I was there great concert it was their last tour of the UK. Saw his last English gig of that tour in York. Miss seeing him and in particular john have to put up with live posts on You Tube, the DVD and live recordings from folk clubs that I have.

I’m 21 and didn’t know many Eric songs at all until last week. Me and my cousin took my Nan to a concert and to say I was blown away was an understatement. I have listened to nearly every Eric Bogle album since then, and just hearing Eric talk about John makes my heart break watching videos like this. Eric is a legend

A brilliant songwriter/ singer. Saw him many times live. Once, in Euroa, l took my two girls to listen to this guy, and they were mesmerized. Definitely one of the best songwriters. Keep on going, Eric.

I remember watching this on BBC folk proms hard to believe it was 15 years ago

i always remember reading a letter that my Gran sent to my dad, he had moved us to Auustralia, she wrote " i guess I will never see you again my Billy Boy" that has haunted me since I was about 10.. I am 62 and it still makes me cry.. II couldnt imagine never seeing my kids again

Never knew till this week that Nancy was my grandmother's friend. I shared a photo asking if anyone could tell me who the other person was. They came from the same area, and both moved to Peebles. I remember my Nan looking out her window and exclaiming Eric's home! I had no idea who Eric was. It would have been mid 70s. Eric now has a copy of the photograph, and everything makes sense. ❤

I am a Scottish brewer and I have to admit to having brewed Australian beer (a long time ago) under licence. At that time I was designated a grade A taster - allowed to release beer for packaging on my own. I moved on from there and in the following years helped two different British brewers (one in England and one in Scotland) to win gold medals for lager in international competition so maybe I did learn something from the Aussies...

I'm surprised how few people seem to know about this brilliantly funny poet. I suppose poetry recitation is not very mainstream anymore, which is sad. His works and delivery are both clever and entertaining. Fine work, sir!

I first heard Bernard when he performed with the Horton Weavers at the Oldham Coliseum Theatre, which has sadly closed. He is a very funny man and is from Bolton (*That's Notlob, if you're backwards!"). He was very funny in "The Dinner Ladies" on BBC One.
