  • Mercifully, the promised gale force winds were not evident to us in the channel although some of us were well dosed up and others, including me, decided to pass the time on the ferry with our eyes closed. Of course, being aware that I carry a certain snore, decided to go and hide in the corner of the cabin but in his ignorance, Mike decided to be friendly and join me but bailed out pretty quickly
    when the consternation amongst the rest of the voyagers became apparent to my "sawing" snore !! I heard one woman say "its him that big man making all the noise"!
    Eventually I picked up the courage to sheepishly walk past the relieved passengers and take a trip onto the deck, where the Cherboug Peninsula was already in sight.
    On arriving in France, the rain stopped and we stopped so that some could take off their raingear - it was quite warm. The deserted second class rural roads we took across the peninsula to just northof Utah Beach were stunning and we hardly saw a car in 1.5 hours.
    Interesting to see UTAH beach and after we rode to Bayeux via Carentan because I needed to inspect their bunting. A few weeks ago it was discovered that the local council conveniently forgot to put up any British flags but gladly there was a change of heart and no need for me to plant 20 union jacks in the "Hotel de Ville" front garden !!
    We arrived at Bayeux late at about 8pm French time, checked into the hotel before going out for some dinner.
    The fun had started !

    Loved this video. The humour was gentle and yet we’ve all been there … stops at the side of the road to remove rain gear, the odd wee and of course the thrill of leaving the ferry.
    Been to Bayeaux twice on the bike and just love all the history of the Normandy landings.
    Lest we forget.

    Well the show has finally started, bike Brits abroad on small bikes. The Bocage looks quite handy for a change of clothes and there is a toilet around every corner🤣We laugh at people snoring but it's no joke for the listener..My wife and I have separate bedrooms. I have visited the Normandy battlefields and the whole area is beautiful. Not so for those poor buggers on D-Day. Enjoy the ride boys and we enjoy it with you. 😊👍🏍NJ

    Great video rob. I wouldn’t have the confidence to travel to France on my bike. But take my hat off to you all.

    I think your bike one of if nothing the best looking 125. Did this trip a few years ago. Buildings are lovely, also noticing a lot of french cars how very patriotic and sad about uk car prowess. A lot of people slag french cars I am a French car lover

    Glad to see that you all got there ok, Rob - despite your nocturnal reverberations. 🤣 My late wife could snore for England, so I can certainly understand Mike bailing out!

    Wrong side of the road? I thought you were finally on the correct side.
    Actually, here in British Columbia, we didn't drive on the right until I think 1931. After all, we were a British colony.

    Was it easy to cope with the right side riding, Rob ? The vintage scooter riders are something ese, they adore their scooters, despite not been perfect at all. Very interesting upgrades on the blue Meteor. Mudflap, handguards, screen extender, sump guard and nice luggage .. Ready to conquer France or the world. Nice vintage military machinery everywhere. I am a bit a sucker for vintage machinery of all kinds.

    • @RobLittleuk
      @RobLittleuk  Před 24 dny

      RHS riding is not a problem - its something we all have to do if we want to leave the UK. Yes Mike made a good job of his Meteor.

    How’s the xsr holding up Rob? Thinking about buying one. Do you recommend? Im a larger chap like yourself, does it struggle at all?

    • @RobLittleuk
      @RobLittleuk  Před 21 dnem +1

      Absolutely no prob with the XSR and all I can say is it is bound to struggle less than any other 125 because it has the full 15HP - 6th gear is like an overdrive. I was leading larger capacity bikes that were not keeping up with me.....! My one criticism is that the pegs could be slightly lower but you get used to it!

    How does poor Mrs L. put up with your snooooring !!! Mrs B. moved into another room some time back due to mine, as I have the same dietician as you. Good to see ther Bocage has it uses, our US Allies were not impressed with it 80 years ago. Trying to get 6 people in the same place at ther same time can be a nightmare !! good luck.
