But Brandi got electrocuted and died. When Beau got back from college, he was able to resurrect Brandi, who became a zombie and IMMEDIATELY after coming to life, STARTED FLIRTING WITH HER OWN SON. You can use the tombstone of L/D to add the child into a different household. Unfortunately the adoptive parents won't get the adoption memory or be recognised as parents, but the child will have all the memories from their bio family and be in their family tree. Also the bio family will remember having their child being taken away. It isn't really like a adoption, more like a foster family. It can be a lot of fun.

    You think that stuff was disturbing here's one thing I accidentally had happen:
    In one family I had a girl be taking away by the social workers(not intentionally), because she had bad grades. I then adopted her to a different family. Fast forward to her becoming an adult and I ended up putting her into a relationship with her biological dad. I first realized that after I had already done it and saved saId relationship.

    Something that bugged me a lot was that adopted children that have been taken away from a neighbour don't retain their memories. I created orphans in the SIMS 2.
    I had a couple have twins. A boy and girl. Sadly the couple died leaving their babies. Social worker comes and gets them. Later I had a couple adopt one of the babies and then another couple adopted the other. As the kids grew up they became friends and then lovers they got married and had kids. I found that very strange that they were siblings but once the social worker takes them away they lose the sibling status unless they got adopted by the same parents. The SIMS 2 games were strange in that aspect.

    Some more that I know of:
    -Kids only end up in the 'adoption pool' if neither of the parents (and/or no-one in the household) have a Family aspiration. I believe this is because something like the aspiration benefits from Freetime were intended to be in the base game, with Family parents able to call and plead for their child to be returned to them at any time.
    -You can fill up the adoption pool with multiple kids and they will all get preference for adoption, from latest to oldest. They don't get erased by others being taken from home.
    -If you screw up the order and want a kid that's somewhere in the middle of the pool, have a dummy family adopt until that point, adopt the preferred child with the real family, then let the dummy family's kids be taken. The kids will have no memory of this mishap.
    -Kids in the adoption pool become unplayable, uninvitable and uncontactable unless you add them to a household using Tombstone of L and D.
    -You can create a functioning orphanage by adding the kids to a household as explained above. If adopted they will upon the next load no longer be in the orphanage, and upon the next save disappear from the orphanage household portrait.
    -If you age anyone older than Teen down to a child, they will have an F report card and be taken away by the social worker almost immediately. If you age a teen down to a child, they will retain their report card value, so mind that they're not failing.
    -If you want kids to retain their memories when adopted, you can do a fake adoption with Tombstone of L and D. I believe the only things that non-relatives can't do but relatives can, other than the family kiss, is to teach toddler skills, to help with homework, and to give teens permission to Go Out. Very helful when you want siblings to retain strong ties, or have a kid resistant to the love of their new family due to negative mempries with the old family.

    First time I adopted a sim on the sims 2 (base game no expansions or mods), the kid had some sort of bug on her face that looked like she had a cleft lip (or maybe it wasn't a bug, just weird lip genetics). It made me real sad because my 13yo self tought that her parents abandoned her due to the malformation.
    Adopted hundreds of kids after that one, but it never appeared again.

  • @leslie2149
    @leslie2149 Před 4 lety +15

    I tend to "seed" the adoption pool by making seven toddlers and one adult, then killing off the adult and let the kids get taken away. This way if a family in my game adopt a toddler I know what they're getting. Also, last one in is first one out. That's why a child that's taken away from a family will be the first one available for adoption. Always. I have never adopted a baby before but someone may have to at some point now so I can see how the mixing of the genes go since some Sims 2 sims have questionable genes. Great video I always love these.

Of course townies may get married in eventually anyways, but when I batch-create custom townies using the old PeggySims way of randomizing in BodyShop, I end up with really interesting Sims that I don't want to marry into my families right away because they're such a bother to create so I want to see them wandering around for a while before doing another set, but I'm always so excited to start getting their genes into my playables family trees. I forgot about this newborn and adopted a baby into a different family, thinking i'd get a townie mix. As soon as he arrived on the lot, he had the inheritance memory as he had interherited money from his deceased bio mom, being technically her last living relative. He didn't add extra funds to the family household tho, unfortunately. His bio mom also owned a huge vacation home, but the deed got transferred to a random neighbour.

    One more proof that adopted babies are created from townies: when you use face defaults and adopt toddlers or children, they'll be generated with new pretty face templates. But babies will have original maxis face features from pre-made townies, at least until enough new townies are spawned.

    How different is Sims 3 from 2 in this regard?
    I did a little experiment once (in 3) where I had the parent die and the kid taken away, then tried to have another family adopt her. It didn't work, as she never appeared in the adoption window, yet she was still in the town with some kind of... hmm, townie foster family or something, where I assume all townie children 'live'.

    • @Marticore
      @Marticore  Před 4 lety +6

      It's weird there. The parents are still connected to the kids via family tree and can invite them (if they're not babies/toddlers), so if you type testingcheats, you can just add the child back to the family xD But I don't think they can be re-adopted :O

    • @Marticore
      @Marticore  Před 4 lety +3

      It's very possible that townies are homozygous, if that's what you're refering to. But it doesn't concern Komei and Marisa that much, as only Marisa has a dominant eye color, other than that all their genes are non-dominant! :D

    Reason #2 why kids can get taken away is no joke. I was family with the Newson family in Sims 2 (it starts with 2 teens, 2 children, & 2 toddlers) and was doing well. The toddlers aged up and everything was great, then I got a notification that one of the boy children was overheating.
    I clicked on him to see that he was jumping on the bed in his pjs. Then I heard the dreaded jingle and four of my six family members disappeared from my sims selection. I rage quit and went back to a previous save.
