When a Knight Won His Spurs takes me back to middle school assemblies, the whole school together to start the day off with a song and bit of wisdom from the head teacher, great, great days.
I was delighted to discover that the music for these songs could be purchased from Martin Simpson's website. The alternative tuning he uses is CGCGCD for 'Never any Good' and CGCFCD for Kit's Tune/Knight won his Spurs. I could never have worked out these tunes by ear even with knowledge of the alternative tuning, so thanks Martin, for making your music avalable to mere mortals. It would take a lifetime of practice to play these tunes with his finesse, but its great to try!
LOL inndeed ! Happy to have been of use wesmatron! Really do suggest you get the music from Martin Simpson's website .You can download PDF's for a small fee. Its still not easy, but having listened to some of your other posts I'm sure you will manage!

One of the greats. when all you can do is turn to one mans song you know its something special.
Songs that touch me to the core. When a Knight Won His Spurs was my favourite hymn at school...thanks to Mr. Hardman.
Please listen to the power of the songs and forget the bloody tuning, when there's a genius in your midst lay back and APPRECIATE.
wish I could sing so eloquently about my treasured father or have my lovely gurlz do so for theirs'!!!
Whatever the key, whatever the chords, this is a beautiful song.
awesome, inspiring stuff!
I'm not really a fan of this type of music, but I really like Martin Simpson, amazing guitarist.
That's incredibly kind of you. I'll check out that pdf and give it a go. Again, warmest thanks.
