Surfex HD el mejor APC que he utilizado, nada comparable, incluso como desengrasante pesado en el motor. Saludos desde Chile
Encantado amigo
Koch recommend to go up to 1:3 for hard dirt and degreasing. 1:10 is recommended for inside car cleaning. In Germany Surfex coast 17€ for 1l! So almost 3 times more than Koch.
Based on that intro one of them obviously got you stoned ! Which one ?
Asking for a friend
It's definitely Koch Chemie. I use BH, and there's little to nothing of scent about it. Splash of citrus smell here and there. The German's however have a way with humour...
So surprised it wasnt a lot closer as green star is amazing! I'm really gonna have to give bilt a shot soon, they just work dont they!
was kind of close because greenstar worked but you can see it wasnt as powerfull. no other APC's Ive used so far effect this dirt simulator much though. Important point that, because greenstar is very powerfull cleaner as well.
@@ForensicDetailing I've been using GS for interior cleaning as (to me) it doesn't seem as "harsh" when mixed down, anihhalated my engine bay on higher ratio - versatility is quality. Big shout out to autoglanz infinite btw!
@@hawx7gaming368
I have the GS, yet to use it! I'm planning on making up a bottle specifically for interior, dash and seats. What ratio would I use?
Also, what would you suggest for exterior ratio?
