Excellent series presentation! I did silkscreen in college. I went into medical illustration and got away from it, but I am now retired and have the time to pursue it again. Garner has the PERFECT voice to create this series and could easily become a professional voice for all educational videos. For those that are at SpeedballArt, this guy sold me your product. I normally wouldn't watch a series like this, but his voice made the time go by and me comfortable to learn...and I learned a lot! Thanks Garner and Speedball!

Hi, I've got your ink and your screen. I tried to multiple screen but the ink dries so fast that I can't even do two at once. So I have to clean it every time I do one shirt. Then the ink doesn't go all off since it dried and twice I had to remove the silk and put another one. Do you have any advices to make it less complicated for me? A friend asked me to print him 8 shirts with the same design and I'd like to just make them with one screen if it's possible and skip all of those steps.
sorry to hear of your troubles! we do expect the ink to stay open between pulls for quite a while, certainly long beyond a single print. If you are in a dry environment, that could be playing into things, and we would recommend adding some of our Retarder Base to extend the open time. We can also review some techincal changes you could make in how you are pulling the prints--if that's of interest, please contact us at info@speedballart.com so we can discuss your setup and approach in more detail. We often use a repositionable spray adhesive to help keep the paper on which we're printing held to the printing surface--that usually keeps this type of sticking from happening and is great for smaller print runs. Hope that helps!
your intitial image shold be printed onto a transparency per the instructions here and then used to burn the image into the emulsion on your screen. The process of printing the image is featured here and in other videos on this channel or you can reference our downloadable instructions found on our website. Thanks!
Was hoping he did the shirt on camera, only because I bought the kit and the shirts don't fit under the screen while attached to the board... thus defeating the purpose of the board attachment :(
it would be helpful to know to what board you're referring. are you meaning the board to which the frame is mounted? if so, the shirt should not be attached to the board, merely placed under it. hoping that helps with some of the trouble you're having, but if not, please contact us at info@speedballart.com so we can troubleshoot further so we can get you loving your new kit!
@@CarlaGarcia5 totally understandable! you should place a piece of cardboard or something similar between the front and the back of the shirt in order to ensure ink doesn't pass through when printing, but the board in the kit is to be attached to the screen by way of the hinge clamps in order to help register your prints if you are doing multiple colors in your design.

We always recommend putting the image "three fingers down" from the collar to ensure a solid position of the design. Great series to explain simple photo emulsion screen printing. Is the photo emulsion sensitive enough to print halftones from photograph originals on mylar?
all our inks are guaranteed for 2 years from the manufacture date as long as store as recommended. that said, most are good long after that date. for printing on wood, we would recommend using our Acrylic screen Printing Inks.
According to the manual it is to be expected sometimes but it's not worrisome. Kindof just an artifact left over from previous emulsions. It doesn't affect future printing
Hi I just bought this kit and mixed the diazo with the emulsion and it stayed blue.. I still put the emulsion on the screen and waiting to dry, do you think my tranperancies will not burn on my emulsion?

if possible, the best way to avoid is to find a sheet of glass the same size or slightly larger than the transparency to ensure the lines will not appear
You are able to get far more than one screen out of each bottle of Emulsion. We would recommend storing the mixed Emulsion in the refrigerator for no more than 4 months to get the most out of every bottle. If you do not store in refrigeration, the product will likely not be usable for nearly as long. Hope that helps!

i have a problem. when it came to wash/ reclaim the screen. the previous designs outline stayed and didnt leave. this caused me a v big problem cuase when i recoated my screen and burnt my new design. the outlines were running through my new design. and when i printed on my shirt. you could see the outlines of the previous design cutting through the newly printed design.

Sometimes a lot of water pressure may be needed to fully clean the screen after use, the longer the screen and ink is exposed to air the more it will dry in. We recommend washing your screen often to prevent ink drying in it.

this is a fabric screen printing ink. it is available in a broad range of colors and works on most fabrics. it does require a heat set to remain permanent
This series is focused on demonstrating the steps required to print using the photo emulsion method, the print process for printing a shirt would be the same as shown here, only onto the shirt instead of paper.

Awesome series. I’m printing holiday cards. The card stock sticks to the screen when I lift it to flood. Any tips or adhesive suggestions?

after cleaning 3 times I still cant get the emulsion all the way off. What do I do now?

Could I use a sheet that I had cut with my cricut , like cut and iron on image …weed and use that as my image to impress onto my screen ?

When I exposed my picture there was out lines from the plexi glass and the edge of the transparency how do I prevent that from happening?
