James Horner was the one who made me fall in love with background scores as a kid. Then comes Hans Zimmer… but Mr. Horner would always be my favourite before Mr. Zimmer
    REST IN PEACE MASTER❤️🙌🏻

RIP James Horner. He was an excellent composer. He did the soundtrack to one of my favorite movies Star Trek 2, the wrath of Kahn. But he’s probably best known for his Oscar winning soundtrack for the movie Titanic.

Well being nominated for 8 more, isn't shabby either. Don't forget he made the soundtrack for the worldwide most selling movie to this day, Avatar :P

My Son is getting married later this month. The venue is a beautiful, rustic homestead in the hills. They plan to play this as the guests wait for the ceremony. I know I am going to need a pocket full of tissues.

The marching band I was in back in high school did the music to Braveheart for our show during junior year. Hands down one of my favorite soundtracks of all time. The melodies are haunting and really fit the mood of the movie.

it goes very well in the scene in Braveheart which is the boy William Wallace being given a gift of a thistle from his childhood sweetheart at the funeral of his father. Makes the piece of music even more powerful.

For me, A Gift of a Thistle, speaks about The Highland Clearances of the Highlands of Scotland. When Highlanders were forced off the lands with their only choice being a new life, mainly to Canada and the USA, with no possession's. The Highlanders tenacity and courage the gift to those emerging nations, in the late 1700's to early 1800's. Full of sadness and yearning for their Highland home.

My half uncles family came from the highlands in Scotland in the 1700s to the states. My family came from Wales where they lived in the Picton castle in the 1600s. Ive always wanted to go visit both places to pay tribute to where my ancestors came from. Both came from places where they had 0 freedom from the english and were treated incredibly poorly. They then went on to form a country that would rebel from and defeat them to become the most free nation on earth.

About the only thing that was historically accurate about the Braveheart movie was the fact that William Wallace fought for Scottish independence. But the casting of Mel Gibson as Wallace was ludicrous, since the real life Wallace at 6ft 7in was well over a foot taller than Mel Gibson. The depiction of Wallace as a Highlander dressed in a belted plaid is inaccurate since Wallace was a Lowland Scot born in North Ayrshire. The Renfrewshire town, Elderslie near Paisley, is mistakenly held to be the birthplace, but Wallace was born in a place called Ellerslie, near Kilmarnock in Ayrshire. Not only was Wallace, not a Highlander, he was a commoner, not a noble, like Bruce and Baliol. He became a knight when he was appointed Guardian of Scotland after the victory at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297. The depiction of this battle in the movie is completely wrong. Stirling Bridge was NOT a mass charge across open ground by English heavy cavalry as shown in the film; it was actually fought over a wooden bridge spanning the River Forth and the English cavalry ended up being driven into the river by Scottish pikemen before they could form up properly. The other liberty taken with history by Hollywood is the fanciful notion that Wallace had sexual relations with the Princess of Wales in a rustic cottage in the middle of a remote forest. Let's face reality, please! If Wallace had gone anywhere near a member of the English Royal Court, he would have been taken prisoner by the Royal Bodyguard before he'd managed to get his kecks down and thrown into the Bloody Tower in irons.
