- In this video we look at a £40 budget Chinese radio the Quansheng TG-UV2-PLUS the supposed high power revamp of this popular radio, will it live up to the specs on the box and how will it compete with the other so called high power sets?

I fell in love Quangsheng radios after a review from Radiosification.
I bought eight of them for me and my friends and I have no regrets.
I bought the UV-R50 but I'll also try out the TG-UV2-PLUS although I have chills about this one.
The Baofeng in this review didn't do bad though
Great review
Yes the UV82 plus is a superb radio as well
So happy to see you again :D Welcome back, can't wait for the next Pye pf8 episode
Thanks it's good to be back There is progress on the PF8 all will be revealed soon.
Thanks mate great video! No unnecessary waffle, a host who knows their stuff, and loads of useful information! Cheers mate
Cheers
Really good test. Thank you.
Looks really good. I may well add one to my collection when I get my Foundation.
Yes for the money is a belter as are the other 2 radios on test here, it's not all about power but I like the fact it does actually output it's rated power, normally you have to pay for top brands for that.
Yup that quansheng rocks-and refreshingly-like you said seems to live up to the hype. Think I’ll have to have one- thanks for taking the hassle out of radio reviews , Barnie M7PBX.👍🏼
Your welcome 👍
Superb review, the little radio is quite the bang for the buck.
Yes I nearly used that as the title! Thanks for watching 😄
hi can you do a distance test for the boafeng UV10R ? thanks
Are these just like the Wouxon KG UV9P's and similar versions???
I bought a bunch of these chinese radios and the winner for me is the TYT uv98!!
Nice review!
Thanks 👍
Amazon US only has the tri-band version, now going for upwards of $80
You never mentioned that it's a Superhet.
The 2024 version has USB charging, which is always a plus point.
Hi knoxieman. What would you say about tyt th-uv8000d vs tg-uv2-plus? Which is better? I have uv8000d, but i can still return it to the shop and i am wondering if tg-uv2plus will be better? UV8000d has 10W too. I am wondering also, maybe the quansheng has better stock antenna than tyt and therefore it results in stronger signal in your test? It would be great that u would do the test again, BUT using the same antenna on all three radios. That test would be the best u can test actually. Every radio with its own antenna: the difference could be mostly because of the antenna itself... Please advice me on the choice between tyt and quansheng. Quansheng is more pricey, costing around 30 bucks more.
Just going by this test, watch the S meter. The TYT was a least as strong, if not more so.
i have a several Baofeng radios rated 12 watts. Using power meter, you are lucky if you have one that puts out 7 or 8 watts. Most triple power puts out 1,3, 5 watts max.
amazing stuff
Looks solid
Yes it's very solid and it delivers the power stated which in my experience rarely is the case.
Great to see you back Knoxie with regular videos. Good video to your normal thorough standards! 2E0MNX
Thanks mate
Try comparing and contrasting the Baofeng UV-H7 and the Tidradio TD-H6 10W radios with the Quangsheng. They're all very good radios at budget prices. The H7s, though, are crippled by the fact that batteries are unavailable in the USA. I'm really drawn to the H6 radios. No flashlight and all radio. The H7 also has no flashlight, but you can use the bright display as a flashlight
Is this radio programmable with CHIRP? Spurious emissions, unwanted harmonics like the Baofeng UV5R+?
No you can't program in chirp
Hi to you from Israel.
My friends and I travel through the desert with HT devices.
Don't need another band. No other frequencies are listened to either.
Which it is. We need a long transmission range.
So which device is under $50 best for us?
The retevis RT5 is a very punchy radio if you are on a budget however if you can stretch to it this radio is top class in terms of power, on the cheap radios look to change the antenna this will improve performance, if you can get a magnetic mount and roof mount the antenna that will make a huge difference, using radios inside the car isn't great for range.
@@knoxieman How many watts is that? Compared to the competition?
I mean real power.
And besides, which baofeng is the strongest?
RT5 is 5 watts, I wouldn't focus too much on power, all of the budget radios are very similar, just a standard UV5R with a decent antenna should be OK, you can buy folding tactical antennas if you want better range. Diamond make some good antennas for HT radios but buy from a reputable retailer because there are fakes about.
Thanks very much for the information and tutorial and details.. hope you all the best and God bless you... from Iraq.
you are most welcome 😎
nice!
Good device!
Hello, thank u for making the video! Would like to check with you on the battery life, is it able to let u have perhaps 2 days of usage? Im comparing the uv2+ & ZT A19, the A19 biggest weakness to me is the smaller battery of 2800mAh tho i do like its dual ptt & easy-to-setup crossband repeater.
I'll.be honest I've not checked battery life but it puts out a solid 10W and doesn't drop on low power I think you will be OK, I'll charge it and see
Does anyone know where you can download the software for programming this HT? If you go to the quangsheng web page the download appears to be password protected.
Password was 666666
@@cdrmakerdvdmaster364 thanks
I had this from 2018
Yes I'm late to the party as ever ha ha it's a good radio, well chosen sir.
Excellent video
Thanks Alan 👍
Radioddity GA-510 boasts 10 watts as well about the same price. It sits on the shelf getting dust (it's that bad). I'll stay with the big 3 from now on.
Yes so many quote big power but don't deliver
Whats the softwear you using on pc
SDR Play
voice scrambling on these?
Atmosphere also matters
The weird background music is intrusive 🤔
Where did you get it from for 40£?
AliExpress
@@knoxieman Thx❤
About $60 now.
Quan Sheng or baofeng???
Is this a grms radio?
It isn't no
is it dangerous to transmit with 10watts that close to your face?
I was thinking that 👍 I think the jury is still out on that one
10 watts that close to your head IS bad.
Yes maybe one for the car only 😄
It is dangerous but that's a good excuse to keep your transmissions short.
@@knoxieman 😂🙏🏽
The 350-390 mhz is disabled by manufacturer
Yes
What is this band used for?
@@wilcoxtactical3716 i dont know, but its a third band that should be available with the radio as advertised.
Whats the range on that on simplex? Can yourbusevthis radio toblisten to the police?
Simplex I've done 35 miles, no police reception here in the UK,might be ok for police monitoring in other countries 👍
Thats really far away!! Cool!!
Not Bad Average
I Double Check One at Night and 1 Evenings Because Conditions Matter.
fox "jumps"
I know ha ha I never say it correctly
@@knoxieman same here. lol
The antenna of TG-UV2-PLUS is not good at all, especially at 433 MHz. I've conducted the test of TG-UV2-PLUS with the antenna of UV-R50, it's much better; the video is uploaded on my channel.
I bought Retevis 701 antenna
Breaka Breaka Copie that.
