I’m a mom and a pro chef - you did a fantastic job here. Feeding yourself with healthy foods and not breaking the bank is an important life skill, and for real, there are some weeks even I can’t keep up with the grind. It is shocking how much money you can save, but you don’t really feel it until you have the DoorDash weeks. Good for you!
He did a great job. I meal prep every week. I suggest not adding your condiments, mayo, or tomato to wraps until right before you want to eat them. The moisture will make things soggy. Also cook in batches if your pan isn’t large enough. Crowding will steam the food instead of allowing it to get a nice browning that adds flavor.
For the wraps/burritos, I would just prep all the ingredients, then wrap the burritos the day/night before I want to eat them. I like putting a lot of sauce in my burritos but the tortilla gets soggy if I leave the burrito in the fridge for more than a day before I eat it. That’s just my personal preference though, I can totally see why wrapping them all at once saves you time throughout the week.
Invest in a crockpot. For lunches I literally make myself a bag bacon ceaser salad, without their dressing instead I use cilantro avocado. Throw meat leftover on it, or Mediterranean chicken patty I cook in the pan. Then plan my dinners out with my crockpot. Just having the ingredients on hand relieves my stress, I can focus on my gains and feed my fam! 🎉
Great job!! Now that I have been meal prepping for a month, I have no taste or desire for fast food anymore. Tip: Toast the buffalo chicken wrap on both sides for a minute or two! Chef’s kiss🤌🏾
Yum!! Great job 🔥👏🏻 one thing I’d like to add, please don’t put hot food into plastic containers because it releases toxins into your food! You may opt for glass containers or wait until the food isn’t hot anymore to pack it! Good luck on your journey on eating healthier! You’re doing great 👍🏻
I noticed that too. But I'm guessing the food will then also be heated in the microwave in the plastic container itself, to save time and dishes. That's what I used to do in my ignorance.
instead of strawberries and pea chips you could do broccoli, asparagus, or even potatoes have fruit on the side and chips on the side it saves as the best snack when you need just a little something
For anyone wanting to do this but feeling overwhelmed, remember you have to do what makes YOUR life easier. Maybe prepping full meals in each container is not for you, maybe you're better off having separate items ready in the frige (like already cooked pasta/rice, boiled potatoes, prepped veggies, roasted chicken...). I like to prepare for three days on Sundays, so I generally only have to cook-cook once during the weekday. I roast chicken thighs for three dinners and prepare three portions of a meal to take to work.
Great job 👏 used to do a weekly menu and shop the ad's. Been cooking from scratch for 53 years now 😉 you'll find you enjoy your cooking more than going out 🙂
Ive always been curious what the last containers of the week look like because most of my food starts to sour after 4-5 days. Day 7 must be covered in fluff.
@@Dispatern you could just make frozen dinners. Option 1. Cook then freeze them. Option 2. Freeze then cook them (example prep * season your meat and veggies then put in aluminum container raw. Then throw them in the oven the day you want to cook them).
This is exactly what I used to do when I had to do a live in for 5 days or more . Whatever day I had off, I would prep meals to be on the ready for when I get called to do a live in at the last minute . Just snatch them out the freezer and go ! I wasn't as healthy though. 🤷♀️ 🤭
Dude those pea chips saved me from my hot Cheetos addiction fr. the white cheddar ones and the spicy ones goo even better than those chemical Cheetos too 💀
I couldn’t imagine having to eat reheated food most of the week. Deciding what I’m going to make, buying fresh ingredients and making fresh food daily is a huge part of my life. To each is own this sounds like a nightmare to me 🤣
As an autistic person with severe adhd, “deciding what I’m going to make, buying new ingredients everyday and making fresh food for every single meal” sounds like nightmare fuel to me personally 🥴 I get extremely decision fatigue from the simplest of questions. Sometimes asked me how I was feeling and I had to stop and think about it for 10 minutes before answering “I, I don’t know.” 💀
I agree with you 100%. Reheating food is so cringe worthy to me. 🤮 hate leftovers of any sort.. ima make a 1 meal type of chick, eat it and be done with it. Plus eating same thing possibly 5 straight days? No way..it has lost its appeal at that point.
Me and my sisters almost exclusively refer to target as “tarjay” lol! As the years go by I’m more and more convinced that I’ve never had an original thought 😂
Love this for you. I suggest getting some smaller containers for your cold items so you can warm up your hot items without having to eat the cold stuff first
Steamed or grilled vegetables, loaded baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, rice, ground chicken asian style, crockpot chicken, overnight oats for breakfast, breakfast tacos, just a few suggestions
To anyone starting to meal prep: I wouldn't recommend mixing the sauce and pasta. By the time you'll eat this meal four days later the pasta will have gone soggy and lost any resemblance of texture, just store them separately and plate them together before reheating
LOVE the Oregon sign 😊 I’m a native Oregonian, born and raised. Looks like your sign was made just shortly after the Roseburg college shooting? Great meal prepping!
Genuine question.. is one meal for dinner and one meal for lunch? Do you put stuff in the freezer or eat it during the week out of the fridge. Eating leftovers after 2 days freaks me out. I don't think you can freeze a container with chips and wraps with yogurt, tomatoes, and pickles. Seems like it would be nasty thawing out. Both of these meals look so good!! You are awesome for saying you're not a good cook but putting so much work into this.
Use 1 carrot 4 sticks of celery and 1 large white onion finely dice add to hot pan with a dash of oil.. then add your turkey brown it all off add 400grams chopped tomatoes , 4 crushed garlic cloves , 1 tbl spoon tomato puree, 2 pinches of sea salt 2 pinches of white and black pepper, throw in some fresh or dry herbs oregano or basil or both. A squeeze of lemon.. add your diced pepper after this and they stay crunchy. I batch cook this weekly so double up if you need to. ❤ you'll never buy pasta sauce again x

The scratched nonstick pan odd more concerning than hot food in a container
He can get parchment from dollar store and line it in containers, then add the food. Saves on buying glass containers, which is my preference.😅

Meal prepping works but i get sick of having the same thing for more than 2 meals in a row so....
Cook meals and then freeze them. After a while you will have meals you can defrost and eat without repeats.
Make different parts. They call it building blocks meal preps. Two carbs, two proteins, two veggies. Mix and match.
So does everyone but you gotta get on with it. It's convenient and will keep you on track.
