replicated this with pretty much the same results, which was kinda disappointing since i really wanted gossip and memories to be more gameplay relevant so bad 😭. like the feature is basically there for no reason and 99% of the gossip wouldn't be relevant even if it was. but i like looking through the memories in simpe sometimes, i found it really funny that someone (probably herself or her wife) told her daughter about that one time when she accidentally electrocuted herself when she was a baby. so onto my results. on reddit, someone suggested that marticore could have gotten unlucky, which is an argument that holds up. sims gossip about whatever, so there's a pretty good chance that the sims in this video could have been gossiping about anything other than cheating (my theory was that gossip selects memories pretty randomly, so one affair memory out of a gazillion useless memories/gossip could make it a rare occurrence for sims to discover cheating by gossip). i prevented this using simpe by taking a family fresh out of CAS and wiping out the witness' memories before they witnessed the act. they'd have literally nothing to talk about except cheating! and sure enough, daniel pleasant's daughters (this wasn't actually in pleasantview, i used completely different sims in a test neighborhood with the pleasants' names just to dunk on them lol and i changed the maid to a roomie, so i'll be using their names here) witnessed him having an affair. they did the usual "yuck" animation, relationship score falling, etc. i had them gossip to mary-sue. the gossip was clearly about the affair, dad and his mistress's faces in chat bubbles, etc., confirming via simpe that this was the only possible gossip. what's interesting is that even though i spammed gossip and even though it clearly was about the affair, the gossip memory didn't appear in mary sue's memories in simpe. copy-pasting her daughter's memories to her in simpe doesn't do anything. i haven't yet tested if the same thing happens if they gossip to anyone else also, the first time i did this, i planned on just creating fake memories/gossip in simpe and seeing if that does anything. it didn't, obviously, but similar effects would happen where they'd visibly gossip about the memories but i didn't check if they spread in simpe. also, i made daniel pleasant remember having an affair with a random townie none of the pleasants ever met probably messed up that test neighborhood with simpe lol. anyways i believe players may misinterpret falling out of love and general dislike between sims as fallout of affair rumors

I've noticed that sims with higher charisma skills are better in selling interactions of OfB expansion

I'm also in the "never getting default replacements" camp. The Sims' vanilla look is too iconic and nostalgic for me to mess with like that. I also find some of the more "hyperrealistic" default replacements, especially the skin tone ones, are kind of edging into the Uncanny Valley. My biggest "ubiquitous mod I don't use" is probably ACR.

Late response, but 9:07 is absolutely a real thing that's actually really easy to trigger, no matter which version of the game: all you need to do is use change appearance on the mirror, not once, but *twice*. For some reason, doing so only once resets their skin tone/eye color, but twice so reveals their broken face features. Keep in mind this only happens if you do this to Ophelia's parents and Lyla Grunt. Their glitchy faces are also genetic and will pass down to new children, even you didn't make these features revealed! Some really spooky stuff

Now that I know how to use SimPE I resolved the adopted kid issue by having each child their family flag checked with their original family members in their relationships, so they won't have any attraction and be locked out of romantic interactions with them once they grow up.

oh my god I literally haven't played sims 4 in years because of this, and EA support sent me around in circles even when the game went free to play, it worked with all my DLC thank you for this hack! I wish I never bought the base game in Poland when I was visiting family, I just happened to have holiday money then at the age of 14 and suffered for the last 10 years for it. Depsite buying all my dlc in the UK, my regions being set to the UK, my physical computer being here too. I live in the uk now and my polish is very weak these days, they punish players for buying the game somewhere else when europe is so multi cultural. It's insane. I even pirated the game at one point just to play it in English. Really glad we have an official way to fix this now!

Some of my premades just have to fulfill this want. Like Tatiana in Veronaville. But my absolute favourite chaotic thing to do is Don Lothario and Nina Caliente having as many kinds as possible. They are beautiful (equal genetics mod to avoid all having black hair). I like playing big families, its more fun for me. I just can’t take the population boom afterwards. So i don’t have any of the kids have Family aspiration in the next generations.

This has always been confusing to me too, though as someone said, Sims aren't real life people and there's a lot of things that works different in their universe so I don't care too much. I have always counted turning toddler = 1 year old (because babies are babies), child = 5 years old, teenager = 13 years old. Then for teenagers I count two days for each year, so they're 13 yo when they have 15 AND 14 days left, 14 yo when they have 13 AND 12 days left etc. I know that puts them out of sync but it makes sense to me and somehow works well in gameplay, I guess cause it evens out in the long run. Then I send them off to university when they have 4 days left, making each uni year one of those days. If someone skips uni they just live out their teenage days instead, which keeps them in sync with their peers. Adult to elder is the worst! I've always been sad that there is no middle-age life span and hate that the Sims will go from looking like they did at university to looking like they're at least 70 but apparently being 54 ?? But I recently downloaded some CC wrinkles and they do SO MUCH for my middle-aged Sims ❤️ also generally changing style and appearance as they grow helps feeling like they're aging. I've also recently decided that everyone gets 1 tank (?) of the elixir of life as standard, making the adult lifespan 15 days longer (if someone doesn't have the aspiration points or level for it, growing old earlier can be explained by a lower quality of life). Approximately, I've calculated and decided that the sim is about 21-22 when graduating uni, then they turn 30 when they have 20 days left as an adult, then 40 at 10 days, then 50 at 0 days but then they get those extra 15 days making them as a rule 65 when they turn into an elder, which makes a lot more sense both appearance wise and considering the fact that they can then retire if they want to.
