    Really enjoyed this review. What an engine the vfr is when the vtec kicks in, and it never fails to put a smile on my face! I have one for two years and even though it hasn’t got the latest electronics it’s traditional set up gives the rider more feeling of what your sitting on.

    hello Cager, very nice review, I did both test drive too, Tracer and Crossrunner. When I tested the Tracer I found a very easy and friendly bike at minimum speed, well balanced and light. The engine of the Tracer is amazing pulls like a bull and the sound.... WHAT A SOUND!!! The Honda on the other hand was so confy that I would have never get down of it. The Honda throttle response is more friendly and if you want to ride with fun you have to use a lot the gearshift to keep the revs over 7000rpm. The Tracer it's a lot of fun also at low rpm range. I think that the Honda should be the choice for a kind of user that will make long holiday trips. It has a lot of storage capacity, two-up is fine, it goes fast on the highway at lower rpms, confy and safe. The Tracer is the best for city commuting, blasts on the hills on saturday and can handle a w.e. out, but it's not ideal for long trips, these, for me, are the main differences.

    Thanks for the review. This season I'll get some test rides on both bikes - VFR and Tracer to judge it personally. As for now I think that Yamaha would be more suitable to my expectations. Your test confirmed my presumptions. Very important factor is the price. Both offer very similar attributes, but €3000 make a difference.

    @OtisENGINEuity Před 9 lety

    I love the reaction of the people at the beginning
    The best way to describe a V4 is they have almost a Nascar sound to the exhaust.. There's something about the V4 that makes for a very American racecar-esque sounding exhaust. Now other bikes sound like european sports cars/race cars but both the Honda V4 and Aprilia V4 (RSV4 or Tuono) have a nice cackle and throaty sound to them that sounds more American where 3 cylinder and 4cyl bikes can sound like Jags or F1 cars.

    Hi Cager.
    It's always a pleasure to see your tests.
    I only want to add the information that this engine work with 2 valves since I'm not sure if to 4.000 rpm or 6.000 rpm, over this line than it work with 4 valves per piston at full power, for a better fuel economy.
    I think that's why the bike result so smooth at the start and low revs.

  • @atilaay33
    @atilaay33 Před 9 lety

    A little comment on acceleration, when you turn the ignition key on, machine starts with the highest Torque control (2nd level) means the lowest power , which is typical Honda safety. Wants people to ride safely so if you need a ride like tracer you have to change it everytime you switch the ignition on.

    This V4 is a much more updated version of the original V4 from the VFR 750, somewhat tame compared to the 750 I used to own and tuned to 115 BHP! It was a 1989 superfast machine, low center of gravity and like taking off in a jet! I loved the sound of the engine, a bit more raughty than yours, I could easily have killed myself several times, since the power was too tempting. None of the group I ride with could catch me, so I just had to calm things down with an 850 TDM instead! Still, I may still consider this to ad to my 56 moto ownership history, since I am feeling the need for a little touring in Thailand where I live! It's now June 2021, so how's your bike now after 6 years plus?

I cannot really decide what to get in this category and the Versys 1000 costs exactly the same in my country as this Crossrunner. I'm going to testride the Crossrunner in a few weeks, not sure if it is possible to test the Versys 1000. I Love your Reviews. But... would you be please so kind to test the new Kawasaki Versys 1000 2015?!??
    That would be great, if you would do this in a comparison to the V Strom 1000 and the Honda VFR1200X Crosstourer. THX and ride save!
    Greetings from Germany

    If Honda can shave off about 30KG from the weight then it becomes a bit more comparable with the Tracer, perhaps! And with that weight it is a beast to commute on a regular basis, especially in congested city traffic!

    This is more of a gentleman's bike (like most Hondas) compared to the the FJ09 (Tracer).

    (12:20) If you slide here you'll be pasted all over a (very) square concrete stanchion! Lordy, that wasn't engineered by a motorcyclist! Thanks for your review and cheers from Australia - Dave
