Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

Well....I want to tell you a little story; I am 72, retired, born in the USA, but living in the mountains of Brazil. You two have inspired me with your perseverance and cool energy so much that I have decided to try building my own little house here. My friend Silvia and I have just rented a house for two years and are going to use the time to save up some money and buy some land near here. (Nova Friburgo). It will be difficult since we are old(er) lol, but we expect you guys to come and help (I KNOW your Portuguese is getting better, right? hehe). All joking aside...I have loved watching your videos and you really have inspired me. What a great couple you make! Abracos!!!! And do come and visit!

To be honest, to hear Bee laughing again thrills me to pieces. It makes my day. So glad you came home before anymore water got into the house so you could get cracken on that repair. Won't be long now till you're settled in for Christmas. I'm as excited as you are. Good job Theo, good filming Bee.

You know Theo, on a home rehab, the house pretty much dictates your schedule for the ‘needs to be done projects’. So, you are right to do the outside pointing before the inside pointing. Although you would like the inside done quicker, before you move in, the inside looks beautiful even without the pointing. You can still move before you point the inside. But the outside will definitely give you issues on the inside if not completed. You are an artist at the pointing. So glad you are back Bea. Cheers from New Jersey, USA.

Get some tanks were your water drain in from the gutters. We live in the city and have two very big JoJo tanks were the gutter pipes run in on both side's of the house. We use the water for the gardens and other things to wash off out side. It fills up very quickly with one rain fall and makes a good use of wasted water though. Love guy's from South Africa, Cape Town area🤗💕

My maternal grandparents just had a cistern that was roof water I believe? Not sure how many gallons it was, but it was to the roof, and probably 10 foot in circumference? We did get extra water in town in the summer when all the grandkids were there. So yes, they probably could get enough with rain water!

Theo is the “Pointing Picasso” ! I was watching and thinking you should do your barn/workshop out of wood, and use the Japanese method of burning the wood to preserve it , it’s called shou sugi ban . Also Theo reminds me of my dad, he was a man of all trades and everything he built or repaired lasted a very long time. In 1950 Dad built our home by himself from wood in Cuba. I have pictures that show the home is still standing with no rot or damage to the wood, it’s still solid as the day it was built! Dad used burnt oil from a refinery to coat all the wood used in the house. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.

That’s very interesting and both clever and innovative of your father. Nowadays that wouldn’t be permitted in the US at least because the oil (especially burnt) has been proven to be a carcinogen. I’m glad your family survived it.

@@kathrynwitte3398 lol; we have survived it! No cancer for any of the six of us , we are in our 60’s and parents are now in their late 80’s . I wouldn’t suggest using that method now a days anyway, I think shou sugi ban is a better alternative 😀

You are such a perfectionist, Theo! And that’s what will ensure that the house you’re creating will be both a cozy home and a work of art! I so look forward to this time I spend with you two! Thank you so much for sharing your lives with us!

A rub-R spray coating below grade prior to the French drain would seal the wall well so it will not leak. A gutter to a water catchment would kill 2 birds with one stone as well. Love watching you guys. So glad to see you Beautiful.

You've earned the cool soak & time to relax in a place away from the chores. Its difficult to relax when you are looking at your "to do" list in every direction. When the water gets too cold then perhaps youll take walks together or choose a place to sit where what you see is not anxiety inducing. The pointing is stunning and really does take the look from abandoned barn to lovely cottage. Getting the rain gutters & french drain in will protect it further.

A great instructional pointing tutorial; seems like your fabulous mentor Nick has taught you lots about finer "points". Love both of you guys' positive attitudes that inspires all of us..a tip on your raised beds: the western sun is really hot so you should maybe place some of your beds in the shadow of trees to get some afternoon shade for very tender veggies.

Theo . . . You are a Pointing Pro! Beautiful work. It is wonderful to see the project coming together. And SO lovely to see Bea working along side you. I know you will set up a system to save the rainwater that comes off the roof when you install gutters. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

    What a great recycling place!
It looks like the roof is very short at the back. It should hang out at least another row of tiles... and yes, gutters will really make a difference. We haven't had the kind of rain that used to happen so be prepared for amazing weeks of heavy rain! Even if it never comes it's best to be prepared.
It's great how you are both learning so much as you go along!

Theo, you’re becoming a master mason- you could always make a living as a mason, eh? Kidding. I’m sure when the pointing is completed you’ll never want to mix another load of concrete as long as you live! I wish we could time travel to December when you move in and your home is complete. It’s so lovely to see Bee smile and hear her laugh again. Love from Texas to both of y’all!

So glad to see you pointing the outside at last, the sooner you fit guttering & downpipes to some water storage containers the better to stop it potentially damaging walls & soaking into the ground close to the house. It's also free watering for the raised beds!

Well first of all I would like to comment that I find myself smiling when bee is smiling, so I figure her smile makes me smile . It's so nice to see the two of you, that you have true love! it's very rare, very special I like to call it magical! makes you smile with your heart! The two of you definitely have that special something that makes life better. You could see in your smiles and hear it in your voices I guess you could say attitude for Life overall. Thank you for sharing another great video. I can not wait to see your work of art. Like another comment said "you are the Picasso of pointing" and I most definitely agree.😊 sending you best Wishes always from Redondo Beach California USA

Be sure your garden space gets enough sunlight and orient the beds for maximum sun exposure. Good luck with it! It’s my 3rd year gardening in just six 4x8’ raised beds and I’m currently making 5 pints of ketchup and 5 pints of BBQ sauce from 25 pounds of homegrown tomatoes! It’s been so fun to garden!

I just discovered Giant Puffball Mushrooms behind my friend's apartment complex in far northern IL, US. They were only a mile or so from Lake Michigan. The largest was at least 16in. across. I didn't find out that I could eat them until a few months later. Next year I'll try cooking one!!
Glad to see you both back on your property!! Just found you about a month ago and have binge watched everything!! Great videos, really enjoying them!! Take care and stay well!!

I grew up in a stone farm house. More comfortable year round and once done very low maintenence. More secure, stronger, and certainly more beautiful. Worth the effort I think.
