Don't know if y'all mention this but it was recorded live at Abbey Road studios. This album is so dynamically rich, very soft passages and explosive highs.

Every song on The Seldom Seen Kid is a masterpiece. It is an album that everyone should own ... and revere. People argue that they are better live than in the studio. Imho, they are supreme in all environments.

Elbows music is pretty varied, not every song works for me but when they do it can be a true thing of beauty. Their lyrics can be just as beautiful as well and paint a picture.
Great Expectations, Lippy Kids, Switching off and Scattered black and whites are utterly beautiful
McGreggor is one of the darkest and creepiest songs i've heard, certainly from an indie band, and i love it.
Grounds for divorce, Real Life(angel), Any day now (debut album, track one), and recently Lovers Leap are all pretty great indie tracks. I don't know hard to categorize sometimes. Anyway, whether on the channel or in your own time, it's well worth checking out more from Elbow and the suggestions in the posts from other commenters are great suggestions too.

Id suggest fallen Angel or Station approach, I first saw Elbow supporting Muse in the early naughties, came away very impressed and have followed them since then.
Already was an Elbow fan, but caught the Cardiff leg of that tour. Cracking show.
Wow, wish i'd caught that. I've never seen elbow live and they don't come to the US much, wish i'd done that before I moved.
Muse let them have quite a good setup and i came away thinking thet were great but who are Elbow? I bought their album the next day. I think that's a great advert for music, giving other bands a leg up, Muse were still establishing themselves then.

I wish i was a friend of the band - the songs they sing about friendship are so heartfelt. I love Dear Friends as well, but this comes across in others like Some riot and Real life(angel) as well.
There are moments when you guys act surprised, I get it, and moments you can tell you actually take a moment to appreciate something.
The first 3 Elbow albums are really good and their fourth album is a masterpiece that could be up there are one of the greatest albums of all time. After that it seems like they're just trying to hit the magic of their 4th album and failing short, like they are releasing failed demos from their fourth album.
Such an incredible band, yet only 1.5k views in 3 weeks?!
