Having experienced an Ich outbreak, I found that polylab medic, metroplex and a good UV can beat it no problem.
So now I treat the whole tank any time I add a new fish and turn the UV flow down for at least a month.
Since implementing this practice I’ve not lost a single fish.
I’ve heard (but yet to see evidence) that Ich can be transferred by coral, in which case QTN is not possible and ultimately QTN fish is pointless.
I do have a friend that added a large coral from a very well known Portuguese supplier that basically infected his entire tank with Brookynella and wiped out every single fish.

IMO, the reason people fail with QT is impatience, laziness and lack of preparation with equipment and the needed medications. Get the fish eating first, do one medication at a time, test and maintain per the online recommendations and you’re set. Shortcuts and rushing is why people have little success with it. I’ve had great success following the instructions available online.

Agree 100%. For example the Humble Fish's Hybrid Tank Transfer Method has been working great for me. Sure one need two QT setups to pull it off and some work but the amount of actual work needed is not as much as one would initially think. I have even taken my snails and hermits together with fish with no issues to make sure nothing sneak in. Also there is no need to treat with copper with this method. With the expense of copper treatment, Hanna tester etc needed for copper treatment one can get a second hand tank for qt and a heater and small power filter to run the second qt. What i've found important is to have seeded filter foam well prepared before running the qt. To help with possible ammonia spike Tropic Marin brown sludge bacteria has helped me.

My tanks got a few more days of being cycled and I've decided to go for the QT route. What's your opinion on quarenteening coral or inverts?

If I build a quarantine fish tank, what should I do with the tank after each quarantine?
Since there is mature filter material in the fish tank, can I just change 100% of the water to remove the residual drugs in the water? Thank you

  • @TomsReefs

Why don’t you also do a 100% water change after copper treatment is done, clean equipment and change media, then dose fluke solve? Completely eliminate flukes and the internal worms? Adds 7-8 days on top but gets rid of the flukes the freshwater dip doesn’t
