@@slicknick333 Because Karras was trying to find out whether Regan's was a genuine case of possesion by testing her knowledge of languages she never learnt, which is one of the supposed "symptoms" of demonic possession. Regan only learnt some French; the demon knew it and used it to tease Karras, refusing to speak Latin in order to make him doubt.
Never quite understood why the demon reacted so badly when Karras only used normal (not holy) water. Unless it was just to mess with him. But then what would it achieve by doing that?
It's layers upon layers of deception. It's playing with his confusion and his skepticism.. it knew he would be skeptical due to the holy water not being holy water...but Also knew that he was recording the voice and would find out that it was speaking in reverse thus removing the doubt.. however... it was saying in reverse things like " fear the priest " and " give us time" creating the impression that it feared the exorcism.. when in actuality it wanted the excorcism so it could kill father merron and posses karras. One can infer that it probably would of used karras's body to murder reagan if it wasn't for his sacrifice.. Basically. The demon was playing chess while everyone else was olaying checkers.

I don't care about the video, but the title is awesome. I think you can use these words in just any situation you can possibly get in...they'll always fit :D
I never understood the whole tap water bit. It seems to suggest that he's still skeptical despite all the other supernatural displays. Also, since she actually _is_ possessed by a demon, why _does_ she react to tap water as if it's Holy Water?
She's trying to make him skeptical. He knows it's not holy water, but as far as he knows, she doesn't. He's trying to figure out if she's actually possessed, or if she's just mentally ill and/or acting out for attention. It's also why he tried to make her open the drawer a second time, and why he tried speaking to her in latin (she began speaking in french instead.)
@@Former_Halo_Fan But why open the drawer or speak in foreign tongues at all if she's just trying to trick him into believing it's all fake? She just wants to f*ck with him? To make him unsure?
Also, if I saw you telepathically open a drawer, but then not do it a second time, i wouldn't suddenly be unimpressed and go on with business as usual. I'd be like "HOLY F*CKING SH*T! I JUST WITNESSED THE MOST INCREDIBLE THING IN MY LIFE! MY FORMERLY FLAGGING FAITH IN THE SUPERNATURAL HAS JUST BEEN REIGNITED A THOUSANDFOLD!"
It was smart enough to react violently to the tap water, as though it were holy water, but not smart enough, it seems, to realize that Karras was recording the languages it was speaking so he could get evidence of possession. Lol. Still a great film.
Maybe Satan was wanting to fight the two priests. Satan killed the elder priest and caused Karras to be possessed, so Satan no longer needed the frail girl as his vessel.
It wasnt that the demon was smart or not smart enough. It literally toyed with Karras in this scene, which explains the drawer trick, its refusal to do it again at Karras' request and the demon's mockery at Karras' question in latin. He wanted Karras to get close to it, so he could slowly tear him apart, hence the line "It would bring us (demon and karras) together" Also, the reaction to the tap water is another trick by the demon because it actually wants to be identified by Karras, because at the actual exorcism scene, both Father Merrin and Father Karras throw holy water several times at Regan and she does not react the same way, and in some scenes doesnt react at all.
You should watch it! It is an excellent movie and a classic! If you are over 15 years old then it's not as scary as everyone says it is. Just little girls are afraid of this.
I was terrified of watching this movie because I thought it really was terrifying, now, having watched it, I thought it was funny.I'm a pussy about horror movies but this one is not scary at all
The fake holy water was never explained. Was it just a matter of tricking the demon? If so that's pretty convenient and was never exploited. Father Merris used holy water and it left cuts on her body so... wtf?
According to Karras, the demon reacting like that to the fake holy water could mean that Regan isn't actually possessed, so the demon was purposely doing that to put doubt in Karras's mind, and doing that would only serve to help shatter Karras's already weakened faith.
wen i first sasw this moview i wazz all like WTF, i was hella scared of dis part, she sounds scary.....but i waant 2 c the unedited one, it seems 2 be good 2 some peple, but the problm is that back in da day they only had scarry music and not that much scary scenes, well all except 4 this movie, and now today we have more scaryh scenes then music

Pazuzu : " Nunya what ?
Karras : Nunya Bizness !!! " Ahhhhhaaa (imitating laughing the way Pizuzu laughed at him ) .......😅

Her face when she says la plume de ma tante, lol.
+Josh Whitfield Do you know what it means?
Thaddeus Stevens y would she say that?
@@slicknick333 Because Karras was trying to find out whether Regan's was a genuine case of possesion by testing her knowledge of languages she never learnt, which is one of the supposed "symptoms" of demonic possession. Regan only learnt some French; the demon knew it and used it to tease Karras, refusing to speak Latin in order to make him doubt.
1:20 When you get stung by a bullet ant
Demon is all over the place, speaking French and Latin out of context.
Those ending sounds with the still frame at very end is amazing production
I am suprised Jason Miller was never considered to play Rocky Balboa as I think he would had nailed it.
rstein926 cause Stallone wrote Rocky and wanted to play the part himself
@@lukehutchinson499Erm no, he's far too skinny, Stallone looked FAR more like a Professional Boxer.
And even after this he was still in denial and thought she just needed a shrink!!! lol
01:30 - "Biatchh!" 😂😂😂
This movie has so many messages the best is the standoff in the beginning of the film 🎥 and the battle between good and evil best scary movie ever
One of the voices are his mother speaking, whether its her spirit or Pazuzu imitating it.
It's surely pazuzu imitating it.
Brad Pitt said this movie scared the crap out of him and it still does !!!!
This movie was actually based in real events. I've known a couple who converted to Catholicism after knowing that.
"real events' Yeh sure.
Karras: Do you speak latin?
Zuzu: no hablo espanol
Never quite understood why the demon reacted so badly when Karras only used normal (not holy) water. Unless it was just to mess with him. But then what would it achieve by doing that?
It creates uncertainty and confusion in Karras, preventing him from taking control of the situation.
Hahahaha, this is my favourite scene! La plume de ma tante!!!!

@therealplease thank you so much, for exorcist fanatics like myself this makes our day!
You never ask a demon questions or for it to perform actions. It is always in charge.
1:03 For a moment i swore she said hakuna matata 🤣
@Craze961 yeah i'm aware it's 'based on a real person' but i don't believe he was possessed. i just think in the most simplest of terms, he was mental.
"he is a priest and I am no one!!!"
Actually it's "fear the priest".
Pazuzu: what’s that?
Karras: molly water
Pazuzu:ayyy!
Pazazu's face when he saw that holy water come out tho.. he shit his pants..
🗣 Dump tha holy water in buckets‼
That scared the shit outa me. How did that man have the guts to come even close to her
Quick question: the scratches that are on the actresses face when she plays the demon, well will the scars still be on the actual Regans face and body at the end when the demon has been destroyed x
they become faint scars
I'd be more worried about the severely broken neck. Lets hope the power of Christ comes with a brace and icy hot
I don't care about the video, but the title is awesome. I think you can use these words in just any situation you can possibly get in...they'll always fit :D
Scariest movie i've ever seen in my life. I first saw it when I was like 5
Idk why but the part when she openes the drour I can't stop laughing...
what do you call water that is blessed?
1:12 -----> :D
O-O What a polite demon. :P
This is what I sound like when I'm sick.
who voices regan while she was possessed?
mercedes mccambridge
MY FORMERLY FLAGGING FAITH IN THE SUPERNATURAL HAS JUST BEEN REIGNITED A THOUSANDFOLD!"
the pen of my aunt AHHHHHHH
amazing sounds right at the very end . kind of like a one time deal .
wow everytime I see this scene it creeps the hell out of me (no pun intended).
+Andrew Jackson Merrin died from natural causes, and the demon was not Satan.
Big Fecal Pile i c
FocusReborn It was already a stupid idea from the beginning, seeing how he opened that nightstand without touching it in front of him.
It wasnt that the demon was smart or not smart enough. It literally toyed with Karras in this scene, which explains the drawer trick, its refusal to do it again at Karras' request and the demon's mockery at Karras' question in latin.
He wanted Karras to get close to it, so he could slowly tear him apart, hence the line "It would bring us (demon and karras) together"
Also, the reaction to the tap water is another trick by the demon because it actually wants to be identified by Karras, because at the actual exorcism scene, both Father Merrin and Father Karras throw holy water several times at Regan and she does not react the same way, and in some scenes doesnt react at all.
1:02 I can only hear Katya going “hakuna matatAHHH!”
@Solracwins what do you mean, friend?
00:48 Latin: Mirabile dictu! ("Wonderful!"). Subtitles: "irritability-". The subtitles don't speak latin, quam barbari sunt!
You should watch it! It is an excellent movie and a classic! If you are over 15 years old then it's not as scary as everyone says it is. Just little girls are afraid of this.
I was terrified of watching this movie because I thought it really was terrifying, now, having watched it, I thought it was funny.I'm a pussy about horror movies but this one is not scary at all
1:12 What's that?
The fake holy water was never explained. Was it just a matter of tricking the demon? If so that's pretty convenient and was never exploited. Father Merris used holy water and it left cuts on her body so... wtf?
According to Karras, the demon reacting like that to the fake holy water could mean that Regan isn't actually possessed, so the demon was purposely doing that to put doubt in Karras's mind, and doing that would only serve to help shatter Karras's already weakened faith.
Ive watched this movie so many times and i never thought of that, kudos
It was just the demon fucking with him.
I love thi movie even I dont believe in ghosts, demons and possessions
"Did you do that? Ahaaamm"
wen i first sasw this moview i wazz all like WTF, i was hella scared of dis part, she sounds scary.....but i waant 2 c the unedited one, it seems 2 be good 2 some peple, but the problm is that back in da day they only had scarry music and not that much scary scenes, well all except 4 this movie, and now today we have more scaryh scenes then music
Fuck that, if I heard a noise like 1:33 coming out of anyone I'm gonna run the fuck away from them.
You'd like that ?
