  • 25hp Kohler mated to Go Devil long tail frame walks out of Spanish Lake (St. Gabriel, Iberville Parish, LA) after 2 months of no rain (0" - 1" of water throughout lake and basin.)
At 3:14, notice all the ducks and how the dog reacts to seeing them. (Yes, it's public land. Still, this area produces duck hunting spots like no other place around East Baton Rouge, Ascension, and Iberville Parishes.)
This video was recorded with Lance Coco and Joey Coco of Go Devil Manufacturing during testing of their new (2019 model) 40hp Vangaurd FNR surface drive prototype before its availability to sale for the public.
After leaving the lake, we enter Alligator Bayou with less than 6" of water.
Top speed with dog and ice chest was approximately 20mph.

    Nice video
We lived in Baton Rouge for a while before work took us back home to Texas
But that experience keep us looking for places deeper and deeper in the back waters with our Go-devil surface drive
    Keep em coming

Cool video! Is that really narrow water way created just from boat traffic throughout the years?

That canal was natural however in 1930 it was dredged for natural gas rig access that were built in the Spanish Lake sub-basin in the early 1930s. Bayou Paul, Bayou Braud, and Alligator Bayou were incorporated as parts of that dredging work. The natural gas facilities were abandoned before 1940 and most of the structures and bridges still exist throughout that swamp today. Check out some of my other videos and you'll see busted bridges and marked canals that were used to get equipment in and out of the swamp.
