I wish I had this "problem" of start/stop not working. I hate it but it works too well on my Subaru. And I think that start/stop is more nocive for the environment because it deteriorates, the battery, the starter and even the engine prematurely. I always disable it.

You can reset your stop/start in a mk8 fiesta (might work on other models) but turning on the ignition (but not the engine) activate the dipped headlights, flash the full beams 5 times and then press the brakes 3 times. The battery light on the dash will them flash. Turn off the ignition and it will reset. The battery being over 75% and the engine being up to temp still applies. Enjoy!
This worked for me but 5 times on the rear fog button and 3 times on the hazard button...

Still had trouble did all this, had to use the starting handle put it in the exchaust pipe couple turns and it's working fine now.
My battery light actually started flashing! This can't be a serious suggestion surely though?
Edit: I genuinely thought this was a windup, I didn't realise my car has built in cheat codes! 😂. This worked perfectly and my start-stop worked immediately. Ford Focus Mk3
We got Ryan’s post to work, it needed two attempts then the battery light flashed, and boom, all working again.
We did charge the car on a charger the night before for 3 hours just in case, so the battery should have been fine, but needed this reset. Thanks matey 👍🏻
To reactivate stop/start: ignition on; press right hand fog light five times; turn the hazard warning lights on and off three times. Worked for me, though you may have to repeat the process at times.

The problem is the smart alternator doesn’t seem to allow charge to go to the battery due to saving the planet, the bms (battery monitor system) says not today, even after hours of driving the battery never charges. Solution was to purchase a smart charger and keep topping up the battery, all we need is a software update to fix these issues and also to stop the vehicle going into deep sleep allowing the smart features to work
Thanks for the Video. So what is 75% of charge in volts Ford Focus LZ 2016 1.5 ecoboost has this issue! Resting Batt Volts 12.3V engine running Batt Volts 14V.
Car has not been sitting, just did a 4 hour non stop trip(with lights on fog & Sydney Tunnels) still Stop/Start not working. 2 1/2 year old battery 400$ oz
Put the heater on really (Aircon in Australia ) or put the headlights on! Is not that going to use more fuel and create more emissions, is not that a bit like a dog chasing its tail.
Does that mean this is a bigger problem in the summer than winter when the blower and lights are on much more.
the sign comes up on mine, but it never stops not that i want to use stop start. I think in fact it uses more fuel if its stopping at every traffic light and the traffices moving steady
🤔 well I don’t know what’s up with mine my battery is a year old but ever time I start it it beeps and comes up on the dash stop start error :( any thoughts why this is?
I have a Ford s max 2016 I recently changed the alternator and now a brand new battery, but the problem I’m having now is that the brakes are gone hard and the engine is not starting. Does anyone know what the problem is? Thank you
I have a mk4 focus st brought it In September from main dealer. Its never worked u till today when I did a battery reset and it worked strange away . Five high been flashes followed by 3 pushups on the break? Wait for battery to flash then battery reset . I was supposed when it worked . My battery was tested and its health battery .
Start/Stop is a completely useless facility and has no benefit to anything. In fact it must be detrimantal to the battery, starter motor and engine. Turn it off.
That stupid feature i hate on my 2018 escape, many times happened to me in a stop light, then when i step on the gas the car won’t auto start and I’m left with angry drivers at my back! Then the process of putting it to park/turn off key then On again just to start the engine again
Hi, after changing new battery in Ford Kuga (2018)I am seeing engine light is on. Could you please advice to reset it to see it’s real issue or not.

I have a focus MK3.5 (2016), bought it last year and I noticed 4-6 months ago the start stop isn't working anymore. I drive my car every day for 5-6 hours and never had any issues with turning on the engine or any other electrical issue even in cold temperatures. There isn't any warning light or notification about start stop not working, it simply doesn't work. What could be the problem?

OK that is making sense now. I haven't driven the work Transit Custom regularly for a while now and this explains why it's not working as the mo. Is there somewhere in the dash menu to check the battery power level?
Hi Chris ! I have this problemi on my Puma 1500 td. The start stop doesn't work, and the malfunctioning light appear for few seconds on the cockpit. The car isn't used every day...and this could be the reason. Have you other ideas about this fault? Tks so much.

Yep, I'm the same. I can switch it off, but I wish it was permanently off then if I want it I could press the button.
How do you rest the global windows ,they work when unlocking however don’t work when closing and the one touch opening don’t work
brother i have ford fiesta mk6 1.4 tdci my problem is that whenever i start the car battery warning light comes on the dash but if i fully press the throttle all the way to 5k rpm it starts charging and light goes offf , plz help me to solve this issue . this problem started while i was driving home
Hi Chris I have a 2016 Nissan QQ 1.6 petrol my battery been tested by a specialist they have said it’s a very healthy battery but I am still getting a Stop/Start fault.
Does the Qashqai have any hidden battery that assist the main battery and stop/start?

Hi. On the 2019 Ford Escape, is there a method of adjusting the brake pedal pressure needed on the autostart? In other words, with slightest amount of less pressure on the brake pedal, the car starts. I want to be able to move my foot a little more without the auto start kicking on the engine.
I had that same issue with stop/start and my radio and a service vehicle soon but scan the car and no fault code but when a mechanic check the battery was the fault on a 2014 vauxhall insignia.
Change the battery and everything start working instantly
Are you saying I shoudl drive around WITH lights/heater on to better charge the battery? My car battery shows about 50% and stop start is BARELY working. Both the START and STOP are intermittent so I thought it was a problem with button contacts rather than battery...no?

My f150 stop start stopped working 2 months after I got the truck. Apparently the battery never is charged never reaches 75%.
The auto stop start is ready for 24 hours after switching off the power, then become no ready is it normal?
If it's not working just go and get your battery checked as that's the most likely cause. New battery on my car and stop start now working fine (though I turn it off 😃)

2016 petrol 240 s-max power shift etc with stage 1 tune (feels less lazy with 275hp) but that gearbox is a 3 point turn nightMare..anyway after a good run few hundred miles & regular use it’s still not doing it & power accessories won’t work unless car is on (screen says it’s to save power). Getting 11.8v off & 14.2 engine on so alternator is ok..am I right to guess it’s the domestic battery in the bumper that’s failed to keep voltage as car starts fine..

Mine says it has been switched off due to extreme incline. But when I'm on an upwards incline it will work. How do I reset level?
Got a Ford Ka, 14 plate, when this happens on the car, the car often goes into limp mode, is this down to the battery level or would it be something else?

My start stop never works i took it to Toomey's Citroen My dealer (under warrantee) and was told I'm not driving it far enough, i use this van every day apart from Sundays, they said i need to take it on a long drive, i replied i have just come back from a 4 hour drive to a location and a further 4 hours back, i was told this is not long enough, its since been back to Toomey's and although i have tested the battery for a full day where the alternator is only putting out 12.2 volts i was told everything is working as it should and that my van is a heavy (weight wise) van therefore the the battery will take longer to charge. i just got it back today, stop start still not working and the engine sounds like a bag of nails, and has done since new, they said that's the characteristics of the engine and it sounds like that...... i feel someone thinks I'm a little stupid. its been in 7 times so far within 18 months and nothing has been done.
i was also told i should not use my lights, blowers or anything that requires electrical power as i need all the power to go to the battery, your video suggests otherwise so i will give this a try, thank you
Alternator voltage should be around 14 volts.
@philsimpson3556 yes it fluctuates between 12.9 and 15.0 volts. Lately its been sitting at the 14.9 volts but the stop start never works. Toomeys are just full of excuses.

I have a 2013 transit custom trend 2.2 with stop start and I have had new batteries on as I thought it was this. My stop start cuts out at traffic lights as it should but then will not re start my van. It will try to start it then a message comes up saying manual start required and I have to start it with the key. I have to manually turn the stop start off on the button on the dash to stop this happening as it is very annoying… any help with this?

That sounds very frustrating, the vehicle would definitely need to be looked at and probably plugged into a diagnostic bit of kit, if you are local to us we would be happy to help.
You need to reset your battery! Here is the steps:
Turn ignition on but not turn the engine on! Than press 5x the rear fog light button . Than press 3x the hazard light button. Now just keep your eyes on the dashboard on the battery sign after a few seconds it should flashing 3x. That's it! Stop start will work like new! If it's flash less then 3x than repeat this steps until it flash 3x! Your welcome!

The best course of action would be to book it in with your local Ford Service Centre and for them to run a diagnostics check. That way they will be able to see if the battery is the problem or if there is something else causing the issue.

Start stop is dangerous and should be banned. I didn't realise my engine was off and went to pull out at a busy roundabout. The slight delay nearly caused an accident

end of battery lead live, there should be a small fuse box take that fuse out thats it job done..

Don't want this feature. I wouldn't be calling to complain! It's useless and creates much wear and tear on the engine and parts!
A lot of people don't like this. This will cause more environmental damage by worn out equipment and more expensive repairs. Stop all this over complication of our mode of transport!!!!
