I agree with the other comment. Canadian Airlines took delivery of its first 747-400 in 1990 (C-GMWW) and also Toronto Terminal 3 is visible as well (opened in 1991). This video dates from at least 1991. This brings back a lot of fond memories of flying CP.

Use to be a frequent passenger when I was a kid, especially of the Canadian North division, courtesy of my father who was a Flight Service Specialist for Transport Canada at the time in Kuujjuaq.
Still remember the stellar service they were giving, and still have a blanket that was gifted to me by one of their staff, I miss them dearly.
No plan on forgetting them ever, and when I fly in Microsoft Flight Simulator in VATSIM, I usually either fly under Canadian or Inter-Canadien banner depending on the plane I fly :)

This video was sent to me by Rob, a long time friend & co-worker in the airlines industry.
I´m one of the male flight attendants serving meals in the video. If the dates are right I was 30 years old at the time.
I remember the man who shot the video footage asking the cabin crew if it we were okay with him taking video of us before we took off that day.
Canadian Airlines was made up of a group of people brought together through acquisitions & mergers of various other Canadian carriers. It was a great airline.
This video is a highlight in my aviation memory book.
Thank you Mr. Kreimes for posting & sharing the video. I do remember the day ... some 30 years later !! Bruce ✈️

Oh bless that’s so cool. I only got to fly Nationair out of Manchester to Toronto in 91 as a young child, but they did a service to MAN during some days, Wardair flew into Leeds With 747 once a week to YYZ until 89, but Nationair seemed to be cheaper in those days. The meals were also amazing but started to be less quality and quantity to what you get today, for sure. Even the hot meal plate was porcelain in economy flying on the schedule carriers until mid 90s, except for a few that also stopped since. Real cutlery was always standard too.

    • @Rookie_One
      @Rookie_One Před rokem

@@semmes5342 They were too forward thinking...they put a lot on what would be a big money maker before everyone else did : trips to south-east asia.
Past the mid 2000s, these destination would become extremely popular for tourism, but the downturn that happened there in the late 90s, when Canadian invested in these routes, combined with the pounding they were taking from Westjet in the domestic market, meant that they could not last....had they managed to keep afloat for a few more years, they would probably still be there, but time was the one thing they did not have.
But service-wise, they were above Air Canada. And yes, their service was stellar IMO (that said due to my father work as an FSS up north, we had family friends working for them, so I will admit that I am biased on that subject)

Air Canada has gotten billions in handouts and for several decades the government made it illegal to compete with Air Canada. 2 kids flying paper airplanes could run a better airline if they got the same treatment that Air Canada did.

They say “Find a job that you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life!”

and the memories that this career afforded me.

This video CANNOT be from 1985 because the 747-400 is visible a few times during the video and the latter didn't fly for commercial airlines until around 1988-89.

I remember around in June 1991 see so many Hong Kong people are taking Canadian Airlines flight from Hong Kong-Vancouver-Toronto & then from Toronto-Vancouver-Hong Kong but Canadian does not fly into Singapore. But now Air Canada buys the whole market of Canadian Airlines & changed to its name only "AIR CANADA".
