German here. You had the manual on screen long enough that I could read that you have to hold the play/pause button for at least three seconds after charging the device for it to turn on. If you've already tried that and it didn't work, it's really sad. That cup truly is lost forever :(
When you unpacked it, i thought "wait, i have seen that player in stores!" Then i thought "wait is that my cd?!" (no it wasn't but i professionally designed the covers/booklets for a whole bunch of these german shanty cds back in 2010-2020 and what do you know they all look basically the same 😂) Then he broke the mug. What a rollercoaster ride of feelings on a cold morning in northern Germany. Awesome!

wow, i used a frame, where the word "eingestellt" was covered by his thumb. so by just quickly skimming through the text and i missed that part. i just read the "automatic shut down" and the timeframe and moved on. had i used the image 5 frames earlier, i would have had a cleaner picture to work with. "eingestellt" or "einstellen" roughly means: "to adjust" or "to put in settings" to be exact, there were 15 better frames. but i stopped within the 5 bad frames and just skimmed in one direction for a useable one^^
You should definitely learn some soldering skills from James. Then you can bring these nuggies back to life by swapping the batteries or fixing the motherboard a bit.

Google translate camera mode would've helped with the manual. Holding the play/pause button for several seconds turns it on as it says at 4:25 Menu and the arrow buttons should be self explanatory, while "wahl" essentially just means select (the orange blob in the center of the dpad I assume)

Wade made me dig up my Archos 404 30GB, and it still works just fine even after 16 years. I had to change the battery back in the early 2010s but nothing since then.
Gee, i just needed one mini usb cable for the radio-speaker-mp3 player 3in1 nugget and you have so many of those. Bought one and it was cheap but those hours i spent thinking whether my hand-me-down nug worked or not were terrifying.
