  • This is the evolution of the mt-09. Fixed the sensitive throttle, fixed the vague front suspension, and crated a cracking adventure-ish bike.
    It is also TERRIFYING.
    See until the end, there is some insane footage there.

    You sold me this bike! Your ever optimistic style is very uplifting and a joy to watch, thank you. As for the idiot at the end of the video...I lost count of the number of offences he would have committed in the UK. At least a full disqualification from driving and a section 2, RTA for Dangerous driving, an idiot who gives us motorcyclists a bad name.

    As for the final part, there will always be people who like and who does not like!
    All agreeing that there are places and places to play, it is still a machine domain demonstration by someone very knowledgeable !!! And after all, who has not abused a bit on the road??!? That "pilot" can be more secure in racing mode than many people out there that lead more slowly in the road.

    I feel your joy when you crack that throttle open, Cager. It's fun going along for the ride. I was thinking about getting a V-Strom 650 until the FZ-09 (MT-09) came along with that sweet triple, but I was holding out for an adventure version and, lo and behold, Yamaha heard me. Well, if they made an FJ from the FZ, maybe they can make an FJ-07 that's just as entertaining, but less expensive. I also want to ride the new Kawasaki Versys 650 before I pull the trigger. Ain't progress great!

      johnj189 I have a better solution. Take their licence for at least... lets say for the next 20 years -untill they grew up for responsible riding. It could be also for insane car drivers.
      I guess you are one of the insane riders but it could save your life to. Im sorry for that but streets would be much-much safer without such irresponsible people.

    • @RideByNight
      @RideByNight Před 9 lety

      bandinator Taking their license for 20 years for speeding, weaving in and out of traffic, and riding on one wheel? You might be one of the most illogical, unreasonable people online and that's saying a lot.
      And I am not an insane rider. I don't support reckless riding at all. What bothers me is the keyboard warriors like Lombardi who judge others like they are God. He has no right. He only has a right to live life how he feels, not dictate how others should live.

    • @bandinator
      @bandinator Před 9 lety +2

      oh yes, I'm surely very illogical, LOL :D... hey, mate, who is judging others?? :D
      When somebody is speeding, I mean literalry going really fast.. is a huge danger factor on the roads. If you think that it isn't true, you are wrong.
      I am a paramedic, and if somebody, paramedics know how does things look like after crash, and what is it like to tell to somebody that his/her spouse/child is dead, or suffered enduring injuries and will never be able to stand up/talk/pee or poo independently, because of an irresponsible rider/drived. Than is too late to tell "I am sooo sorry, I didn't want to". I have seen it few times, and I dont wish it to anyone. If the rider dies, its his/her problem, and peoples he/she left behind.
      So Lombadri has right in this case -if you like it or not-, because nobody has right to put others into deadly danger.
      That's it.

    • @RideByNight
      @RideByNight Před 9 lety

      bandinator If part of your job is delivering bad news and you can't stand doing it, you should look for a different job. And also, since you are a paramedic, how many times have you seen a motorcycle rider kill another person due to their riding? I am curious.
      That aside, I don't disagree about the tragedy of MVAs. And if you wanted to go into a school of kids about to become old enough to drive and teach them about safe driving and riding I am all for it. And if you want to go to a motorcycle safety course and discuss safe riding and tell them how dangerous it can be and how people lose lives I am all for it. But you don't have any right to pull the "holier than thou" crap on an adult rider who never signed up for a lecture. Just like Lombardi is doing to the rider at the end of this video.

    I guess MJ Paiva will finally make a direct profit out of you in a few months! The bike looks fantastic in person. Yamaha is conquering honda fans and possibly getting some from triumph. I was considering a tyger or a triple R for 2016 and then yamaha brought the mt-09 series. They don't have parts as good as triumphs but they are cheaper to own and for the average Joe like me it should be enough to convince me. Btw I was feeling the need to brake when you tried the A mode.

      No comparison, Versys is far tamer (also almost half the HP and a few thousand less in price). You're less likely to wrap yourself around a tree with the Versys, though, and the stock seat is miles more comfortable.

      Exactly my thoughts on riding. My first bike was a 2010 Ninja 250. I crashed on it 2 weeks after riding (because I was a rookie and took a corner too fast for my abilities at the time). After that I purchased a 2009 ZX-6R and haven't crashed it after 3 years of riding. I go fast on the ZX-6R, but knowing that I crashed on the 250 and needed 5 stitches in my ankle, I know that I can have the same damage happen to me on any bike. It's how you ride, not what you ride.

    Ah finally! One question Cager - if you could get a brand new Tracer for free or a Super Tenere for 4.5k Euro, which one would you choose? I was on a motorcycle fairy in Stockholm last weekend, and was a bit surprised by: width of steering on Tracer, and how comfortable Tenere is, and that I'm tall enough to stand on both feet on both bikes (and that I actually enjoy clip-ons). Shouldn't Tracer have an adjustable seat height ?

      Hey again. Just re-watched the video, and if I'm not mistaken, You didn't mention anything about adjustable seat height, which should be present in stock bike (according to swedish Yamaha site). Wonder if it were the highest position, or the lowest. If it were not the lowest position, then I think it would be possible for You to stand on both feet, not just on toes. But seat wouldn't be more comfortable :

      MT-09 Tracer is not an adventure bike, It is a sport touring bike. You can probably take off road a little (like pretty much any bike), but it is definitely not made for it. Underbelly exhaust pipes, and 17" tires really limit how much dirt you want to ride.

      You are right but it could happen even if you are not speeding aswell. And you would probably still blame yourself if it did happen.

    Olá amigo.
    Thank you for the upload.
    I would really love to watch you ride and opinionate a new Triumph Street Triple R. Similar engine to this but on a much lighter and more capable bike. Garaunteed to put a smile on your face.
    Até logo :)

    Great review. You could tell how comfortable you felt on in with a bit more pace than normal. I'd agree with others. Don't promote the typo riding at the end. I don't care how skillful you are. Riding like that will get people killed and gives Bikers in general a bad name

    Great bike. So much motor. But that does not mean we SHOULD use it all. It makes for an interesting video but one mistake by one of the people you passed at speed and you're toast, which is why the NC700 was such a good choice. Nicely done as always.

    Can this bike do any off-roading at all you think?

    When riding like the fella at the end (speeding and breaking almost every law there is), why is he stopping at red lights? Ha ha

    Now that XSR900 is out in the stores you should test that, it's basically the MT09 with a retro kit installed (that makes it neo-retro and can dodge bullets or something).
    edit: I see now that you did the XSR700 so the 900 might be a redundant review.

    Good vid Cager, but the ride of your fellow was insane. Complete "suicide bomber"!. Apart from that it showed the capabilities of the bike. Which are stunning!
