  • We upgraded the long tail shaft on the Radioflyer boat from 85" to 110" and went with a shaft that utilizes Super High Speed props to test on the water. We run it to see how it handles and if we gain a new top speed. We expect to gain handling at top speed with the prop staying in the crest of the wake from the longer shaft, but don't know how the props will perform.

    Watching this video again because I feel like putting a 212cc engine on my kayak today.

    I saw the nose hopping up and down, put some weight up front to even the distribution out. I had this issue with my boat and adding a battery up front helped

    do you know what the difference between their regular shaft and their high speed shaft is?

  • @adambernasconi1461
    @adambernasconi1461 Před rokem +1

    Do speed shafts mount directly to 5-7 mud skipper longtail kit, with just swap of shafts? Or is new PTO needed?

    • @azlongtales
      @azlongtales  Před rokem

      Yes they are a direct replacement for your current shaft

      It was custom made handle @yumatrd but mudskipper makes nice fixed and Foldable ones about that length and height

    Hi there. I'm thinking about putting a Mudskipper on my 10' jon boat, but does the shaft need to be long as heck? Do they make a shorter shaft? Thanks.

    • @azlongtales
      @azlongtales  Před rokem +1

      85 inches will be optimal shaft length for a 10ft. That was just a speed shaft for max speed not necessary handling

    thank you for the reply Do you think 440cc would be to heavy? Any idea the weight of that motor?

    • @azlongtales
      @azlongtales  Před 2 lety

      I think you could float a 440cc 18hp no problem on 12ft but it will be double the hp rating. The longtail combo 18hp 440cc should be a about 135lbs

      Depending the size of the boat you are only legally a 7hp max because of weight issues.

    Custom tiller handle?

    • @azlongtales
      @azlongtales  Před 3 lety

      Davids kustom "3D" handle allows the engine to be as far back as possible to the rear of the boat

    My 250lb arse couldn’t stand up in that boat much less with my 65 lb daughter. I have predators and old school B&S flatheads and I dig your research but I’d need a bigger boat

    • @azlongtales
      @azlongtales  Před 3 lety +1

      Agreed 10ft jon boats are best as solo rigs and smaller people. You would really like a 12ft vhull or 14ft flatbottom with a 420cc or duromax 18hp XP18HPE. 212cc or 7hp class motors are really only good for solo builds as well. 301cc to 420cc are so much better for two people.
