Highway 61 is a Mississippi Fred McDowell song, and MS is playing Mississippi's version. And then Dylan. How insane! I'm a fan of both and had previously pondered the question of the connection between these two. MS has the answer. I just discovered the 1996 MS recording of this a few weeks ago and added this, Spoonful, and two MS Kambara Music to my library, which is heavy on guitar. My first exposure to MS. Outstanding guitar and music insight.

He is one of the true guitar greats of the last century, and has few peers when it comes to acoustic guitar -- slide, finger-picking, whatever. Plus, he is an intense student of traditional and Americana music. He is a treasure, a wonder, a marvel. I've seen him twice in concert, and each show was one of those musical treasures you remember your whole life. See him if you can; buy his albums! We are graced by his presence and artistry.

Sorry don't agree, he's slow laborious and over rated.

I've had the pleasure and rare privilege of taking classes with Martin at Richard Thompson's Frets & Refrains acoustic guitar and songwriting camp in upstate NY the past four summers. He is indeed a treasure, incandescent brilliance in every note. Highly recommend this camping experience!

Give you an idea of the staure of this guy, he came to a small folk club in Northampton England & delivered a magnificent performance. Unfortunately one guy had a heart attack (the music was that good), but carried on after the interruption. He takes the time to get his guitar EXACTLY in tune, all part of a top class act.

I saw martin live this year in Brighton and this video doesnt give him the slightest bit of credit for his brilliant playing. I'm 14 and I met Martin straight up during an intermission in a room 6 meters by about 3 in a small pub. Such a great bloke. Its a shame that being a folkie he's lucky to make 500 a gig but I'd still rather live his life than a bigtime poser we get nowadays
