We’ve been talking about how nobody will be talking about the control verse for 11yrs now
Yeah, we ain’t talking about the actual verse but if it even had any REAL impact… and no substantial beefs or real change happened since that verse besides people in that list falling off.
This verse was no where near control verse.
lol
The no audio vibing to Kendrick was the asmr experience I was not expecting lol
Like that is a club record…. The beat itself is nasty. Metro went crazy with the beat.
The fact that this diss is part of a hyped up kind of track on someone's album and it's referencing the other 2 of a Big 3 that's mostly about a song that's #1 billboard....
At the same time I get it it could be an annoying song on the flip side of things. Sounds like police sirens
J. Cole being a better rapper than kendrick is a very crackhead take.
No not necessarily. 20 years ago I would agree. Competitive rapping just ain't what it was anymore. Narcissism has really muddied the waters of beefing in Rap. But, personally I don't believe there's a superior emcee to Kendrick among his peers and younger.
A rare Alvin L take on Like That
Big L
@@stanleyc2978bruh😂
Alvin coming in with the craziest take on Kendrick and the Like That verse 😂😂😂
Alvin's the stubborn support post that keeps this podcast up
The contrarian in Alvin was working overtime. It took me a few seconds to remember how the control verse started.
Control was crazy and like that isn’t even as good as control
I was just saying that Alvin only gets animated talking sports & hip-hop. But today, today he chose violence 😅😂🤣
Did dude in glasses say Drake makes the same music, the same Drake who hasn't had a good project since "If you're reading this it's too late". Come on
King Kunta could definitely play as a club record...
In white clubs 🤣
The sad part of the Tyler and Jerrod situation is that they both could've been more mature about the situation. The part that they left in the pod was the beginning where Tyler's first words after the confession was "You stupid bitch". He clearly wasn't as sensitive on the subject as he should have been even though that kinda response would've been on brand for him. Jerrod got that rejection and saw Tyler started to ghost him after and instead of reaching to speak one on one, he creates a situation where they're having a sensitive convo in front of a room full of people and its all being recorded to show to millions later. If I were Tyler I would've felt cornered and that my only way out was to undo the rejection. I know this segment is a part of a larger documentary, but if this needed to be in the doc or if this conversation was important, it could have been done in a more neutral way. I know Jerrod probably felt like he needed to take drastic measures cause he probably thought Tyler wanted nothing to do with him anymore, but that conversation again belongs between two people.
The fact that Josh or Alvin didn’t bring up Three 6 mafia as the sample that metro used is disappointing
I was waiting 😭 or at least credit Barry White for the og sample
I just shook my head.
That's an easy e sample though, yeah? Three 6 took it from him.
@@shettywap it was more than one sample involved. But yes easy e sample was used as well
That beat is more famously from the song, everlasting Bass
Can’t lie, Alvin’s take on like that was fucking horrible. This gotta be an age thing. Put me on the show I need to tell him sumn
😹😹😆
The only thing that really annoys me about Alvin is that he's stubborn and believes his world view is the only world view. Like if he hasn't experienced it or has no knowledge of it then it isn't real lol
Dude smokin that chronic. Str8 said flyin dutchmen ass beat lol.
Kendrick said i hope the bring 3 switches, bruh what !!?!.
For all the dogs getting buried that’s a K with all these 9s they go see a pet cemetery!!!!.
WHAT?????????? THE BEAT IS FIRE!!!!!! WHAT IS HE TALKING ABOUT???
Can't lie went to NY went to packed club and they played like that and niggas was rapping along
Alvin…this take on Like that was so bad. This track and album is going to go insane ALL summer
I respect Alvin but between him and FD I'm starting to think we need to put an expiration date on our hip hop opinions.
I barely clubbed, and I still remember the club turning up when Humble came on.
Alvin is bugging
You guys should’ve prolly took a second to look up where the Jerrod clip comes from lol. It’s from his reality tv show exploring his life and relationships with his family and friends after coming out. As far as I know that scene was totally real, Jerrod also confronts his parents on camera regarding their feelings towards his sexuality, so nothing seems to be off the table 😅.
Alvin was being pompous as hell about the Kendrick verse
Money Trees used to go off in the club around here, haha! But yeah, Kendrick def not the typa artist to be makin’ that kinda stuff
J Cole is my man’s but a better rapper than Kendrick is not it lmaoo
Cole been the best of the 3 at pure rapping for yrs.He bodied everything for like 5 yrs.
@@Loch1210i mean thass really the argument. not that kendrick can’t rap like that if he wanted to but as much as cole likes to talk about nas kdot is better at being that. cole is actually jay lmao
@@qosujinn5345 Nah Cole isn’t as focused on commercial hits like Jay.
@@Loch1210 i wouldn’t say jay was either but i’d say jay would prolly be better at “pure rapping” in the comparison.
@@qosujinn5345 not compared to Nas
This was the flash back episode. The jerri curls are crackin me up
Great episode, love the Jaden and Willow segment, they’re actually talented 😩 And Malcolm in the middle has aged sooooo well I watched it again as an recently and it’s defo in my top 10 sitcoms of all time
I’m surprised y’all didn’t mention there being two very recent examples of two rappers trading bars: Megan and Nicki lol
The a moment arrgoment question is so stupid. I can't name any rap lyric in the middle of a conversation. But the point
Is we're still talking about it. So it doesn't really make a difference. What was specifically said and we know what the message was.
Tha lesson of this episode is a person (Alvin) can be incredibly intelligent and still sound like a dumbass on tha wrong subject (music)
Ether isn't lyrical miracle is some crazy shit to say, maybe you should run that hook back a couple times bruh lmao
For tha record I agree with him about that Kendrick verse but his argument for it was not good
G FUNK IN 85?? GET THIS MAN BACK ON ECONOMICS HE DON'T KNOW HIP HOP BREH
Indo-European is still White. Western ideology has really made these n*ggas goofy🤣
17:00 Poetic Justice was played pretty heavily at parties at the time
Swimming pools and poetic justice had the 18-34 demographic on lock
Whoa, Alvin went full Alex Jones here. lol
16:10 - 16:35
Did he just say Kendrick is on some Batman timing? That's hilarious
All good takes. In the Jarrod and Tyler situation I think that if you care about your friend you honestly you shouldn’t be concerned about who should do what instead you just take a step back and do whatever you can (within reason) to make them feel better
- Speaking of sliding on Ninja's
- Josh ASMR
49:53 not Eddie with the Erykah Badu reference! 😭
He said control verse wasn’t that good 6/10 lmaooo
He said "like that" is 6/10 and "control" was significantly worse
Al is smoking his socks on that Kendrick take😂
eddys hair makes it look like those cuts to the old episodes are throwback skits to the 80s like they used to do in the movies
💀 now I can’t unsee it
Kendrick was a battle rapper. Brody doesnt know what hes taling about. "West coast beats are tired"?? How?
West coast has some of the most diverse sounds, none of the artist from TDE sound the same, Larry june or Vince staples sound nothing alike.
Thank you @Eddie for shouting out Tanner Adell MONTHS ago (either on his own Twitter or the podcast’s) and getting me listening to her 💜💜💜
Can y'all review and reflect on the hairstyles from episode 101?
32:44 Agree with both viewpoints of Alvin & Eddy.
46:52 In the nicest way possible, what is going on with Alvin's hair? I'm not saying he was preparing for a Vegeta as a uncle on the bbq grill cosplay, but... I just wanna say he's glowed up significantly.
The thing that is always funny to me when it comes to conspiracy theories like this... If "They" were trying to protect "Some Rich People"... "They" could just call Diddy and go, "Delete the album". "They" could just sneak into Diddy's house and delete the album. It is also weird when people try to say that "They" and the FBI are the same group. To Alvin's point, if "They" are trying to protect whomever... and "They" ARE the FBI, why would "They" do the LOUDEST activity that *Sparks these types of conversations*? Like, why do y'all think that there is a secretive "They" that don't know how to be secretive, and love leaving little hints on some "tee hee, we evil" tip. Like, why do y'all think that?
Tried to order but no delivery to the UK London
Can you DM us with an image of the error you get?
The song is literally number 1 in the country rn lol I get not being the biggest kdot fan but to say mfs is still saying “is that a world tour or your girl’s tour” 🙂 that’s cap & back 2 back is a cool diss track this song is 2x better
The kid cudi disstrack bit got me
Tracy Chapman is acoustic rock
Indie/College/Alternative actually.
The smart version of Beavis and Butthead, as a show, would probably be South Park.
As a character duo, I don't know.
Buddy said the west coast sounds the same is a reach of a lifetime
He listened to
Kendrick
Tyler
Schoolboy q
Ab soul
Earl
Larry june
Vince staples and said they all sound the same
N*gga trippin'. Plus, completely overlooked the Bay. Kendrick doesn't even ride the coattails of G-funk. Pretty much no new n*ggas from LA got anything remotely close to the classic G-funk sound.
Y’all (especially Eddie and Alvin) should check out Yola’s album Starlight. Yola’s got 6 grammy noms, both her albums are pretty critically acclaimed. I think that particular album serves as a great entry point for non-country music consumers even tho it can be classed as alt-country
Chapman is also definitely country but definitely has elements of folk and blues but all w/in the same family.
"White with a wind chill factor"😂 I'm dead.
Okay, then why she ain't got talent privilege tho?🤔
Really want to know what happened.... maybe there will be a documentary in 10 years
nah homie is drunk that song is dope af
13:16 im ngl i heard it and immediately it reminding me of that cbat thing so every time i hear it its colored with that context and makes it a little more unserious for me😭😭
Kid Cudi diss track is a thing I never knew I needed
The actor in the myrstery of the majical ninjas made another film with Sydney Sweeny - watch dat one deh
Alvin, What are "chemical" feelings of love? 🤣🤣😂😂 Sounds exactly like something Alvin would say. That love is just a chemical emotion.
It was a response and they didn’t speak highly of him by mentioning him then Cole saying he’s Ali and the sneak diss about everybody is steppas but everybody is breakfast
I don't know how back 2 back starts either. Most others don't either but they do walk in the room saying "is that world tour or your girl tour?". I do think the Kenny Metro verse is overhyped. But it is a banger. And I do walk in the room saying "FUCK THE BOG 3!"
Eddy’s take on Jerrod and Tyler was refreshing. I really hope that shit was fake or scripted. It was mad uncomfortable to watch having been on the receiving end multiple times. I appreciated Eddy calling it out as boundary-pushing. I didn’t mean to write an essay here, but these type of interactions defined my twenties. In my experience, when it’s truly not mutual, you can rarely save the friendship.
I don’t mean to lack empathy for the Jerrod side of this. I know how much it hurts when someone doesn’t want you back. I lost one of my best friends because he fell in love with me. I know I broke his heart when I said I saw him as a brother. I have to respect him for stepping away from the friendship because that’s what he needed to do.
But when it turns into this kind of boundary-pushing, it’s a wrap. Because they’ve stopped seeing you as a person. You’re trapped on this pedestal of their feelings now. You’re just a surface they’re projecting feelings onto. And that’s exhausting. And they always come back to doing it again.
I think the only difference between lust and love when it comes to unrequited feelings is whether the other person can get over it. If he just wants to hit, there’s a much better chance we can move forward. If he’s really got feelings, more than likely we’re losing the friendship no matter how I respond.
I don’t think Tyler’s response was kind, but I 100% agree that it was on-brand. I’ve been told I’m wrong for trying to be kind about it. So much of the time this turns into a no-win situation for the person on the receiving end. Truthfully there have been times when I’ve realized staying friends with someone who cannot manage their feelings really might be unkind. They won’t move on if I stay in this friendship trying to be chill and nice, and I will never return their feelings. I think what Alvin said is beautiful, but in my experience it typically does not work. When they’re pressing you like that, staying in the friendship almost always turns into resentment. And that’s how I ended up spending the early 2010s getting villainized for “friendzoning” mfs.
Am I the only one who started reciting the Control verse?
Alvin Wild on the metro and like that not being a hit.
I kinda agree with Alvin here… I can’t see Kendrick making club bangers and he’s an extreme lyricist but I can’t see him dropping a diss track that is also a crazy bop with quotables, that’s not ALSO a lyrical miracle thing only hiphop heads will pay attention to. Kendrick is amazing, and maybe he’s got it in him but idk
Well, I mean Kendrick doesn't have to make club bangers either. For what? He can get the same results of a club banger for every Alright, The Heart part(insert #), or DNA🌝
Jeez. One person can traffic other human beings. It's not in any way analogous to car traffic.
I'm glad Alvin knew he was gonna get shit about the Kendrick comments, BUT, I think it would be more interesting if yall had someone on who can actually talk about this and really hash out the why and the how.
I'd LOVE some 'elevated barber shop' talk about what makes a GOATED hip hop artist. That is something we don't get to see much at all these days. Especially if you're like me and dont fck with Joe Budden and the like.
Kendrick makes club record for women. Exactly who he should be doing it for
Im sorry but Cole is just not that impressive to me. He’s never given me something i cant find in another rapper. I will say i like his newer stuff way more than the early sruff
The way the club has turned up to Like That since the day it dropped and people are rapping the words too. Alvin, you’re out of touch with this take😂 There’s no way we’re gassing up “Is that a world tour or your girls tour?” but we are sleeping on “if he walk around with that stick, it ain’t Andre 3K”, “Niggas clicking/clique’n up” (referencing “I’m bout to click up in this shit, I’m bout to click” from Drake; and referencing the fact that there’s two rappers on the song he’s responding to), “For all your dogs getting buried, that’s a K with all these 9s/they gon see pet cemetery”. Kendrick barred him tf up 😂 We gotta be fr. And acting like Kendrick don’t stick is crazy.
ALVIN WHEN I CATCH YOU I SWEAR TO GOD
Lmfao did y’all forget that Jada was a successful musician before she met Will… her kids’ success seems honestly more due to her than anyone else
Nah the more I watch the more Alvin pissing me off
Tyler farted in self defence, like a skunk 🦨
Rick and Morty is smart Beavis and Butthead. SPOT ON
29:44 no he's not
Willow is a dope artist no shade to her, but i kinda agree with the point I’ve seen online about it makes sense for her and her brother to be talented. They have damn near infinite amount of resources.
He said J Cole is a better rapper than both of them, he is not seeing God bruh
It wasn’t the FBI. Your headline is wrong.
But but but officer you're wrong about this one😆
That Justin Bieber clip was kinda hard to watch, Jesus.
So, you wanna act different huh? LMAOOOOOO
Yooooo I had no clue Alvin was this big of a hater 🤣
Tracy Chapman makes folk music. Fuck is buddy on? Genres/sub genres exist for a reason.
Lmfaoooo. Edddy fixed his mouth to say that Kim K doesnt have white privilege. Heureusement qu'y avait la vidéo because what???!!! 😂
Tyler Childers is country. Indie folk is more like Fleet Foxes
Alvin what’s going on with the trash music takes… shit traumatized me
Isn't Miley Cyrus a nepo baby?
This gotta be the worst take on the Kendrick verse I’ve ever heard lol
I mean the whole thing just turned goofy really quick. Maybe beefing is just dead and it's time to move on🤣
Nah Alvin L
Alvin is out of touch when it comes to "Like That". Get out of the house.
👋🏽🚩
🛋️
Alvin just gave one of the worst musical takes I've ever heard in my life.
Alvin with one of the worst takes I’ve seen from him. Like that is most definitely a club banger. The beat is crazy and k dot went off.
The intro with Eddy’s theory makes more sense than anything I have heard in a month.
Kendrick is the most overrated rapper of our time. If he was from Virginia or Texas instead of repping an entire coast who's thirsty for hip hop relevance, he'd be a mid backpack rapper.
@13:15 I agree with Alvin. The Future and Kendrick best is absolute TRASH!!!! 🗑️
You wasn’t there to see what Lil Wayne did to that beat to make it iconic! the Barry White chords layered under it is😮💨
@@brethemjohnlou6489 I recognise the Barry White track in the beat.
no mathematically alvin make sense.
best by music releases
drake -1
kendrick -2
j.cole -3
best by rap ability
j.cole -1
kendrick -2
drake -3
they all have four points so it makes sense to group them together but i’m ngl if we add iconic-ness i’d say
drake -1
j.cole -2
kendrick -3
so drake technically would win out over all of them not for being the best necessarily but bc he’s “the goat” like weirdly enough he’s not ACTUALLY the greatest but the vibe is there idk. but it make sense for kendrick to diss him bc when you put it like that (if you even agree) id be like bruh he not even allat and his style and sound is so different from why tf yall comparing me to him
he do also lose points in my personally book for being a BAN like alvin said at the beginning so there’s that.
lmao best by rap ability is j cole? you are a sick mf
@@NatnaelSeifu-fj5fdn*ggas scared of the West bro. It's like when Kobe got that third ring and n*ggas was really talking extra spicy about the Lakers🌝
You people need to educate yourselves,
Human beings are apex predators and their only perceived threat is other Human beings, so humans prey on each other, nothing to do with colour or race,
My "enemies enemy is my friend" in a world full of enemies, what chance have the vulnerable ever had?
But why do people feel uncomfortable when someone admits feelings towards them?? And since when does discomfort excuse care and respect? That said, I believe the moment was manufactured. He knew how Tyler was going to respond but went through with it because it makes for good tv.
Are you guys going to ever talk about Mr and Mrs Smith
