I've been having issues with my 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with what I thought was my battery because I've been jumping it a lot to get it to start. I took it into the jeep service department and he said I have a code P1443-14 "Stop/Start Control Circuit-Circuit Short to Ground or Open." Did you have this same code? Thanks
We did not have any codes. I tested the battery and it was bad. Confirmed with Batteries plus. We replaced the battery and our issues were resolved. I am assuming you googled your code?
I see. Thanks for the response. Yeah, I did but I wasn't able to find anything helpful other than the same than P1443-14 "Stop/Start Control Circuit-Circuit Short to Ground or Open.@@LIOverdrive
My 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk has Stop/Start issues most of the time. It said "Stop/Start unavailable, battery charging" all the time. I took it to my dealer and they said the auxilary battery was dead, and they replaced it. It worked a few times since then, but mostly says "stop/start unavailable" for battery charging or cabin heating. Now it has an error message that it's not working with no reason why. Will both batteries affect the stop/start system?
There is no aux battery, confirmed on the MOPAR parts website. You need to go back to the dealer and have them show exactly where that battery is, they'll say it is under the seat, there is no room under the seat nor is there any location. I replaced my main battery at Advanced, working fine. FYI, '16 Cherokee Trailhawk, 3.2 V6. My dealer tried to same BS, went to Advanced to see if I can change it myself, there is no listing for a second battery.
I had same error on my Grand Cherokee and took it to dealership so they charge me $150 to do a car scan to find out that it has no errors. ...and told me that maybe I should do a battery test for additional $99 since after a car scan and seeing the message they think it's might be a battery. I don't know why I even charged since I have bumper to bumper warranty still and why the mechanic didn't started with battery testing seeing the message. Also according to dealership driving for 40 minutes twice a day are not enough to recharge the battery. I am not sure why when I first bought it a year ago nothing was wrong with a battery then (no messages) when it started in -36C after standing on parking spot for at least 2 weeks this one time. It was also shocking it started. Apparently it was enough charge for 2 whole weeks as well. Now I decided that at the moment it's cheaper and probably more effective to do my own diagnostic. So I am in a process of asking friends to borrow a voltage meter at the moment. Also not sure why the option to see a battery charge did disappear in my vehicle all of a sudden. I know it's was there before. Thank you for reminder.
You should ask for a refund from the dealer. This is ridiculous. No services were rendered. And you have a warranty. This should have been free of charge. Driving 80 min a day is more than enough to charge the battery. My guess is the battery is just bad/wont hold charge. you can take your vehicle to Batteries Plus and they will test your battery for free!!! Most auto parts stores do this as well.(advance, O'riely, NAPA) Also, most newer jeeps with the Stop/start system will have a second battery under the passenger seat. stay tuned, I will be posting a video on this.
I got my auxiliary battery replaced two days ago on my Jeep compass 2021 and it still says start/stop not ready cabin cooling or heating I’ve tried everything on manual and still not working 😢
@@LIOverdrive The dealership told me there are no trouble codes. The Jeep still within the 3 year warranty. They charged the battery and it worked for awhile. Now, it says charging again. It worked for almost 3 years with no issues. Our city driving has not changed. Do we need a new battery?
@@RemE14MZ I tried to get a battery under the 3 year warranty, but the dealership said FCA wouldn't warranty it unless there was a trouble code. I will go get it replaced at a local mechanic.
@@raycastillo9992 I've been told two different things from two people at the jeep dealership. One said there was a battery and the other one said that mine doesn't have the second battery. I'm supposed to take it to them to do a diagnostic tomorrow to see what's going on. I just replaced the battery the other day with an AGM battery but the one before that was just replaced a few months ago in Sept. I hope they can tell me what's going on tomorrow.
I don't believe that is correct at all. My 2017 does NOT have 2 batteries. It does have an AGM battery, the first clue I had that the battery was going dead was that the start/stop was always showing "charging". The GRAND Cherokee has 2 batteries, but the regular Cherokee does not.
That is what I feel. It has to be something draining the battery. I just got mine out of the shop yesterday. Every other light the start/stop will work and then next light it will say not working battery charging.😬

So...what if it's not your battery and you get the service auto start stop system

That is my understanding. If your model is equipped with two batteries and either has gone bad this system will not function.

Turn off the AC
Other than that, you might need to take it to the dealership and have them clear the codes from the ECU
@@LIOverdrive thank you will try that 😄👍

I recommend testing your battery first. Start/stop also will not work If you come to a stop on an incline or decline…..
