There's no such thing as "born evil." We are all born with vulnerabilities, whether those are genetic predispositions, neurodivergence, poverty, poor fetal development due to health and exposures in utero, etc. Babies develop personality and psychological response systems through environmental input - their caretaker. Their literal brains, synopses, are structured by their experiences in infancy, early childhood and through their "impressionable years" so that when you meet someone, a child, with behavioral problems, more times than not, that child did not have their needs met through those important stages of their development. Calling them inherently or innately "evil" is a very wrong way to respond to children who have been failed.

@@jessea.3883 my objection is largely the moral implications of the term "evil." It dismisses our responsibility as a society to protect children from the manifestations of poverty and to try to help vulnerable children to work within their ability, to feel loved and welcomed and to be proud of whatever contributions they provide. It's about identity and self-perception. "You're just evil" vs "let's work with these limitations and improve all of our lives."

You guys should watch the entirety of Jerods reality show. Each episode is different and speaks of different aspects of his life. Like the episode with his father…….
-They were on a road-trip to South Carolina Jerod and his fathers birth place.
-His father cheated on his mother and created another family of 4, and said nothing.
-jerod and his sibling (his fathers second family) went to school together and didn’t even know about eachother.
-Jerods childhood bestfriend told him that his father was cheating, because he saw him at his aunties house.
-As young adults jerod and his siblings made their father confess to their mother about his infidelity and they stayed married.
Now in present time Jerod came out as gay. He financially supports his parents and they don’t really speak to him. The entire episode is interesting. Should Jerod have “cornered” his father and “exploit family secret”? Probably not, but this is his show and he wants to give the “raw” truth. I think his comedy and show is “healing” to him, it’s his way of speaking his “unadulterated” truth. Does the show show him in the best light? Most definitely not, but this is the portrayal of him that he his happy with the world seeing.

"How can I be the mean girl when it's your set? You can just fire me."
    *No* logic in that sentence.
Chevy Chase was a dick on Community and he didn't own it. You can absolutely be a mean cast member on set.
And sure, she CAN just fire you, but how does that look to the higher-ups? Switching cast members mid/between-seasons? The fans will talk, rumors spread. Instability is bad for business. Is that a good look for Issa? Does Issa want to rock the boat that hard? There's a big gap in this story, and it's "what type of things was Amanda saying to get people to call her a mean girl on set in the first place?"
Depending on what was said, maayyybe you can chalk it up to Autism, but just rattling off a history of times people were mean to you as a kid doesn't excuse any mean shit you do as an adult.
That being said, Issa thinking of Amanda as the character Issa wrote is wild.

Chevy Chase is a white man, let's not pretend like that doesn't dictate how much people will allow him to get away with versus what they would allow from someone like Amanda. Even her simply being a woman means society expects her to always be agreeable and in a pleasant mood, or be deemed a diva or difficult.Meanwhile, we let men get away with anything and say "ohh boys will be boys" 😑

On a serious note, I watched the interview and thought to myself that I’m sure there’s validity in what she’s experienced with people. One major theme I’ve picked up on with her is that she’s very intelligent and aware of the world, but she lacks self awareness-big time. Something I believe that people struggle with is being able to hold two truths at once. Most of us are extremely complicated, but are also reluctant to see others as complex and nuanced individuals. That said, Amanda is an example of what a lack of self awareness looks like. She has rehearsed a narrative about how she is perceived so much that she looks for instances to affirm that narrative. I am inclined to provide grace, however, because I would imagine that she arrived at that station because she is misunderstood.

But like saying "everything's not black and white" yall that's literally in the dsm5 criteria for autism 😂 And that's not to say binary thinking is always useful, but it can be extremely necessary defense mechanism when you've experienced alienation from people for just being yourself. It's important as an autistic person to be able to completely disengage from someone when you understand that they just don't like you lmao. Like Shannon got defensive Amanda because he put her defense up. I think people don’t like Amanda because she’s right most of the time and not humble about it. (I’m not saying she should be). People don’t like being around a person who always has the answers. A very broad oversimplification of this is sending memes to a friend who has already seen them and also saw the original context and then proceeds to explain it all to you. You can’t have that spontaneous moment of discovery or hilarity with a person who has already been there and done that. The only way around this when you’re highly intelligent and well read is limiting your interactions to people who are much smarter than you, or just learning that not everything needs to be said all the time and sometimes social politeness requires you to minimize yourself to allow other people to be able to take up space. Because what was she wrong about? People are literally disagreeing with her personal experiences that they weren’t a witness to and disagreeing with her feelings/perception.

      >"I think people don’t like Amanda because she’s right most of the time and not humble about it. "
I think people are picking up on her narcissistic traits. 1) She frequently said to be difficult to work with by practically all of her coworkers, but never says she's plays a role in why 2) She self-aggrandizes regularly throughout the interview (and elsewhere), and the reason she basically gives for why people don't like her is because of her positive traits (e.g. I'm always right) and their low self esteem.
What seems more likely that from school to 42 years old, in practically every single environment she's in multiple people strongly dislike her because they have low self esteem or "she's always right", or she has a toxic personality and lacks self awareness?
Josh and Eddy diplomatically discuss that perhaps she's engaging in rationalization.

Now, I don't claim to be as intelligent as Amanda Seals lol. However, I've always been a smart girl, and my super power has always been logical and critical thinking. I am an analytical person and I also stand for what is right. I've been known to be a good friend who doesn't do things to ppl I wouldn't want done to me. I'm also, unfortunately, usually right a lot of times. The younger me was more direct and "militant" about my opinions. Now, these things about myself, I know to be my "quirks" that can annoy people. We all have traits that are not "likeable" and those are mine. Even still, at the same time, I am extremely empathetic, and my intuition is strong. I am an extroverted person that is generally well liked...always. Being a young self-righteous vocal person never left me in a position where folk just didn't get me. Though, I have had some levels of issues with "insecure" ppl. I can recognize a few things I have in common with Amanda. Asside from not being g as smart or artistically dynamic as she is, the biggest difference that we have that makes me instantly likeable and seems to make her instantly unlikeable is that she seems to lack emotional intellect... the ability to read the room and the ability to not take up all the space in the room. She said she feels she has to make herself "small" in order to be liked by others. That's a problem. Because that is her reality but the TRUE reality is that she may treat the room like they aren't as smart as she is and because she is so smart, she can't leave room for the thoughts and opinions of others. She is also very wordy and it leads me to believe that she doesn't often sit back to allow others to shine. She accepts no responsibility for her part in any situation...sometimes we are pure victims for sure but most situations, even when we are a victim, we have a part we play. When we are able to recognize those things we are better equipped for future similar situations... anyhow...im going on and on, but all of this to say that she strikes me as problematic for many reasons. (Excuse typos)

Does it mean she always doing things people don't like? Not at all. It's the classic case of you effed up in said area and now everything you did gets scrutinized with a side eye. #NoDiddy🌝

As a dad, it’s probably not a good thing to have the real conversation with your kid. I’m not gone tell you your mama said she was on birth control or that I gave her money for an abortion and she said f me. She came up to my job acting crazy trying to get me fired. Mad things could have happened and the child will only know the mom’s POV. It’s so many dynamics in relationships and I’m not sure it makes sense to fully explain your perspective to a child, even after they are an adult. Everybody does things for a reason, good or not.
